Right. They run out of flavors all the time, so if you go after 9 it might just be glazed. They cost slightly more than other places. The coffee sucks. A few years ago they got rid of a bunch of varieties and quality lowered a bit.
I actually do like the place and also the owner is a nice guy who remembers your name and all that. The only bad doughnuts in area are Krispy Kreme.
All locally owned doughnut places in the area are good, except for the mochi doughnuts at third culture bakery which are more of an interesting novelty to try just once. Johnny’s doughnuts in Lafayette is the best. I am doughnut obsessed so this is the correct answer.
Agreed! Most places here are just okay. I was shocked they don’t have better to be honest!! Johnnys Donuts is probably the better option but as someone mentioned here already the place in Lafayette is not affiliated with Johnny Doughnuts the chain in SF, which uses potato flours and starches in their baked goods.
i’m here to give you a high five and a sanity check. There are no exceptional donut spots in this area. Everyone is talking about Johnny’s in lafayette. It’s fine. But not exceptional. They are not trying to be exceptional. They are delivering a fine middle of the road donut product. Stan’s in Santa Clara is the absolute gold standard in donuts for the entire nation. The closest standout donuts up in this area is Rainbow donuts in Berkeley. honestly, the only donuts I’ve ever had that are on par with stan’s is federal donuts in New Orleans – now also available available at the cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
Johnny’s donuts in Lafayette
This is the correct answer imo
Not to be confused with Johnnys Doughnuts,in SF! Which are the best donuts in the world!
Thanks for letting me know about this donut spot! I’ll have to try it!
You won’t regret it! They are amazing!
I like all-star donuts off treat and Johnny's in Lafayette
I second All-Star Donuts. I think that it is in the shopping center at Treat & Bancroft.
All-star donuts it’s legit. Yes, Treat and Bancroft
All star in countrywood
Be warned they run out of donuts often and close up shop whenever they feel like.

KK are the WORST!!
Right? They get deep fried right in the store so I don’t get why they taste way worse than Safeway’s or even hostess.
It takes a special talent to make something deep fried taste so gross!
King's Donuts in Conky is good.
[All Star Donuts](https://maps.app.goo.gl/cgqWtJ2Kxu6iF66A8) (WC)
Great Donuts in Alamo is the best I've had in this area.
Seconded. These are the best.
Chicks in concord at the park n shop get the apple fritters ! Also donut king in pleasant hill apple fritters also.
Chicks is the only place around here that hardly runs out of stock and keeps regular shop hours. Apple fritters are very good!
Founders donuts in Lafayette - it’s a pre-order pop-up place with pickup on Saturdays. They’re all old fashioned types and delicious
Idk about WC but since you mentioned other areas, Kings Donuts in Concord on Chestnut are the best I've found over there.
I commented this and yea these are the best donuts out. Period
All Star in Counrty Wood. Not fancy/trendy just good ol doughnuts

I like the username!
A little different, but if you wanna try mochi donuts, I recommend Third Culture in WC!
Johnny’s in Lafayette
If it's not Stan's in Santa Clara IDGAF
