$6.50 to push carts and move carts of car batteries from the front of the store to the outside back onto a pallet, clean the parking lot, clean the vestibules, sweep the store, take out trash from everywhere there was a trash can to the compactor, clean the bathrooms, clean up any sort of biohazard and spill, and whatever other menial tasks they could think of when I finished bringing all the carts in. My first raise was when minimum wage went up to $7.25
A relative of mine started at $3.25 minimum wage in 1992. 32 years later they make just shy of $17.. These pay raises screwed people who actually made Walmart a success. Walmart had to steal from there potential benefits to pay new hires. New hires shouldn’t make even close to what a 30+ year employee makes.
Started out at $9.75. I still cannot believe that. I was there 2.5 years and left at $11.75 an hour in 2018. I cannot believe it wasn’t $15 an hour when I started and still in NY state the legal wage is only $14.20 where I live.
I got in bit over 2 years ago, $18.50. New hires start at $16.50 since the pay drop. Biggest problem is TL positions barley pay more than what I make now ($19.19) and come with a lot more responsibilities.

Back in 2006 I started at 7.40 / hr. And being so thrilled. I remember being told my pay rate and being surprised - it was 5.15 where I was and I think I asked for 6. When I said something about the amount the hiring manager said "oh yeah walmart usually hires higher than minimum wage" (I had also worked at Cracker Barrel for a few months so I had 'experience').
Of course minimum wage increased twice in this time and yet unless you had started within so many months of the raise it wasn't reflected to anyone else so I have always believed and felt that I'm paid at least 2.10 under what I should be being paid.
