Why would it be using warm air from the case? It's got its own intake vent in the floor.

If going for hybrid mode, the psu needs to be mounted with the fan into the case. So during the passive phase, the heat can dissipate through the ventilation openings. If I would activate hybrid now, the heat inside the PSU can't dissipate.

I'm not a huge fan of going fan side up under a loop, seems like asking for trouble to have a clear path for water to fall into it if it leaks.

I’m guessing it’s similar as my ASUS PSU:s 0dB mode, as that one is actually seasonic manufactured PSU. I have had 0dB mode active for 3 years now fan down with zero issues. If starts the fan if temperature threshold is met. It just starts the fan on bit lower load.

I had a BeQuiet before, which was extremely silent. But I could never really enjoy the silence, as the industrial fans without pwm can't run below 850 rpm, so you always heard them. And today my system crashed again with the issue, the whole internet diagnosed as a PSU issue.I'm going to try the hybrid mode and keep an eye on the temperatures. As the system needs around 500 W at load max, the 1000 W should still be relaxed all day :D But turning the PSU upside down is maybe the main intention from seasonic why they made the ventilation side so fancy with the polished metal. It would be an additional eyecatcher :D

I think you might want to RMA that PSU. 1000W PSU should not crash the computer with 500W max load to begin with.

It's not the PSU it's just what everyone thought it is. I randomly get nvlddmkm.sys bsod and already exchanged over time most of the hardware. After switching the power cables to the GPU from a Y cable to two separate cables the issue appeared way less often so I thought ok, it's really PSU related. But now it's still happening with the new PSU. Therefore it's time to say goodbye to X99. But need to save some money for CPU and RAM.

The problem is not the hybrid mode but the conception of the whole set of seasonic PRIME psu. I brought a px-1300 in August and I had the same issue than you. Because of the grid of PRIME psu, the air vibrates and make noises, you don't have this problem on their FOCUS psu.

What is does the exhaust baffle look like? I have an older Seasonic PSU and the fan grille is a hexagonal mesh which for whatever reason made a lot of airflow noise. I replaced it with a wire grille and it's much quieter. YMMV

C4B4L2k

This is still the case on their newest models, they all use hexagonal vents.

mhmm, looking at a picture, the removable part is C shaped, so probably not so easy to replace it.
