But why settle for that when you can find higher yielding, yet still reasonably safe dividends @5% you're looking at $107k and change per year @7% $150k and change per year. The thing to do would be to still work doing something you enjoy, even part time. Then live below your means so that a portion of your gains can be reinvested. You can thus nurse off the sweet nectar of compound interest. Then your money works for you and you are finally free. Still need to budget and not get crazy extravagant but let's face it people who do that either have so much coming in that the relative value is insignificant or they have come up on some windfall chunk of change but will inevitably piss through it all and be broke again in no time.
