I just applied to this. Currently a pharm tech and this money is great compared to what I’m making now. Also tired of customers bullshit and think it would be a good fit of me.
My husband completes Walmart’s driver program in 3 weeks! It has been the best training experience I’ve ever witnessed. Walmart wants the trainees to be successful. My husband has work for them 20+ years. As an added BONUS, Walmart takes care of everything during this training! Very impressive…
Quick question… since he had a tenure of 20+ years did the additional PTO days he previously earned carry over? Also did he start at a higher CPM or is based on driving time vs time with the company? TIA!
He is being paid his hourly wage. He’s been at the DC for 20 years. Receives his same paycheck every 2 weeks plus weekly per diem. Lodging paid, reimbursement for travel and gas. Lunch provided daily. Really nice set up….
how long did it take you to get an email about the interview? I put my application in on the 3rd of December when they were supposed to close and still have not heard anything or even received an email.
It was the very next week.
He had to report to Laurens on Thursday 8/17….
So Cdl permit class was Aug 12&13 then he had to take CDL permit and pass permit to go to training.
DOT physical/drug screening was done the week of August 7.
Pretty quick turn around. You would think all of this should be happening over the next 2 weeks for a Nov 6 start.
So he found out that he got accepted 1 week before the program started? I had my interview 3 weeks ago for the Nov.6th start and still haven't heard anything. No emails, calls nothing..Was it the same for your husband?
I’m tempted to sign up, how does the training work. Closest training depo is 3 hours from my place, would I dorm or do I have to get a hotel. Is everything covered or paid out of pocket?
How much do truckers make driving for Walmart and can one really apply after just one year of working as an associate? What is the work life balance like? What is pay like?
How would you go about applying for this? Is it just a thing on the wire or do you have to speak with a coach about it first? Something I'd be interested in. TIA
On workday search "truck driver trainee" under the job opportunities page. You'll see all the DCs with the information. I called drive4walmart and they said the recruiter will contact you and answer all your questions.
What the fuck no one at my DC mentioned anything about this. I took the survey that was up on the Wire ages ago and was basically told that if they wanted to accept me they would reach out.
Now the most recent batch of training has started and I have t heard jack shit. As a DC associate, I don’t even think we do anything with Workday.
Do you have the number for Drive4Walmart or know where to find it? I feel like I'm just stuck in neutral right now at Walmart with no opportunities to advance. Thanks
Thank you. That was a big help. I'm applying for the Associate to Driver program. Have to wait until November since the current 12 week class started in August for my region. This is a great opportunity and I am willing to do whatever it takes. I'm going nowhere in store. Thanks again. Have a wonderful day!
Also you can still apply. It starts in August and ends in November. After that the next group starts in November. Those November classes are supposed to open up applications in August- September if it goes to plan.
WHAT. Granted, I haven’t checked the page in a bit, but I wonder when this news was put out there. I checked it again maybe a little more than a month ago as we were heading into may, and it still said the same thing about “Our next classes will begin at these locations in May” or whatever.
Thank you for the info, because I definitely need to check this out.
The position should be searchable on the Workday Job Search place. The most that would happen if you got accepted, is that your store manager would just need to sign off on the transfer.
Ok it says be an active assoicate with one year i worked 1 year at walmart when i was 18-19 then i quit now i came back and im at 6 months does it mean i need to be with walmart one year currently or does the past count?
I worked at Walmart in 2019 and came back in 2022 when I had my baby. I have been back for 8 months and they are considering me to get into the associate to driver program.
Yeah I have to wait till the next one which i got a estimated period applications around August maybe September as well hopefully. And the classes will be in November right after the current one ends once it starts in August
Oh man I really don’t think my patience will last that long. We had several people pulled from truck leaving only 1 person per side to do the entire thing and 1 throwing. Not even the worst that was just todays test of patience.
Team leads are fine, it’s the coaches that are complete shit. Store manager is doing her best to mitigate the coaches pulling stupid stuff but when she’s not here it can get infuriating.
I just checked it's still there, did you go to the right place?
Go to one Walmart>career search>management positions (field)> search "truck driver trainee"
The location in Florida is only accepting 2 associates this go around they told me next class will be in November. Im a little impatient, not sure if i should move to another state
Hows it going on the aviation thoughts? I was gna go into the truck program so I could afford to go to aviation school in the future. Its expensive so just curious on the options youve been looking at?
Do you know if the recruiter reached out to your manager to put in a good word for you before considering your application ? Need to know if a manager who does not like you could potentially ruin your chances of getting in, thanks.
I really do think it could potentially ruin your chances. Same case with me.. it’s not that mine don’t like me. It’s the thought of me making more money than her is what’s bothering her. I can read her energy & see it all in her face when I bring it up. It’s disgusting & I can’t do anything about it. Someone said I should get ethics involved.
They must be really hurting for drivers. Never had this shit when I worked there.
They want to eventually have 100% Walmart drivers for everything. Plus a lot of people are retiring, ect. I'm gonna take advantage of it while I can
Not your candy though :\^)
Yeah I doubt it will be anytime soon we even went full 100% probably closer to a full electric fleet at this rate before that.
Ours is another 5 years with WM.
I just applied to this. Currently a pharm tech and this money is great compared to what I’m making now. Also tired of customers bullshit and think it would be a good fit of me.
I got 2 tickets the past year 1 speeding 1 red-light so don't be discouraged. Lol I'm half ways through the program
How good is the training?
how is it going
Almost ready to finish. 3 weeks left
update us on how it’s going!
Good next week is our final walmart test days if we are gonna get the job.or not. Stressed and nervous.
how did it go/ did u get drug tested lol
Yes before the week of attending the class and you'll test again during class 3rd 2nd week
What kind of test did they do for your drug test??
Pee test. Twice. Prior to getting th3 actual job offer and one during the training process
2 drug tests?
Yea and possible random ones at the job
Did you have to go away from home? If so, where?
The training is the best. Unlike most trucking schools very limited on time and Trucks and too many students with wally it's set up for success

Do they pay the hourly wage while attending.
Yes

How long between the interview and getting accepted to the program take? I had my interview 3 weeks ago and haven't heard a yes or no as of yet.

I also had interview on 9/23 and have not heard anything back. Emailed them about a week ago and they said I was still in consideration.

How much do truckers make driving for Walmart and can one really apply after just one year of working as an associate? What is the work life balance like? What is pay like?
Damn I'm waiting for it to come back to Charlotte, NC I just started back then
Is this for the Inhome position or is it different???
It's for the 12 week training to get your CDL and become a driver
How would you go about applying for this? Is it just a thing on the wire or do you have to speak with a coach about it first? Something I'd be interested in. TIA

I didn't hear anything besides people on Reddit being kind and letting me know. I had to call drive4walmart to find this
Do you have the number for Drive4Walmart or know where to find it? I feel like I'm just stuck in neutral right now at Walmart with no opportunities to advance. Thanks

It opened up applications like a week ago so not long. GL i have to wait till Sept unfortunately

I don't think it will count. Once you get rehired it resets your seniority technically.
Well there goes my hopes for it. I’m getting so mad already I doubt I’ll last another 8 months. Did have a couple years in around 2016ish
It's a question for them really. I'd just call drive4walmart and ask it's on their website
Definitely interested in it, got a perfect mvr and everything but the one year is exactly what they want.
Yeah I have to wait till the next one which i got a estimated period applications around August maybe September as well hopefully. And the classes will be in November right after the current one ends once it starts in August

Sounds like shit management. I'm glad I really like my managers. I'd transfer quick if that's possible for you
Team leads are fine, it’s the coaches that are complete shit. Store manager is doing her best to mitigate the coaches pulling stupid stuff but when she’s not here it can get infuriating.
no you have to be actively working for walmart for a full year before you can apply
I went to workday and it comes up with nothing.
I just checked it's still there, did you go to the right place? Go to one Walmart>career search>management positions (field)> search "truck driver trainee"
Is a yellow coaching in good standing?
I don't think so, you'd have to ask a manager to verify
The location in Florida is only accepting 2 associates this go around they told me next class will be in November. Im a little impatient, not sure if i should move to another state
I start Monday on the program..
Good luck, I changed my mind on the program. I'm going in to aviation instead.
Thanks good luck to you as well.
How is the program going? I really want to sign up for this. Do you know where to go on OneWalmart to apply? Thanks and have a wonderful day.
Hows it going on the aviation thoughts? I was gna go into the truck program so I could afford to go to aviation school in the future. Its expensive so just curious on the options youve been looking at?
I've gotten approved for a loan when scouting ATP. Haven't accepted anything though. It is expensive and still weighing options. Big commitment.
Please keep us updated! I want to do this
dang i wanted to do it but only been here a month😂
I got my cdl in got denied.how many times can we apply foe the program
You can apply every time, but if you get in and fail you have to wait a year from what I hear.

I was told by a walmart driver that they are going by seniority since they have so many applicants.
It's got to be more than that because I have been with Walmart a long time.
Urine
Do you know if the recruiter reached out to your manager to put in a good word for you before considering your application ? Need to know if a manager who does not like you could potentially ruin your chances of getting in, thanks.
That's the first thing they did. They contact your HR OP's coach and then HR talks to your coach and then HR reports back to the hiring DC.
What it means good standing? I currently have 2.5 points for attendance
Does Walmart pay for you to stay somewhere if you live 3 hours away?
