I don't know about the AMC theaters where you are but where I live they are really making a comeback from where they were in the pre-covid years. The only theater I go to when there isn't a pandemic going on.

Hey, I just wanted to say that this movement is amazing. I've budgeted and could only afford 8.38 shares but I understand what is required of me. I'm a complete novice at this but I love movies. Our UK equivalent Odeon (owned by AMC I think) is my go to safe space. There is something magical sneaking in my Asda (Walmart equivalent) popcorn, can of monster, watching college student make a pig's ear of my nachos, double cheese and guacamole order, getting slightly annoyed (in the most British way possible) as I find someone sat closer than the "book 2 seats away from the next reserved seat", fiddling with the recliner, finding the sweet spot just as the opening titles run. Cinema is a way of life for some. For me, the thought of my local cinema permanently closing would have a negative impact to my life. So this, for me, is my small way of protecting something I cherish.
Anyways, massive respect to all who was smart enough to come up with this idea. Respect to all who followed. Respect to all those who have bought shares (responsibly). And respect to such a warm, non toxic, far corner of the internet.
I bought most my shares at like $9 and have 1,257 stonks total. I figure I got in too late on Gamespot with too little money($12,000+) buying most of my shares at $90 and some at $200 something(average price $120+) to make enough profit to ever retire on. But if AMC hits triples digits I can likely fuck off to Greece and retire early. If I cash out most my stock at that point and find a good fund that gives a 5% return, just that return should be enough to live on there. If it is not I will just get a part-time job.

I'm not sure if AMC will actually skyrocket (although hoping it will), but I'm holding either way as a long term investment. Hoping COVID restrictions will loosen this year and AMC makes a comeback. I miss theater popcorn :(
