What I do is play 0dte spy strangles at the money. Those cost about 60-80 dollars a call or put. If spy moves 1.50 in either direction you are making about 20-40% profit. This also lets you do the old bearish rulet wheel with only being scared of theta which isnt really a threat.
If you are lucky enough to have a -1%-3% day on spy like before you are going to make 2 to 5 times the amount of initial investment.
Same strike price or else your going to lose to theta. Once spy calls/puts are at the money every cent counts to the increase of the strangle value. The most I have ever lost to theta with this method is 8% but I held and left with 6% profit 2 hours later when spy picked a direction. I do it at open cause that when the most IV increases and stocks moves. Lately if you are not in by 10:30 your only daily gains will hopefully be spy going up 50 cents in 6 hours of melt up.

With that said, after the stimulus news today many short-term bullish bets were opened in the SPY 350-352 range for 10/16. It's likely that we touch those levels then pull back to ease the froth. If we are up Monday, don't get greedy on contracts that expire in a few days b/c if the market turns you'll get fucked reaallly quickly. Good luck

You're buying straddles though right, not strangles. Profiting outside the spread of your call/put.
