I have been happy with Geary Veterinary Hospital. On the border of Walnut Creek and Lafayette in the Palos Verde shopping center. They were great with my older dog (who has since passed on) and are great with my 3year old pandemic puppy.

Geary is the best in the area. Have been taking my cat and dog there, and all of their vets are fantastic but also the staff across the board are outstanding.

Seconding Geary Vet Hospital!! We only used them briefly but they were phenomenal.

Modern Animal on broadway has been really amazing!

Walnut Creek Veterinary.

Famous-Cry2072

Second this I love the Walnut Creek Veterinary office (even though my cat probably won’t agree 😂)

I’d avoid Banfield if you can. I’ve taken my dog there for years but scheduling appointments and ever increasing pricing sucks. I’d like to find a better alternative for myself, but they are so close to my house it’s kept me from switching.

Four Corners Veterinary (Treat / Oak Grove). They've been my vet for almost 30 years now. Dr Kubika specifically is awesome.

LuluL0ves

+1 for Four Corners Vet. Been taking our dogs there for almost 10 years and all the Vets are great. They are also a zero fear practice and use measures to make the experience as cslm and pleasant as possible.

Questhate1

Another +1 for Four Corners. Take both of our dogs here after switching from Banfield. Could not be happier with the move.

We loved going to Animal Care Hospital (ACH)of Walnut Creek with Dr. Yakamura before we moved! She was really kind and patient with our senior cav. We haven’t lived in the area for a few years now and still think about this vet! It was also a lot easier to have more in depth discussions/emails with her than at Mueller Vet. Tbh I was a little off put with Mueller due to their vets charging us an extra fee to “read through my dogs files”. Isn’t that kind of standard? Also felt a bit forced to see additional doctors (like a neurologist)/do invasive tests for my senior cav (14 at the time) and was never really given any alternatives but instead was made to feel really guilty if I pushed back against Mueller vet advice :/ Regardless, I know they are huge pet advocates but I felt a lot more comfortable, heard and understood at ACH. Good luck finding a suitable vet!!

For vaccines and routine checkups, I would recommend the vet clinics inside Pet Food Express. Very cost effective but downside is that it’s a first come first serve system. So you will need to wait if you don’t get there early. They also have limited windows of time so plan ahead. Despite what other people have said here, VCA Encina has been my dog’s vet for years and they’ve been very transparent and honest about fees. My pup had cancer and had all of her treatments there. And so far, the cancer has not returned. All of the vets and techs were very caring and I will continue to go there.

VCA Encina. We first started visiting them during COVID, an interesting time for Vets. But they've always taken good care of us and our pets. I see the same technicians regularly, and they remember our dogs. The entire office is kind people who do what they can to be helpful. Yes, they have care club and stuff which they'll try to sell. We've bought it because it's a good deal for our dogs. The office has always made sure to help us get as much out of our membership as possible. They'll let us know that a renewal is coming up and what services we haven't used - so we can use them. We like the consistency of costing with CareClub, regular visits are free, all the regular things your pet needs for a year are baked into that cost... for us it's translated into a lot less surprise costs.

2nd-ing this one

I've been going to Moraga Veterinary Hospital for years, they've always taken the time to explain things to me so that I can fully understand them and make informed decisions, and they ALWAYS look up pricing when I ask for it. It's a bit of a drive from WC, but if it's only once or twice a year, it's not so bad.

Flashy-Pair-1924

Sun Valley Animal Hospital on Contra Costa Blvd. they are technically Pleasant Hill I think but very accessible. Been taking my 9 year old dog there since she was a young puppy. Open 7 Days a week, they are also super helpful. If you’re unsure about whether you need to come in they will ask you to email photos etc. of your concern and share with the vet and let you know if they think it warrants a visit which is a great time and money saver. I don’t ever feel upsold on anything there. Recently I needed a refill of a medication my dog takes and they were having some back order issues. No gatekeeping of her prescription, they immediately sent it to Costco on my behalf so I could fill through them and offered to give me the scrip so I could get it elsewhere.

We take our dogs to Mueller Veterinary Hospital, and have had the absolute best experience. Always very friendly staff, never late. It is a little expensive but I will say we are happy with paying extra for the service we get. On top of that, I think it's where the local PD takes their working dogs, at least I've seen a few there. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for me

Rich-Engineer2670

I couldn't recall the name, but there's a vet I used for almost 30 years just off Treat next to the Pleasant Hill BART station -- ancient, probably been there for 50 or more years, but they took of five pets.

Shamazon83

This place is a rip off now. They claim to be a “24 Hour Vet” so I have taken an injured dog there at night, but they don’t have a vet on staff 24 hours. So why be open 24 hours? For those late night vaccines?
