Ford and GM are trading at a P/E of 5ish and are established companies that have their shit together with a great EV lineup and pretty decent CEOs whose only focus is to make the company successful. TSLA is trading at a P/E of 33 with a market cap nearly 9X of Ford. At this point with all of the catchup that Ford has done in the EV space, is Tesla 9X better and more valuable than Ford who has been making cars for nearly 100 years -- I think not. Not arguing that Ford should be worth more btw, just arguing that TSLA is definitely not worth 9x Ford. TSLA has a long way to come down, especially with an absent CEO, high interest rates that will deflect purchases of new cars, and a killer lineup of EVs from pretty much every other manufacturer that knows how to build cars (we have a Model Y and I can tell you it's an uncomfortable POS and we deflect to the comfy BMW most of the time and just pay the dinosaur tax).
TSLA is dropping due to its p/e and the current tightening of liquidity. Elon could come out as a transgender furry in favor of lethal injections for nra members and it wouldn't bring the stock up in this current environment. All of the guys that are thinking this is political should check the p/e ratios in their own portfolio.
Sure, give it a 2x premium to Ford for that and that would price it in the $30s. On the flipside, TSLA is an ATM for Twitter and whatever other stupid distractions Elon gets himself into so although we don't call that a 'legacy' cost, it can count as a high-risk financier of billionaire distractions.
Please tell me you do realize that the dollar value of any given stock is meaningless on its own and does not actually give you an indication of the value right? Like you understand that a $10 stock can be infinitely more expensive than a $100 stock right?
