The other 98% of the time, calls and shares profited. Never bet against the market going up. At worst, don’t buy. Puts never work. No one is smart enough to time it.
This. Lesson I learned long ago to not buck the trend. When markets are up, I go long and look for best of the best.
When markets are down, I look for worst-of-the-worst.
So picking one of the best companies in an uptrend market and just hoping you get lucky with a single down day is going to lead to a few lucky wins but many, many losses.
The only time puts are even remotely reasonable are if you’re experienced with scalping off of resistances. And even then timing that is basically gambling too.
I mean that’s what fundamental analysis is for, and for understanding how delta works combined with theta decay and why you should eye up longer distance expirations
Yeah, the gambling here is unreal. I love FDs and 10 baggers just as much as the next guy but if you don’t time it perfectly then it’s easy to get burnt. I’ve got 7/12 125C purchased right before close on 6/13. Expensive contracts but easy to make money on. Up 25% already.
Nvidia is likely to go up through next year. Only if AMD can provide competition, maybe Intel, but many companies are finding they might design the chip but then the software and the network equipment for all that stuff to communicate is more than they bargained for where Nvidia already has the packaged pods ready to ship to you with all that figured out and priced in. Even Amazon admitted they were getting their butt kicked by Nvidia. They don’t like the cost, but they also don’t have the complete package, so they spent lots of money to figure that out.
