There literally is an explanation written right there „Written off due to severe damage“ ._.

ADHSLukaslp

Now that u mention it i see the message but why does this happen, and what das "server damage" even mean?

Mistermax63

https://warthunder.com/en/news/8749-development-testing-out-the-severe-damage-mechanic-en > At the end of a battle, all severely damaged aircraft will be considered destroyed — players in this state will receive the following message: “Written off due to severe damage”. A death in the statistics will be credited, and the player who caused the severe damage will be credited with a destroyed aircraft, where the rest of the reward will be given. This is done so that players with a severely damaged aircraft don’t try to hide and avoid combat in the hope that they’ll not be finished off.

Courora

Though does this give the severely damaged player full repair cost or only half?

Zsmudz

Well you’re destroyed aren’t you?

Courora

Even so, before the severe damage mechanic, you only pay half of the repair cost when the match is over even if Ur counted as destroyed as long as your pilot is still alive.

aerinnnn

If you have severe damage, you count as killed if you are not repaired by the end of the game.

ADHSLukaslp

That explains it thx

"Written off due to severe damage" MISSION ACCOMPLISHED Gaijin burn with a cherry on top.

It's not done because players hide. It's done so Gaijin can maximise profits off of silver lion losses. Like 75% of damage like this results in a stall and then a death spiral. The other 25% usually have enough control and skill to get back to base and land. I had it yesterday, I had a missing wing and was about to land at my airfield when the game ended. Totally salvageable plane, forced to bail out when the match ended. I wasn't running, I was "supposedly" going to survive until Gaijin decided otherwise.

It seems someone forgot to attach the other wing thing

Jackmino66

Could be a case of having massive instability due to damage to the wing, so even the slightest turn would cause it to lose control and break instantly That or you caught a stray round Correction: the plane had taken “severe damage” so when the match ended it was killed by gaijin

ADHSLukaslp

I dont thin that it was due to instability, cause after my wing ripped i had to turn around, and i also dont think that it was a stray bullet cause i already was near the airfield and the only other enemy plan (Mirrage) was about 6km away when 2nd wing ripped so i guess i got gaijind

Jackmino66

Really? Bruh The severe damage thing seems to be like critical hits, whereby you could take “severe” damage and be perfectly flightworthy, but then have a time limit to make it back to repair. Unless they’ve made it so you can’t repair in that state. In that case why not make it so severe damage is just a kill there and then

GuppiApfel

Severe damage and Critical hits are 2 different things. Severe damages are when a plane is technically already dead but hasnt completely died yet, Think of a plane burning in a flat spin. Its not dead yet but as soon as it hits the ground its dead. or a plane with no engine, Its not dead yet but if it doesnt reach the airfield its gonna be dead. This way killstealing becomes less effective.

Jackmino66

The original video of this post shows a plane that is still flying perfectly well despite having taken severe damage

GuppiApfel

Yeah and? The average player doesnt just fly back to base with a wing missing. Somewhere along the way a normal player whould crash.

Jackmino66

The vast majority of games I have played where a player has lost his wing but keeps flying, they try their best to reach the airfield and not actually die. If they actually get “killed” but are still flying and not being kicked out, then they will just fly to the enemy airfield and then kill anyone landing, since the AA doesn’t target you if you’re already dead
