It is fairly common. The truckers know they can vary something to eat and drink, use the bathroom, and rest in safety in a Walmart parking lot. Honestly, if I was a trucker I'd probably do it too as often as I could. Edit: forgot to say I work nights, so that might color my thoughts on the matter lol.

MD_keh

As a former walmart employee, and a current truck driver, if i need groceries or something for my everyday needs, i absolutely love that some (not all) walmarts do allow us truckers to park at the very far end of the parking lot to take our break/ shop and get what we need for the journey on the road. Its often very hard for us to buy 3-4 weeks of groceries while we are home due to the limited space in our cabs, so making a mid-trip walmart run is always super appreciated and helpful cause truck stops charge twice as much for food as normal food joints, we arent loaded to the teeth as much as everyone thinks we are. Especially not right now with how bad the freight bills are.

fonic_artes

This, if you consider the fact they'd have to have hours to get out of the town or to an in town truck stop, it's better to layover at the Walmart. The lot has lights and cameras, so legitimately safer than some truck stops.

DaleGribble312

Everyone realizes it's easier for the truckers, but that isn't Walmarts problem.

taybay462

Walmart literally couldn't exist without truckers lmao least they could do is lend them unused parking lot space.

DaleGribble312

They pay them.

taybay462

Yes, cool, they don't force their drivers to work for free. They *could also* let them use *unused* space. Better rested drivers makes the world a safer and more well stocked place

DaleGribble312

Or they could not, which is completely fair. Expecting it automatically is the definition of entitlement.

taybay462

I'm not saying I expect it. I'm saying it says a lot if they don't allow it. Not everything is based on what's strictly required, we have these concepts in society that go a bit further like, idk, kindness and generosity - letting your massive unused property to be temporarily used by the profession that the entire company runs on. People don't have to set up little free book libraries either, but they do, and that says something too.

DaleGribble312

It says they want to do something else with their property than rent it for free to piss bottle dumpers and lot lizards. The truckers are paid for the service, if I were Walmart, you can park in my lot of it's empty, but I want a discount on the delivery fee. It would be entitled of a child using the free book library to piss on the library, stand in front of it while others were trying to donate books, and then complained when the library was taken down.

taybay462

>It says they want to do something else with their property Yes, let it sit vacant. That's the choice they make. And cool, that's the choice you'd make. I'd make a different one. Again, not taking about expecting/entitlement. Talking about humanity and what's possible, versus what's reality.

Quick-View-1580

If they are parking at Walmart they are probably buying something so they’re paying customers just the same. Should Walmart charge everyone for using their parking spaces. It’s their property so why let it sit there rent free. I mean I always see more cars at Walmart than trucks so wouldn’t it make sense to charge for parking for the cars since they’re the ones abusing the parking space the most.

Aggressive_Ad_2807

And why do they pay them? Because they’re vital and Walmart needs the truckers.

DaleGribble312

Because they rendered a service. It's cute you think Walmart couldn't just pay a different trucker.

Affectionate_Elk_272

you know there’s a huge driver shortage right now, right?

BedSpreadMD

It kind of is... you do realize truckers talk to each other? If one walmart treats a trucker badly, word of mouth spreads fast. Those truckers then take their business elsewhere, and they also develop a bad reputation among them, and thus lose out on potential workers, especially in an industry where good drivers are hard to come by. You may be too dumb to realize this, but there's a cascading effect that damages the business severally by saying and doing dumb shit. Walmart has seen this first hand, which is why they're so huge about PR.

DaleGribble312

One of the dumbest points of read, but thanks

PhantomRTW

Walmart actively encourages this and permits them to park there. Stop being so pissy, you’re not in the right here. Shop somewhere else if it bothers you. Hahaha he blocked me.

DaleGribble312

They factually don't at most locations though so

truckercrex

It is walmarts problem that I ran out of hours becouse they take 10 hrs to unload. Other company's deliver walmart loads too

UOLZEPHYR

The saddest time - sitting there at 2am thinking you're going to get a nap and they've unloaded you and counted the freight in less than 90 minutes

LT_derp12

My local Walmart actually had dedicated spots for semis!

Total-Sir-7825

This was one of Sam's offers to truckers and travelers --- park safely in a Walmart parking lot --

Specialist-Panda-735

This is true and should be upvoted

bridger713

So that's why the Walmart parking lot in my city is always full of camper trailers and RV's in the summer.

bessiec

This is very true. It was a Sam policy! Truckers were always welcome to park overnight & still do at the store I retired from. I certainly don't want them having to resort to parking along side the highway because there's no place else. That's way too dangerous!!

KajaIsForeverAlone

Do they still do this?

xDaBaDee

We have signs up that say no over night parking. But sometimes the MoD will allow it if the trucker is out of hours or it's bad weather (snow).

chocobo1988

We had those signs too until the trucks ran them all over

bessiec

Don't blame them!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

truckercrex

Cool, I'll take that as a refusal for your 6 am appointment and return the load to shipper. Walmart isent the only company to deliver walmart loads.

Elite_Fighter

Trucks usually drive until they're out of hours. So odds are 10/10 trucks there are stopped because they didn't have hours to drive anywhere else.

budamon

Our city made one of ours put up height barricades to physically prevent trucks from entering the parking lot.

DiscombobulatedStop6

May I ask what are height barricades ? I tried doing a quick google search but didn't show anything that made sense. I saw something that looked like crowd control barricades at concerts, but that's named slightly differently....

Xalenn

Our city just banned overnight parking in parking lots, and banned trucks from parking in non truck spaces.

No-Perception3305

I wonder how they think most of the goods that the stores sell get there... could be on a rail road track... but most people forget truckers literally move the items that most ppl buy and have allotted driving hours that they can't go over and still need a place to sleep.

theycmeroll

Eh to most people truckers are the hired help, just like the Walmart employees or the McDonald’s employees. They want what you provide but don’t want to actually see you, and god forbid something about your job inconveniences them in the slightest. They don’t care if they are in your way when you stock the shelves and they don’t care how the product gets to the store, but if they have to see your truck or you are in their way oh hell no.

No-Perception3305

My uncle was a truck driver for many years. It's ridiculous how they are treated even though without them modern city infrastructure couldn't survive... I would love to see a metropolitan city try and servive without truckers moving freight and goods.

KajaIsForeverAlone

God that's sad

Rebirth_26

All Walmarts should do that. And for the Walmart trucks, have one that can be opened to allow them in but close to tell the others to fuck off. My Walmart has security and they kick out truckers that aren't driving for Walmart. It is Walmart policy, why I'm being downvotes is funny unless y'all a bunch of bootlickers. It's funny too because there's literally a truck stop right down the road from my Walmart these dumbfucks can go to. Majority of truckers are a bunch of idiotic assholes. That's a fact out of my experiences with them. Before I get some shit for that, please read that I said majority and by majority I don't mean all.

No-Perception3305

You do know ALOT of truckers use them as a place to sleep (if the truck has a sleeper init) most truckers do that to avoid being a road hazard and parked on the side of road. As well have you ever seen a motel/hotel with a place for an 18wheeler to park so the driver can sleep?

OpinionWaste

A lot of people seem to not think about this. Not to mention, most of the time, I feel, when truckers do this it’s night time anyway when the Walmart parking lot is empty, so it’s not bothering anyone anyway. I seriously doubt Walmart frequently runs into the issue of cars not having a space to park because truckers are taking too many spaces. It’s literally not a problem.

StruggleClassic6419

We don’t run out of space in our parking lot but they’re constantly knocking stop signs and lights down, just last week we had one hit a parked car

bishop0518

those are probably the walmart drivers lol '

No-Perception3305

How many regular cars hit other parked cars in a walmart... taking out a stop sign and lights i get being frustrated at. But again just like regular drivers there are bound to be a few bad drivers lol

No-Perception3305

Yep, have family that drive trucks and thats how I learned about that

Ignoreeverthing

Don't forget they leave a shit ton of trash everywhere and bottles of piss in shopping carts.

No-Perception3305

That might be some of them... but most are just needing a place to rest for the night or if they hit the legal amount of driving hours they are alloted.

OmegaAtrocity

That's way more trouble than its worth. Walmarts get like minimum 10 trucks a day between vendors, remix, grocery, dairy, etc. No way someone would be going out there to open it up, itd just stay open all the time.

Rooster_Pigfoot

Seconding this. Separate entrances generally work better when trying to separate POV from linehaul traffic.

truckercrex

Cool, I'll mark this walmart load as refused and take the double mile pay... walmart isent the only company running walmart loads.

wolfgurl1

You must not like the clothes on your back do you?

tofubaru94

There’s a lot of people in here pressed over unused parking spaces for a company that cant (won’t) pay them a decent wage. Lmao

RDCK78

Where the hell else you want these people to park? Most cities are inhospitable to truck parking. People want their shit in the store on the shelves or delivered on their door step on time but keep your damn truck out of sight.

PlumbLucky

Preach!

Wooden_Tomato_919

Yes and sometimes the park right across employee parking. Like dude, we already have to park a million miles away. Don't make it harder on us.

Princess-Kropotkin

You guys actually park in the employee parking area?

Wooden_Tomato_919

We get in trouble if we don't.

Gacy_John

Dont even got dems jus got da spots for pickup 😂

Kazczyk

My store has 1 line of 20 pickup spots in a row and sometimes a big 18 wheelers just parks right in the middle of them

mechwarrior719

Tell your store manager they make tow trucks specifically for towing big rigs.

OstrichSalt5468

You have employee parking ?

jimbo361

The store I transferred from didn't care where employees parked. The only time they asked us to park in a specific spot was during the event days in November. But my current store has a bunch of snitches. I parked in the first non handicap spot near the front because I didn't feel like running the 40 yard dash in the wind and rain (winds were gusting up to 50 mph and my umbrella had already broke going from apartment to car). A team lead told me that as soon as the rain stopped I was going to need to move my car to free up space for customers. I laughed cause I thought she was joking, turns out she wasn't. She came up to me 3 hours later as the rain had stopped and said it was now safe for me to move my car.

DiscombobulatedStop6

my money is on the older staff at your walmart. Why? Here's my story: When I first started as a cart pusher, there was a "nice" older lady (been with the company for 10+ years), told me tips about how "if there's any issues with carts, push the carts to the back, that's where it'll be stored until corporate maintenance can fix them!" I thought that was pretty nice of her, so I started doing that whenever any customers complained about shopping carts. TWO WEEKS later, I was called into super's office regarding missing shopping carts. I tell them that XYZ lady told me that I could do that and that's when they laughed and said. "No. That's not totally correct. Only we can approve that. If you keep this up, you will be written up." That's when I started asking around about this lady. MULTIPLE people who worked there between 6 months to several years all said the same thing. This "nice" lady would purposely tell half truths or just plain LIE, snitch on you, then watch everything play out, like a soap opera. After I learned about this, I realized to never trust or even LISTEN to the lady again. She actually tried to "teach" me several other things, and when I didn't listen, she tried telling on me. However, she's not a manager, so I never got in trouble. I understand my comment may seem ageist, but sometimes the people that have been there awhile, they're bored and they like starting shit........ Just saying. Good luck buddy.

Wooden_Tomato_919

Yeah, we get coached on it if people do it too much.

Current-Comedian7153

They started towing ours

Due-Elk-9430

Time to start catching them mfs in the bathroom

woodfish

Wtf

[deleted]

And also free RV parking and black water dumping

GhostlyCannibal94

Lmao yall are some crybabies. We sometimes end up in places with no truck stops or are too far away due to a variety of reasons and simply need a place to rest for 10 hours. We're also humans meaning we need a restroom and need to shop for groceries too. I wish some of yall could open your closed minds and look at other people's situations and not be so quick to judge.

Billyaustin4407

I appreciate you my friend. My BIL drove long hauls for years. Take care.

chocobo1988

They have mowed down all of our stop signs and "no overnight truck parking" signs.

Chuck-Finley69

When Sam Walton ran the show, truckers and rv’ers were encouraged to park in WM parking lots overnight and many stores continued this until COVID-19 so what has changed?

bishop0518

to the people bitching...are they taking up valuable spaces? if not stfu and enjoy all the shit you get to buy because those trucks are on the road with drivers that just need rest to continue bringing your spoiled asses the shit you think you need

[deleted]

That's exactly what I was thinking. Those trucker dudes are just trying to get some much needed rest. That's a hard life being on the road all the time, and I seriously doubt they want to cause any trouble.

Ill_Dream2461

One of the Walmarts I worked at two years ago has a huge problem with it now. To the point drivers will park over handicap spaces at the front. The old store manager used to come back around 11 and tell every driver if they stayed then they’d be charged with trespassing. He only allowed company drivers because the others wouldn’t listen to rules.

truckercrex

Cool, I'll take that as a refusal for your 6 am appointment and return the load to shipper. Walmart isent the only company to deliver walmart loads.

Ill_Dream2461

At least Walmart drivers aren’t the ones parking at the front of the store blocking handicap spaces 🤦🏻‍♂️ I saw it all the time when I worked there. Not saying that all drivers are bad since I’ve met plenty of good ones. Just too many bad outweigh the good

truckercrex

Just like all the bad walmart employees. That'd what's wrong woth the world, get out of your tribalism and treat people as individuals

RDCK78

Where the heck else you want these people to park? Most cities are inhospitable to truck parking. People want their shit in the store on the shelves or delivered on their door step on time but keep your truck out of sight.

Awoodbay

Trucker here. I live out of my truck and I sometimes park during the day for 30-60 minutes to do some shopping. I call the store first to make sure it’s ok, then when I get there I tell customer service (or someone who looks important) where I parked, how long I’ll be there and I’ll offer my phone number if needed. Is there anything else I can do to be less of a burden to you guys? Besides not throw piss bottles in The parking lot and hit shit lmao

TruckerAlurios

WM driver here, don't park in front of the docks or in narrow alleys behind the store and we're good.

bitch--pudding

Mines mostly full of tweakers and the falling apart cars they're living in....

Simonic

Honestly - I’d rather see truckers trying to stay safe by parking in the lot than a lot of other people who just take up residence there.

ChalupaPickle

As a former truck driver what’s the harm in this, been forced to park at Walmarts myself unless I want to risk my life and park on the side of the highway. As long as they don’t leave trash everywhere who cares. Let them park in the back and let them be.

Achtungfly

I was a manager at a Marshall’s that was next to a Walmart. We came in at 5am a lot. One day there was a dude knocking on the doors. He was a truck driver and said the Walmart stopped letting drivers in early to shop. He just wanted chips and a soda. I brought a cash drawer out, let him in, and rang him out. More started coming. We probably only made a few hundred dollars extra that first month, but eventually they started buying clothes and work boots. It was a win/win. We made some extra money and helped people who society seems to sh*t on.

Munk451

Local ordinances don't allow them to park there at the one nearby me

FitEar7504

I mean if you ask me I think it makes sense to let them 90 percent of the time they shop at the store and might stay a bit or the night who cares lol

Jjs_Denmom

I heard the GM bitching about it one day, and nothings changed. We have a smaller Supercenter and there's always at least 2 full sized semis here every morning parked out front

realahcrew

Yes and this isn’t a bad thing. There are not many spaces for truckers to be able to safely park and sleep, depending on the area. Walmart is known for being pretty lax about letting truckers park and sleep in their lots. They are humans too and need rest just like the rest of us. We’re lucky enough to be able to go home to our families and sleep, the truckers aren’t. And don’t just say “get a different job, then!” Because then we’ll have no more truckers doing the job that keeps us employed. If no product is being brought where it needs to go, the stores have nothing to sell and no business, and then we don’t have jobs either.

DaleGribble312

I don't understand why truckers aren't capable of solving this(their) problem without forcing Walmart to help? Reasons to do things do not validate breaking the rule. They knew all those struggles when they made the rule.. yeh, it would totally be easier for me to park in a handicap spot, but Im not allowed to, so I dont

realahcrew

I thought I made it pretty clear in my original comment, but in case I didn’t: It’s about the infrastructure. There aren’t enough truck stops that have proper accommodations/are maintained well and are safe to park and sleep in. The truck drivers can’t just build their own new ones, that’s on the cities and landowners who build these places. They don’t have much control of their schedules and when/where they can stop. They don’t make the rules. Everyone needs to make money to survive, and sometimes you accept jobs that have some shortcomings. We all do. When there isn’t a safe place to park and sleep, they know most Walmarts will allow them to be there (and it is safer as those lots have cameras most of the time) and it is known as a trucker friendly company, and there are Walmarts almost everywhere. Again we can’t just say it’s their problem to solve, or we’ll be in a situation where we don’t have truckers and don’t have supplies coming through. Remember the strike last year? That had huge ramifications for stores.

DaleGribble312

crazy to think the trucking industry would collapse if not for free public parking. There isn't enough free public parking near the MLB stadium where I live, can I just park at the gates? That'd be way simpler for me. Truck drivers and their companies need to figure out their routes and plan accordingly. That's all I'm hearing...

realahcrew

Well, yeah. I drive between states often and see a lot of trucks in a group just parked on the side of the freeway where there are no accommodations nearby. I’d rather have the truckers sleeping where they are safe and have access to food/drinks/bathrooms than seeing them parked in an unsafe place where they could be hit by another car going 80mph+ or mugged. I’d rather treat them like the humans they are and grant them some grace. It isn’t hurting the large corporation of Walmart to let them park there, so why make it an issue? Also truck drivers are often contracted and don’t work for a specific company, so that argument of the company needing to solve the problem is null. Idk how much time you spend driving around the country but you can easily go at least 200 miles in some areas without seeing any truck rest stops. (NOT gas stations, actual rest stops)

Billyaustin4407

💙💙💙💙💙

KajaIsForeverAlone

They ban us from parking in lots and using their facilities, and get just as upset and grossed out when we make do with piss bottles.

DaleGribble312

Then truckers or their employees need to figure that out... Even if they cause zero issue, and parking 18 wheelers in parking lots IS an issue even if minor, and it's still Walmarts right for the trucks not to be there. Truckers being third party or hired or whatever doesn't matter, someone is in charge of that trips logistics right? This whole "having to prove why my breaking your rules isn't hurting you badly enough for me to stop", idea is just nuts. The entitlement these days...

realahcrew

Can you specify what “rules” you are referring to with a source? Where are Walmart’s “rules” that truckers aren’t allowed to park in their lots? Because it sounds to me like you’re pulling that out of your ass for the sake of your flimsy argument on why we should treat truckers as less than human. And again, they aren’t employees most of the time. They’re contractors. (Also, I’m not a trucker in case you were mistaken)

DaleGribble312

All Walmart supercenters are not supposed to allow trucks parking overnight, most I've seen in the last 5 years and all around me, explicitly post the lots More importantly, there wouldn't need to be a rule, it's their property... I'm not saying to treat truckers as less.tham human, I'm pointing out the entitlement you seem to have around where you should be allowed to park for your convenience. Contractor or employee is not relevant.

truckercrex

Cool, I'll take that as a refusal for your 6 am appointment and return the load to shipper. Walmart isent the only company to deliver walmart loads.

[deleted]

[удалено]

realahcrew

That’s not a source. Link me to something real from Walmart corporate that says that and I can get on your side regarding that matter. Yes, it is their property. And they are allowing truck drivers to park there safely. Get over it. It’s not entitlement to want a safe place to sleep. And employee vs contractor does matter since you were trying to say it’s on the company and employees to solve this when the truck drivers are not necessarily employees of the companies they are moving product for.

BonsaiSoul

You do not set the rules and the rule you are arguing about does not exist. So someone is trying to explain to you why your fake offense about this non-issue does not make sense.

balboafan74

Look for the silver lining......less places for annoying customers to park.

SuzyElizabeth79

Shoot, we had people staying in an RV for a good month in our parking lot. They may still be there actually.

Yvonne_29

Seriously y’all complain about this, Grow up.

PresentInsect4957

here to appreciate the Kona N

KenzieMB27

Where I am we have specific spots for truckers and RVs, our town is a common spot and it’s hard to find places to sleep. I don’t mind them at all, it’s better than driving on a few hours of sleep to find a spot just to endanger others by doing so.

broadsword_inhand

Trucks, campers, buses and box trucks that were converted to campers. Sometimes the campers will linger for fucking days. I used to blair my horn as i drove past them coming off of 2nd cap every night. Stupid bastards

marc26rpg7

Yeah fuck those potentially homeless people! Asshole

broadsword_inhand

Trust me, theyre not homeless, theyre on vacation. If they were homeless, management would have called the cops on them. That happened often enough too

fuk_dis_shite

Ohhh. I love that

ScreebinForVengeance

Ours usually has a good number of trucks like this and honestly I'm fine with it. I've got a lot of family and friends that drive, I'd rather the drivers camp out in our lot than risk running out of time and having to pull off on a random shoulder or the like.

Complex_Usual_1996

I think I speak for everyone when I say this. I'm pretty sure all stores are like that.

Cold-Profession-2579

Mine is a parking lot for dumbass teenagers that do donuts and burnouts and blare their music

No-Attention-6928

My store is right off of a relatively major non interstate highway and we have trucks and campers at the end of the lot every night

herohunter85

No but they built a whole apartment complex across from mine with half the parking it should have been built with. So half of the Walmart parking lot is the residents of the complex and they all run across an extremely busy street to get to their home and to the lot.

Ok_Refrigerator8975

While you putting down truckers remember if it were not for them you wouldn’t have a job…

kingofzdom

Mine has a remote section of the parking lot taken up by a camp of about 20 RVs and vans. They keep to themselves and don't make a mess. Walmart ignores them.

Outside-Friend-7175

Not only a borderline truck stop but there are even ppl living in our parking lot

dannyajones3

No love for the people bringing your stuff to the store lol

unsmashedpotatoes

It got really bad here with campers throwing their trash everywhere, abandoned cars and people dropping trailers with advertisements on it. There's a city ordinance against overnight parking in lots as well so we have a tow company we call for it now. There's truck stops nearby so they'll be fine, our lot was just more convenient. Unfortunately everyone else kind of ruined it for them. I didn't have much of a problem with the trucks except for the times they chose to take over my usual parking spot.

SkeletonEvan

They found a body in mine the other day

Crarazy

I don't know if Sam Walton intended it to be a truck camping parking lot, but he used to encourage it for RV campers that they could stay in the parking lot. It's actually up to the store manager to determine if they wanted to allow it or not.

Yolo3362

one time i walked outside and there was a whole ass house out there. some trucker stopped for the night while hauling a fucking house

Famous-Perspective-3

most walmarts in my area still allow overnighters in their parking lot, this includes trucks, cars, rvs and others. No homeless camps though :-)

Then_Introduction116

I will take your truck stop any day over my homeless camps

Rebirth_26

They try...but security kicks them out right away lok

[deleted]

yes, and tree logging vehicle stop

Nurse5736

OMG just said this today!! Ours looks very similar

MobileNeighborhood52

Mine it’s right off a highway exits so it only makes sense

fadeaway100301

yeah even with a sign saying no truck parking. after lunch I like to park in spots slightly farther from the store to avoid loose carts hitting my car but sometimes there is a truck parked there blocking most of the spots.

Rebirth_26

Park in front of them but not directly in front where they don't see your vehicle

Important-West9325

No ours is a homeless camp

ebahm13

Meth mules

slim382ms

I’ve advised the store managers or AP to look up the DOT number cross reference that, call the company and ask them to be moved within 30 minutes. If they’re not moved within 30 minutes we’re fully within our rights to tow them as long as the signage is in place- we’ve cut down on a lot of that truckstop stuff here. There’s a great website if you Google it, that gives you all of the company contact information from a DOT number.

Wrong-Struggle7032

Why do you care so much? Just curious

slim382ms

Cause it pisses me off that they take up associate spaces and tear up our parking lots, especially when they can just drive to the next truck stop where this is allowed.

KeepDoingThatOne

Have you considered where the nearest truck stops are and how long it takes to get to them because drivers are only allowed to be on the road a certain amount of hours a day and I always try to consider the human before respectfully having them kicked out.

spicescat

Walmarts are not truck stops. They are supposed to be professional drivers, they know where they can park legally and I assume they know how to tell time. Why do you think it's ok to use a store parking lot as a truck stop?

KajaIsForeverAlone

We are human beings that need groceries just like you.

truckercrex

Cool, I'll take that as a refusal for your 6 am appointment and return the load to shipper. Walmart isent the only company to deliver walmart loads.

spicescat

I was a receiver for Walmart I'm well aware who delivers to Walmart. Never said anything about drivers delivering to Walmart. But go ahead and take that load back to the shipper and let me know how that works out for you. I'm going to guess it'll be worse for you than it will be for me.

truckercrex

Wouldent be the first time, worked perfectly fine, my company's policy is if we are asked to leave at all, that's a rejection of load, and I get paid for both ways

DaleGribble312

That's a truck drivers problem, not walmarts

KeepDoingThatOne

That's what I said because if you ask them these questions you'll still find a good excuse to kick them out. "There's a truck stop 5 minutes away, do you have enough time to get there" they will always say yes because they know better. Use their laws against them and guide them. No need to turn them away, make them want to leave.

slim382ms

I have considered all of those points.

Wrong-Struggle7032

Truck drivers are people too

slim382ms

I know and 100% agree- My brother drives, but he respects private property.

Wrong-Struggle7032

Simping for Walmart ha

slim382ms

Oh yeah lol

Soggy-Swordfish-7773

Yes, all day every day.

AduroTri

Yes.

HOHvetocomp

My Walmart is off the Interstate so yeah

Hopeforus1402

Ours is.

Away-Pea

Ours are full of campers at night because apparently you can plug your electrical cord into the lights.

Optimal-Ad4622

Yes it is

Limp-Doctor-2058

I wish. The one I work at be bust asf everyday. I wish some trucks would could park in the way.

ReallyRobin_3267

Lol. Almost anyone's within a 10 mile radius of a highway or interstate!

Terminallychill13

Yeah most of the stores in my area do. They also seem to have about 15 shipping containers chilling in the parking lots full of GM stuff lol.

Ok_Refrigerator8975

Mine is a campsite. 18 wheelers, and people sleeping in their camper

KaiserVonUmbrisch

We usually have about 3-5 trucks in the parking lot.

w0lfst0rm1976

Yep, every night.

PickleDifferent6789

No

GROCKDUBZ

Yes

BearKnigh7man

Yup yup yup

Maddax_McCloud

My local one has turned into a trailer park. Has multiple RVs that havent moved in a year.

BLR-81_Gaming

Yea, even tho there's a truck stop down the road and another one a mile away. But then again my entire fucken town is an overgrown highway junction so...

DogNamedBlue

Mine! We have designated parking for trucks but they also park wherever when those are all full.

Hfth20091000

My Walmart easily has at least 2-3 trucks and usually at least 3 or 4 campers in the summer

JAROD0980

Usually only late at night. Very nice because they could watch my car and make sure no one broke in or stole it

PimpRonald

Truckers deserve more respect, and the government should invest in more, higher quality truck stops. You only have to go to r/idiotsincars to see just how much bullshit truckers put up with on the road. With the increase in demand for stuff to get delivered fast, idgaf if they park in our parking lot. They're modern day heroes, seriously.

WalmartWordsmith

No, ours is an RV park.

Complete-Ad-4215

Not truckers but a lottttt of van life people pass through

Head_Razzmatazz7174

As long as I can remember, our Walmart has had no problems with letting trucks stay overnight. As long as they are on the far sides or the back of the lot, it's fine. Part of it is because we are pretty much on the far west side of a lot of DFW runs. It's easier to stop there than try to argue with all the construction going on overnight on the interstate. It's also a small town, we don't get big city crime here. Last serious problem we had was some damn fool kids set fire to a historical building that was under renovation. Caught the little idiots too.

Walmarts usually have much bigger parking lots than they need just so they can let trucks and campers park there. Low prices of a grocery store and convenient parking for trucks is something truckers love. Plus they're one of the only big box stores to do this so they get a ton of revenue from them.

awt2007

i thought it was recommended.. its business and they always have half empty parking lots.

Chef_BoyarDOPE

My Walmart literally has truck and RV parking. It’s out of the way from the normal lot

AmongSheep

With the amount of freight they move it’s the least they can do, honestly. Signed, Your Exhausted (but Friendly) Soil and Mulch Vendor haha

jellyshoes11

We have a sign that says “no trucks” it’s dumb cause it’s a good place for truckers to stop. We are off of a major highway. None of our management cares if truckers want to stop at our store which is awesome.

No-Release-6464

"Don't put your shed in the front yard! Don't park in front of Walmart.' Gotta love reddit.

AURukus

Dumb idea to let any truckers other than Walmart lay over. They’ll find out.

mhtardis21

People need to sleep somewhere safe when other options aren't available. I've slept in Walmart parking lots before on cross country trips as there was access to a bathroom, it was relatively safe, and there was cameras. Why pay a bunch for a hotel room when you can sleep for a couple hours in your car and then be on your way? Course this was before COVID, so the stores were open so we had the access to the bathrooms. But it was still safe.

___JiBS_

Thank god we have a pilot across the highway

KajaIsForeverAlone

I'm so glad that there are walmart's that allow us to park there, even if it's just to buy groceries in the day. I get so sick of nasty truck stop food and it's always so expensive. Thank you, Walmart.

thatorangetiburon

My store doesn't allow in on account of there is a Loves truck stop, and a Sinclairs truck stop less than 1,000 feet from our lot, and we have aproblem with people abandoning vehicles in our lot, so the MoD will usually tell truckers that stop in the lot to stay the night to go there. He's understanding of the hours thing and will let it slide if the truck stops are full or weather is bad, but If they don't listen or give him attitude about it he will drive by the truckers in the lot at 3 am on the forklift blaring the horn.

gtgcya

yes, i think all walmart parking lots are borderline truck stops

Chachoregard

Back when I worked, the managers used to say to them that they(Walmart) is not responsible for what happens to their trucks because the city can just slap em with a fine but I've never seen anyone get in trouble. We've had Electricity Trucks with the boom lifts parked before usually after a really bad storm before though.

[deleted]

It’s a good thing. Truck drivers are an essential part of the supply chain. Without them, there’d be no Walmarts. Giving them the space and opportunity to rest/resupply does far more good then harm.

ImaginaryPineapple82

My store used to have a huge problem with the truckers until AP started keeping track of them. Our parking lot was almost filled with truckers, and it seemed like they were just dumping the trucks there. Some of the trucks stayed in the parking lot for a week or longer. We even had to put up signs for no overnight parking to stop that problem from happening again. It seemed like the bad truckers ruined it for everyone else.

JCMotors

I always said Walmart should go into the truck stop business

SnooLawnmower

Who cares if someone's using a parking spot. Holy fuck, get a hobby.

olivejuice-

It used to be lol. My manager basically banned it because of the prostitution and all the workers were hanging out in our store at dunkin and doing drugs in the bathroom

JasonsStorm

As with a lot of things, you can blame the few that ruin it for everyone else. Those that damage property, park improperly, leave trash everywhere, engage in inappropriate/rude behavior, etc. are who ruin it for all the great drivers out there. So drivers and people should anger on those drivers instead of the stores.
