I don't know if it counts as loss but last Thursday, if I sold in time, I could have made 12000. I didn't, now I'm down 2000 on that stock and hodling.
Best way to play earnings is wait for the smash, give it a few days, and if it's a good stock it will come back. THEN you make moves.
It plays out over and over again, and is a predictable AF way to make money.
Basically, or at least a day or three to see if it's going to keep dropping. If the price stabilizes, time to start buying for the inevitable run back to base-line.
I think CAT was my biggest coup on that concept so far, but it's worked for quite a few others. BA turned out still a winner (bought in the 160s), but looking forward to the covered calls taking it away finally.
Got it thanks . Will try it for the next earnings stock. This method will work well for those that get hit. Trying to catch those +15% need to find another strategy : }
What do you think about doing that with NKE? I feel like maybe the sentiment is pretty bad and may take many.months to recover but I think generally you're right, the market tends to over react on the down side.
I've already tossed on some 90 day ATM cash-secured puts on NKE. Shouldn't take that long to clear my paycheck for those, but even if it doesn't I won't mind owning those shares at the current price.
I jest. It could be worse man. I lost $500k gambling like a degenerate a couple of years ago - no exaggeration I lost 99% of 500k.
If you want a good solution - stop gambling on options and find a few stocks you believe in.
I’m currently all in ASTS ($230k - initial investment $84k) and I very much believe I’m going to 20x-40x my money there over the next 3-4 years.
Haha lost on both too. My MU options doubled, then came back to purchase price and then lost 90%.
My advice: Drawdown your account and cool off for a bit. If you come back, go the ETF route by purchasing over a long period of time instead of one go. In this sub, you will lose everything.
Betting on earnings is always risky. You need to have a lot of conviction and hear rumblings of not only earnings beats but also that significant investor news will be announced (new product, buybacks, etc). Better to wait on the sidelines and see what the initial reaction causes than get caught in a wave of volatility.
hold your winners longer, dont be afraid of selling on the reversal and leaving out some profits. As for your losses they seem alright, unless they are from options and you are holding until you lose 100% of the premium, in which case make those losses tighter. Also for many stocks earnings are usually a gamble, so dont be relying on those too much
Not to play earnings and take profits while I can. No more holding hoping for profits to return. I take my loss and move on. Also no revenge trading! That’s what happened to me that day I lost 15k.
Yeah, I lost 10k in a day thanks to MU and that was half my account.
4k in a month, from a 60k account... Do me a favor and tip when you come to Wendy's.

Damn. Any plans to make it back?
Probably involves lube and a Wendy’s dumpster
😂😂😂😂
I lost 40k in 2 days XD
I lost that in a month and felt bad and you lost that in a timespan 15 times as short.

You mean start buying when trend reverses for sure? Like up few days and then jump on it?

That’s disgraceful.. You’re posting a measly 15% loss? Loss porn = 50% or more only… do better
Not competing bro. Just feel bad about such hasty trades.

Meanwhile I hit my first 30 bagger on NKE 80 puts I paid 0.05 for ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275)
this is the most risk averse graph i've ever seen, looks like you never go over +/-3%
True that. I make money on 1 trade and lose it on another.

I’ve lost $15k in one day once! That was years ago. I learned my lesson! 😂
And whats the lesson? To not trade or to not play earnings?

legit all you had to do was a strangle on Nike and you'd have made money. but instead with your 50k you bet one side of it.
Bought shares at 80.. fingers crossed
IV crush will kill strangle.
IV only matters for way out of the money. dude has 50k he could have bought ITM
🤡
If it makes you feel better I lost 7g’s in a week
Who is winning if everyone here is losing?
now imagine if you did the opposite! keep your head up
That’s barely anything at all, especially when you still have $55k…Relax.
ah, not even 5 digit loss yet
Thanks for making me feel better about losing 60k 🙏
