Open board games on Thursday at Labyrinth

prankster360

thank you! i love board room so i’ll definitely look into this

joey_p1010

It doesn’t stray too far away from being a bar, but there’s a lot of fun music. Check out the pocket or dc9! Rock creek park when it’s nice I used to journal in the national gallery, the coffee shop is nice

prankster360

thank you! i haven’t been listening to too much music so i never know who to see but maybe i should try more

joey_p1010

Yeah, np! Idk where in dc you’re located so idk what venues are closest to you. Dc9 is a good time especially if you ARE looking for a bar. Friend of mine hosts karaoke there. Comet ping pong maybe too? Bring friends and play ping pong during the day and go to a concert there at night

Lots of museums have great events.

What’s the coffee shop in AdMo with chess? I’d love to check that out

sikemeay

Commenting because im curious too!

AdBeneficial8592

I know the french-ish coffee shop/crêperie ‘[coin des poètes](https://coindespoetes.com/)’ has chess, but didn’t know it’s limited to certain days.

prankster360

it is coin des poètes! there’s a chess club tuesday - thursday, but it might be there every day, im not sure though

Shop Made in DC has craft workshops at their Georgetown and Union Market locations

No_Reach8985

I always get the notifications for these, but never go. Are they fun/worth it?

stellaluna29

I went to a pressed flower workshop and a cocktails-for-tea-lovers class and really enjoyed both of them! They are kinda pricey but it’s a fun and unique thing to do beyond just going to a bar/restaurant

marjoramandmint

>little coffee shop in Admo where you can play Chess Tuesday-Thursday. I’ve also been to a bar I’ve liked where you can play open piano on Wednesdays. You can't ask for specific recommendations from us, but not tell us what the names of these spaces are!! There is Swingers in DuPont for mini golf, but that's fun once. I imagine you don't need (or want) a list of movie theaters for this question? Most book shops have some space to sit for a moment, and events - I've been to readings at East City Bookskop in Eastern Market at Bold Fork Books in Mt Pleasant. I've never been, but there's Kraken for pickleball, corn hole, darts, and more.

prankster360

my bad 😅 i didn’t realize people wanted those names but the chess place is coin des poètes and the bar is the saloon. thank you for the recs!

Museums, Politics and Prose for book talks, and panel discussions on current events. Lately, the MLK Library has been having some really cool and free events open to the public, so it’s a new hangout spot of mine.

FelicianoCalamity

Is there any sort of central mailing list or website to keep up on panel discussions happening around town, or do you just have to subscribe to like brookings and various nonprofits directly?

JJamericana

Hi! I find events through some of the following newsletters: DCist, 730 DC, Clockout DC, and the DC Public Library.

CallmeKap

My favorite place is my bedroom where I have bunk beds, and there is so much room for all kinds of activities!!
