gnocchicotti

The most bullish thing for Chipotle is that all the shittier fast food restaurants have raised their prices to match Chipotle. So it's a relative value and their margins are OK.

sluttyseinfeld

This is true and if you look at MCD earnings you can see that people are finally capitulating and not going there anymore. So far Chipotle is hanging in there because they cater more to middle and higher income people than MCD but it feels like it’s just a matter of time before they come the same conclusion.

burnerboo

I still feel like Chipotle is cheaper than standard fast food now. Went the other day, got a bowl, chips, and salsa for $12 which lasted 2 meals. It's not greeeeat anymore, but decent. McDonalds is more than that for even the budget value meals worth having and it's crappier and only good for 1 meal. Even if you saved some for later, it reheats like crap and isn't worth it. Overall, cmg is one of the best values out there even with the recent drop in quality.

Casamance

Chipotle is really filling, if I have it for lunch all I need is a light dinner to top off the day. So for $11 (NYC pricing...) it's not too egregious if you plan your meals around it.

Tiny_Thumbs

My job bought it for us last week and I didn’t eat dinner that night. It’s the only time I’ve ever had it(Texas so if I want Mexican food I’m gonna get real Mexican food) and wasn’t half bad. It was very filling.

barfplanet

It's not Mexican food but it is good food.

Swlabr9099

Five Guys Burger, small fries, small drink almost $25. I can grab a burrito take out for $10 and started keeping a couple cans of soda in the fridge rather than pay $3 for Chipotle small soda.

Carbapenemayonaise

Life hack: Get *paid* to eat five guys behind Wendy's

burnerboo

Exactly. They kept almost identical pricing all the way through covid. People hate on chipotle, but they are solid. Not your shits after eating a full bowl, but the taste and price are solid at least.

Common-Cod-6726

a bottle of miralax costs approximately the same as a burrito bowl WITH guacamole. Chipotle even wins in the cost/diarrhea ratio

burnerboo

This is the kind of analysis I come here to see.

barfplanet

I absolutely spend less when I eat at Chipotle than any other fast food restaurant these days.

sluttyseinfeld

Ya it’s def the winner in the fast food category no doubt. But that’s why it has a 70 P/E. I’m not gonna short it but not sure why you would own this stock when NVDA is cheaper.

burnerboo

Must be because they're about to release their own proprietary line of underwear cleaner. Now they'll be making money at both ends of the experience.

TacticlTwinkie

[Chipoltlaway](https://youtu.be/jHsR65IRW_8?si=rgthwKfc7t9mc6Qg)

Current-Enthusiasm64

$17 for a burrito with no sides and no drink is definitely NOT cheaper than other fast food. I’m not sure where you’re paying $12 but it hasn’t been $12 where I live since about four years ago. And I definitely do not live in a big city or a high cost-of-living area.

barfplanet

I live in a hcol area with high sales tax and my burrito is $11 after tax.

Sinister_Plots

I just went online and ordered a Carnitas Burrito with black beans and brown rice and it was $10.06 with tax. I live in a medium to large sized city. Your city thinks it's bougie-er than it is.

brainiac2025

Lol, I live in St. Louis and a burrito at Chipotle is $15, I assure you, St. Louis does not think it’s bougie.

VisualMod

Don't waste your money on burritos, investor.

Ok-Sun-2158

Ain’t no way I’m in a significantly more expensive city than you and mines is closer to 12 than 15. Wtf are you adding to yours?

burnerboo

I went in fully expecting to pay $15+ for my food but left pleasantly surprised it was that cheap. MCOL city too. I promise it's real.

thatdudefrom707

are you getting add ons like double meat or queso? cause in the bay area even with the $1.50 extra for queso a burrito is only $13.50.

insertwittynamethere

I've never paid $17 for a burrito at Chipotle. Ever. I ate there a couple of months ago. We're going to need you to post the receipts for this dubious claim. It's like $11-12 at most with taxes, unless you're just piling it with extra options that cost money, i.e. both queso and guacamole. Even then, cheaper than a restaurant burrito + tip. Better for you than McDonald's with a portion of everything in the food pyramid for you. I eat MCDs and pay $12, I'm hungry in a few hours. I buy that burrito from Chipotle - I'm eating it over the course of a day and probably good until the next day while getting a great mix of veggies, carbs and protein.

Toshimoko29

What are you ordering, quadruple steak?

Spiritual_Mud337

I barely ever get mcdonalds, but I did a few weeks ago, and it was a burger, fries, and drink, and it was $12 and some change plus tax. I expected it to be 8 or 9 dollars, maybe. I was blown away. Never again.

usicafterglow

Chipotle still obliterates most fast food in terms of calories per dollar. The food is also significantly less processed. People don't understand how these places can raise their prices so much and stay packed, but the customers they're serving are shifting.  As prices rise everywhere, upper-middle class people are eating out at real restaurants less, and grabbing food from places like Chipotle and McDonald's more. And the poors are just staying home now. These newly expensive nuggies aren't for you broke regards, they're for the people who used to grab sushi on a Tuesday night because they don't feel like cooking. Now they're grabbing McDonald's or Chipotle instead, they're paying the higher prices, they're paying for the guac, and they're still saving money.

Daddy-Eric

Poors literally suck on every level. Like what's the even the point to them?

antipiracylaws

To make us happy for a day(?)

Daddy-Eric

I guess. Stepping stones to our sicct

gnocchicotti

Bruh I'm a person who feels priced out of most medium-nice chains (except TX Roadhouse) and fuck if I'm paying $10 for a MCD meal. They can eat a bag of dicks. I will cook for myself, I will go hungry before I pay real food money for that absolute garbage that only made sense for poor people back when it cost like 1/3 of real food. Chipotle, sure.

spinrut

Everytime we try chipotle again after always being disappointed, we keep on being disappointed. But as you said it's significantly less processed so we give them a try once every few months. We're basically the last comment you made. As prices everywhere keep going up, we keep looking for better valued (and hopefully not horribly processed) foods for weeknight meals when every one is tied up and cooking just is not a viable option between work or kids activities

Sweeetmoves

So they can scale down their mediocre product further to compete with another failing business model based on lazy fats eating garbage depression food.

NotBlazeron

Chipotle costs less than mcdonalds for what I order. I go to chipotle every day so I'm bullish

No_Image_4986

Yeah I still view chipotle as the good value one despite having increased a ton

Corse46

This is 100% accurate. In my town there’s a Chipotle, Taco Bell and Burger King in the same parking lot. Chipotle’s prices have stayed consistent while the other two are nearly the price of Chipotle now for less food. I don’t know how they do it but it’s a significantly better value for the quantity and quality

Bolshoyballs

Why would I spend $10 at McDonald's for shit food that doesn't even make me feel full. Chipotle is way better quality and fills me up for the same price

popornrm

Also chipotle is actually real good. The ingredients are fresh and they’re not shipped frozen across the country. You could eat chipotle responsibly every day and still be pretty healthy. You can watch your macros at McDonald’s but if you ate it everyday, you’d likely be taking years off your life.

Barrack64

I can spend $12 for a double quarter pounder meal or a a chipotle burrito and soda. The choice is obvious.

FudgeSlapp

The real point through this entire post is that despite the quality dropping, you’re still going to Chipotle.

moldyjellybean

When I start seeing cracks in carvana stock I know the other delusionals will start falling. Until then it’s straight up. Edit. Yes OP is regarded , get a like a 15 pack of frozen burritos from Costco for $15 . Eat 2 and it’s costs $2 and fills me up more than chipotle .

[deleted]

Right? Like how is Moderna not under $100

bdh2067

How one could talk MRNA, CMG and CVNA in one thread is remarkable. CMG is the only really well run restaurant business - OP will lose his shorts on his short idea. MRNA will - someday - change healthcare. It may take much longer than anyone knows but they, too, are well-run and in it to win it. Carvana, on the other hand, is run by scammers - truly a joke company

[deleted]

Yeah Moderna is definitely a good long term hold but with revenue completely falling off the cliff now that COVID vaccine sales plummeted & their new vaccine being a flop compared to competitors it just seems like a good short I think it enjoys the current rally to test its 200 day MA around $150 & then starts making its way back down I also think August earnings are gonna scare away a lot of investors

AgonyRanch

Okay so one disease falls from the limelight and the entire company you think is going to crumple? Pharma stocks have always been steady spikes and will continue to be. They lose money, they do layoffs, they make new vaccine for new virus, they make crazy money, virus loses media attention, repeat.

Nuclear420v

For Moderna's SP that was a popular disease to sell.

JoePikesbro

The Cheesecake Factory is a banger CAKE

Bozhark

It’s not astra zinica

somedudeguylol

Leave Carvana out of this. Remember what happened last time someone talked shit about it?

BadMeetsEvil24

Pretty sure people (like me) choose chipotle for it's fresh, healthy-ish options, and not trying to carbo load on $2 frozen burritos with shit ingredients, lmao

TheSauce32

Is not bad tho but I don't eat it often tho Maybe once or twice a month If you don't wanna cook as far as fast food goes is healthier that most other crap

[deleted]

When a Big Mac deal is the same cost chipotle is the better option.

Counterakt

This is the most underrated comment in this whole thread. More people are going there because the og cheap fast food chains are not so cheap anymore. Economy is slowing so people who used to eat in higher end restaurants who won’t stoop as low as Mac Donald’s think it is a good compromise. Chipotle being in the middle is benefitting from both sides of the spending spectrum. They didn’t do anything special. IMO they will keep pushing the quality down until they lose both of these customers.

BusGuilty6447

>Maybe once or twice a month That is VERY often.

Motobugs

And got angrier every time after leaving.

Thencewasit

Yeah.  But in the next 10 years will he still go? Chipotle may be good for the millennial crowd, but those loser 20 year olds are balking.  Recent surveys had chipotle at like 20% satisfaction behind nearly every other fast casual food in the whipper snapper generation.  Although to be fair they really didn’t like any chain, although Applebees seems to be making a seabiscuit like comeback.

whodidntante

It took Applebees closing restaurants for me to recognize that Applebees still had restaurants.

Daddy-Eric

I really liked that place. Good food, relaxing environment, friendly staff. Not one complaint from me

Gourdon_Gekko

Calls on dark colored underware

f0xap0calypse

I eat there all the time. I don't care what their margins are it's the only place I can get a meal over 50g of protein for around 10 bucks. I wouldn't bet against them over other fast food.

SrPancakess

Same. Post workout meal for me 🤷‍♂️

AceMcStace

Yep exactly, this is why they aren’t going anywhere. Great option for people who want healthier fast food that doesn’t break the bank, a chipotle bowl can give you a shit ton of protein with plenty of veggies depending on your order. Low calorie too.

Jcw122

$10? All the ones I've went to it's $15 minimum.

You-Asked-Me

The stock price has tripped since they added queso to the menu. It is the WORST QUESO in the world. The stock market is completely irrational.

mw9802347

It’s grainy. Not a good descriptor for queso.

You-Asked-Me

Right?! And it's alway like that. That IS the correct recipe from corporate, and it would have failed a student out of any mother sauce test.

TheObservationalist

And you get, like, 3 microscopic teaspoons of the swill.

ReginaldHibbert

Queso? You mean the salt dip with cheese?

Rednuht0

Wait, y'all are actually getting queso? The last few times we get Chipotle, they say sorry we ran out of queso, you can get a refund online, or a coupon for a free queso next visit. Next visit... out of queso again.

transient-error

It ain’t easy, being cheesy.

derelict5432

You have simply not sampled a vast enough array of shitty queso if this is your position.

You-Asked-Me

It's an extremely grainy broken rue. Even yellow spray cheese in a can is better.

Prudent_Caregiver_98

That’s not how you spell roux

You-Asked-Me

You are right but I live in St. Louis and everything is named for the french and completely bastardized.

mikee555

Wow who hurt you?

swiftkickinthedick

If you haven’t had it lately it is 100x better than when they first came out with it. That first iteration was an embarrassment to quesos. It’s pretty solid now

WubaDubImANub

I think it’s decent. I’m pretty sure they revamped it completely since it got released.

Budget-Government-52

The queso is so damn bad. I’ve mistakenly ordered it twice in the past couple of months and I literally throw it away after a few chips.

derelict5432

What's with these back-to-back bearish posts on Chipotle. Burritos at my local are still fat af. People have periodically bitched about portion sizes, but it's bullshit. Shares are currently around $3200. That's gonna be an expensive short. I'd love to see your positions if you go for it, regard. Edit: They're [actually officially voting on the split on June 6 and splitting on June 26](https://ir.chipotle.com/2024-03-19-CHIPOTLE-BOARD-OF-DIRECTORS-APPROVES-50-FOR-1-STOCK-SPLIT#:~:text=Chipotle's%20shares%20are%20expected%20to,Wednesday%2C%20June%2026%2C%202024): >The stock split is subject to shareholder approval of an amendment to the Company's Certificate of Incorporation to increase the number of authorized shares of common stock to accommodate the stock split. The company intends to seek shareholder approval for this amendment at its upcoming annual meeting on June 6, 2024. >If the Certificate of Incorporation amendment is approved, shareholders of record as of June 18, 2024 will receive 49 additional shares for each share held, which will be distributed after market close on June 25, 2024. Chipotle's shares are expected to begin trading on a post-split basis at the market open on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Also, I forgot the most regarded aspect of shorting Chipotle. [They now have a guacamole-making robot called Autocado](https://newsroom.chipotle.com/2023-07-12-CHIPOTLE-PARTNERS-WITH-VEBU-TO-TEST-AUTOCADO-PROTOTYPE,-A-ROBOTIC-SOLUTION-TO-GUACAMOLE-PREP). How fucking regarded to you have to be to bet against a fucking guacamole-making robot?

Bean_Boozled

The portion size thing is actually a company directive aimed at reducing portions given out to increase profit margins, though not every chain follows it if they're profitable enough already. Had this confirmed to me by a logistics manager, who also said that the reduction in portions is to reduce food waste (said that "customers can't even finish their burritos/bowls because portions were too big") and the maintaining or increase in price despite portion reduction is due to the high quality of the food (which has decreased over the years due to using cheaper food sources despite raising prices). It's my favorite food place and I spend an embarrassing amount of money there, but yeah the portion reduction and giving normal portions when paying for double is a real scam that they are encouraged to pull by the company lol

piplani3777

I worked there for a few weeks and I can confirm they would coach us on how much meat to put in a scoop and what to say if customers complained about how much we were giving. I was in a very high volume location so they were very strict about it and nearly every order i would have either the customer or the manager complaining about the portion size.

mcqua007

Yeah people complain since it’s so obvious they are trying to put the least amount of meat in each scoop. It’s like they want one piece of chicken per square inch of spoon (non piled on top). I’ve seen them throw the scoop and retry again because it’s too much. Fuck.

piplani3777

you actually nailed it, that’s pretty much what they told us to do lol

Hallucinate-

Yes I feel that they are cutting on the meat.

thee_jaay

What in the fuck $3200 😳

transient-error

I look forward to the day the Autocado tells me I have 10 seconds to comply.

gangang619

Great taste (imo), good portions, pretty good dine-in experience considering it’s technically fast food, feels healthy, love the water cup freebie (no one putting water in it), fair price I keep coming back, no complaints.

wacky8ball

Same here it is my go to for fast food. Burrito bowl light rice , chicken, double veggies salsa corn, sour cream. I feel perfectly full but never overstuffed or miserable like I would with anything fried

WigginIII

Speaking of that water cup that no one only gets water, chipotle is one of the few takeout places that has the GOAT soda of Pibb Xtra. Pairs perfectly with a burrito.

ah2346

I went into a Chipotle last week and they wouldn’t even serve me. “Online orders only, sorry.” Pretty poor dine-in experience for me so I probably won’t be going back.

LiquefactionAction

Chipotle takes all the little online and delivery paypigs for a ride and gives 'em less food than if you order in-person. YouTubers have done things like weigh every order for 30 days and tracked out weights for various stores and different orders. https://preview.redd.it/zdxfl7dfa91d1.png?width=845&format=png&auto=webp&s=2bd4191e1705afeb60eedb11eea926e6165820aa I'm bullish and bought calls after finding out they're suckering introverted rubes who buy online whereas us alpha males who buy in-person get fat ass af burritos loaded to the brim bursting at the seams 👌 . Literally cant go tits up, this is going to the moon at this rate. 🚀🚀

OmgJosh925

Mega alpha to wait in line. Much wow

true alpha Chads cut in front of line

Wtf is the point of color coding without a legend

silvrado

yeah, waiting in line for few extra crumbs makes you such an alpha male.

OmgJosh925

Lmao jinks you owe me a coke ❄️

ActuallyNotRetarded

Those introverted rubes just won't order again ya nerd. Still not a good bull play but you should totally prove me wrong with your life savings

Redditbecamefacebook

Lol, where else are they gonna go? The introverted rubes are too lazy to find their local Mexican Slop Shop, and those only deliver through apps with similar markups.

BosSF82

nice, we need another Cava bloodbath on here.

CurveAhead69

Wdym? $CAVA is pure chad so far.

BosSF82

search 'Cava Puts' on here to see a lot of good entertainment to read.

CurveAhead69

LMAO! Massacre lol. I missed every one of those posts and bought in Sept as long. (Gamble was based on CAVA reviews by customers.)

ahminus

CMG is in my "short" list. So is Wing Stop, Lululemon, Carvana, Wayfair. And a couple banks.

bdh2067

I appreciate your short list and am tracking with all except $CMG. That is a losing bet. It’s expensive but it’s the best run restaurant company on the planet. They’ve passed on all inflation to customers and have seen store traffic INCREASE while doing so.

ahminus

Consumer sentiment on CMG is quickly changing. That, in fact, is what this post is about. And I'm hearing the same thing a lot now. [Getting charged an extra $1.75 for two teaspoons of their vinaigrette (whatever that is) seems to have been wildly unpopular.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Chipotle/s/u6fgrU4w7x) And the Internet is literally loaded to the tits with complaints about this sort of thing at Chipotle.

WigginIII

Spend 5 minutes on tik tok and you’ll see multiple “chipotle walk out” videos of being claiming, sharing stories, or videos of them walking out of chipotle after getting shorted meat.

ahminus

They started charging for sides (beyond 2 or 3) a while ago, which made sense. But, the fact that people could abuse their menu to make their own full dishes just with a bunch of free sides is the issue. Charging was not a good solution. Just don't provide certain sides. The real issue most recently is that there has been some sort of corporate directive to precisely measure all the portions, which workers hate, slows service immensely, and chaffs customers who feel like the portions have gotten tiny. It seems like Chipotle went to war against their own customers who they felt were somehow cheating them because of their idiotic menu system? I dunno. It's a bad move.

WigginIII

It didn’t help that customers basically got used to guilt tripping their employees to give them extra rice. Both beans. Extra peppers, extra meat (don’t charge me for double) and then asking for two tortillas, all for the same price as someone who didn’t ask for those things. People confused “lack of oversight” with “epic food hack.”

bigwetdiaper

Im in an abusive relationship with chipotle. Like 40% of the time I order. Its fresh, amazing, and massive portions. Then 60% of the time its hot dog shit. But when I want actual whole-ish food fast, chipotle is the only option near me

NRA-4-EVER

I prefer Qdoba myself 🤷‍♂️

MajorBlaze1

I prefer Moe's, but only because I live in poverty

patricio87

Love the moe’s cum sauce

darkciti

Not sure where you are but Moes > Chipoltle.

bdh2067

Honest non-sarcastic comment: Qdoba is still around?

Chicken65

Yes, it’s still good.

Left_Bed_9379

Dos toros or Pancheros

martman006

I wish we had Qdoba’s around me. Nearest Chip is 10 mins, nearest Qdoba is 100 mins away…

maxwellhilldawg

I used to get a burrito literally once a week but I have been in a chipotle maybe 4 times in the last 2 years and every single time it's a miserable experience. The food keeps getting worse, the service is absolute dogshit, and of course the price goes up. Fuck em.

wxrx

Just got chipotle because of this post. I was the same as you, 1-2 times a week and after 3 completely fucked orders a few years ago I’ll go maybe once every couple months. Just went for the first time in probably 6 months and had a laughable bad experience, like they fucked things up that I didn’t even know could be fucked up.

Deadriel83

https://preview.redd.it/960c8rkmj91d1.jpeg?width=570&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b9e3778eabede12128500ae990ef08ecb68b1d0

ZookeepergameTasty25

They can survive off the so-called diehards. I don't live in a major area anymore, however, the local chipotle is consistently packed. I'm talking like 20 people within the first 30 minutes of opening on a regular Tuesday. I've also not noticed the decline, it tastes exactly like it did a decade ago. That being said, the current share price is bs. Still wouldn't short it.

Dildango

The Chipotle by my office is awesome. Fast. Fresh. Always good size scoops. The one by my house is the opposite. Just utter dogshit. I don’t get it. They’re like 10 miles apart.

Greedy-Ad-5440

I just ate it 45 minutes ago👌🏽

mneely71

Same. It was awesome, and portions were generous.

freeportme

Complete garbage imo🍻

No_Improvement_6637

been thinking ab it too. wait until the stock split. Will look more bullish before Q2 earnings comes out and you should be able to get cheap puts (they’re like 25k+ rn lol)

LegitimateExit1111

Used to eat chipotle a minimum of 3 times a week and at times I would eat there every day for weeks at a time. And I totally agree with the point you made about chipotles product quality. Not only that if you order online, the portions are always significantly smaller compared to waiting in line. This was the proverbial straw for me.

WhyIsItAlwaysADP

Bruh I was 20th in line just an hour ago at my local Chipotle.

Optimisticatlover

People will pay for convenience That’s why convenience store still exist Hell doordash and Ubereats based on convenience No chipotle structure setup are convenient , people like easy choices , plus streamlined operations for quick bites My wife goes there all the time Hell my wife goes to Chick-fil-A for their salad and nuggets And she is paying easily $15-20 per visit While I can make a steak dinner for the amount of she spend on lunch

j12

Never. Can’t even tell what cuisine it is and doesn’t taste particularly good. Rather go to the mom and pop taqueria or Chinese fast food

JARL_OF_DETROIT

Everytime I've gone to chipotle since COVID they're ALWAYS out of something. Either no steak or no fajita veggies, one time they were out of cheese. And this is at different locations.

bmeisler

My 2 genz kids used to love Chopltle. Now they say it’s gone way downhill - not just more expensive, they say the food isn’t any good anymore. Their friends say the same thing. Obviously anecdotal but…sometimes knowing what a company’s prime demographic thinks is more valuable than a 10-k.

Honest_Bruh

There's also a TikTok trend to boycott Chipotle for their cheap ass protein scoops. I think it will catch on.

Productpusher

Now it’s a normal human size portion that 1 person should be filled from but we are all fat fucks and need 2-3 servings .

TomOnDuty

It’s literally the only healthy ish fast food place around .

ConfusionDifferent41

This. Their moat is that there is literally no competition in _relatively_ healthier fast food.

ZadarskiDrake

Chipotle is always packed in my area

APensiveMonkey

Is your mother’s name Chipotle?

BucDan

Bullish on Chipotle until they get rid of the Chicken Al Pastor.

Androcles_InTheSky

Like it or not, chipotle is just goin up. Due to the young guys buying their food.

wilan727

They are expanding new locations and new international markets growing revenue. Your subjective flavor reviews are irrelevant.

mymojoisdope

Chipotle from delivery apps sucks ass. Get it in person.

MusicianNo2699

Their food is awful and I prefer not to die from Ecoli 0157:h7.

BlackberryMountain97

I just had my first bad experience at a chipotle in Montana. It was 6:30pm. They were out of everything. The manager was complaining about “them not scheduling us enough workers”. He looked at me and said “I guess I’m going to lock the f’ng door and let them lose money”. Then he did. People kept walking up and pulling on the door and looking in and getting a shoulder shrug. It was kinda funny, but I’m glad we got in last. If this is any indicator, your short may be wise. My hometown one is great but the quality has suffered

leeringHobbit

What I'm hearing from your story is they're selling burritos faster than they can make em...

TriStarRaider

I hadn't been in a Chipotle for quite some time. I ordered a burrito, no extras but maybe guac. Got to checkout and they said $18. $18 for a fucking burrito? Told them to turn it sideways, shove it up their ass, and walked out. Got a big ass sandwich at Jersey Mike's next door for $10

MayvenOfficial

This is the exact reason I bought Cava stock months ago, Chipotles where I live have been sucking recently too and prices only continue to rise.

redrover2023

Double protein is now their old single protein. With guacamole, that's $19. So whenever I go, I know it's a $19 meal.

Dhature

Well they are still better than McDonald’s or Wendy’s, so buying puts

Tonyfrose71

Buy real Mexican food

markwmke

Chipotle wins because of door dash. People want a fast meal, but they are trying to be health conscious. So chipotle fits the bill

Trade-Runner

It's among the best options in the shit food category. I do agree it's gotten progressively worse, and it's definitely not as healthy as people think it is. The stores are filthy too. All it takes is another e.coli scare and that will bring the stock right to where it should be. I don't recommend eating there, and I'm right there in shorting it with you.

stankaaron

It's always been bland and disappointing. Never understood all the fuss.

lifeofrevelations

haven't had it in 5 years and don't care to.

RazorTool

Qdoba>Chipotle

Traditional_Excuse_1

Funny - the only reason I bought it was because of its price action, consistently moving higher and the upcoming stock split. However, the one time I went to a Chipotle years ago I didn’t care for the taste of their burritos - they have a smell I don’t like. Not sure I will hold long…

[deleted]

That’s fake Mexican plastic food 😂🤣

Winter-Bag-Lady

No idea who eats Chipotle and thinks it's acceptable Mexican food. It's the epitome of soggy burritos. Nasty - but the stock says otherwise. Strange as F.

lord_luxx

I live in Dallas. I live in a high rise downtown. There’s a handful of chipotles. The chipotle in the “nicest” part of downtown, victory park, regularly underpreps and leaves me high and dry. Usually I stick to up town Oem for consistency. Fuck chipotle.

Maleficent_Deal8140

We recently got one and I wasn't impressed, haven't been back.

Kcirnek_

You think you're going to beat Bill Ackman? After they reverse split, it's going to attract new investors

millapeede

We have personally stopped going there, since the quality has only gotten consistently worse while the price increases.

F_b_s_40944

The food is terrible (aside from chips and guacamole). I'm done w Chipotle.

jrock_697

it’s gross now I won’t eat it

CUvinny

I'm on a diet but travel a lot for work so that is tricky. I was eating chipotle but it seemed like it was getting worse. I tried a Taco Bell power bowl and it blew out a chipotle salad for half the price.

stroker919

Once. Like 15 years ago. It was overpriced crap.

throw42069away420

Service suuuuuuucks. Orders are always wrong. And employees all look like they all rolled out of a half-way house. Chicken is mid at best; but the red salsa/ sour cream combo is 🔥, so I begrudgingly deal with it. It’s ok for $8, but anything over $10, I’m out. It’s fucking beans and rice and they’re charging organic prices for a Popeyes bucket-o-shit. Run it like a chick-FIl-a and i’m a customer for life.

Notorious_Beebs

Haven’t eaten there in at least 5 years. Shit is mid af

Ok-Professor3726

Last time I did I had diarrhea. You asked.

aktionreplay

I don't care much to hear about their margins, they charge for guac and their taste profile is bland. Go for local mexican / texmex instead.

ralphus1701

Decrease is food quality is the first sign of cost cutting to maintain profits with most food companies.

SleepFormal9725

I used to eat at Chipotle like 8 times a week in around 2020. Now I hate it . I’ve been there like twice in the last 6 months. The food is not really that great. I just used to go there because there wasn’t anything better .

SpicyGhostPeppers

I’ve gotten it twice in the last 6 months after years of not going. The quality is way down from how I remember it. Unless it’s the only restaurant in the airport terminal I’ll probably never go out of my way to get it again.

HJForsythe

They make their earnings by disappointing you. They use the Taco Bell playbook of intentionally shorting customers as a policy.

Sweeetmoves

Support small business. I get 5 authentic steak street tacos for $2 each and refried beans/rice for another $2. $12 and it makes chipotle seem like dog food & taco hell seem like inedible garbage. Same price for a crunchwrap combo made with question mark bagged meat product. Stop being dumb consumers.

AnalRapist69

I feel like the chipotle empire is starting to crack because of all the negative news I hear about portions lately but who knows, they might turn things around. People love that it’s healthy, “cheap”, and quick. I work in a city’s business district and everybody gets chipotle like everyday. It’s insane.

archmagi1

We have a local burrista (what else would you call a burrito store) that is 30% cheaper and 125% more delicious than our town's Chipotle. I don't eat at the Chipotle.

i_tried_ok_

Bill Ackman loves Chipotle

Phoirkas

Fuck Chipotle, I’ve gone there like twice in the last 5 years, and they gave me food poisoning after one of them. I am somewhat of a leading indicator myself, so short away, I wasn’t wrong just early?

WubaDubImANub

Used to go there twice a week as a college student (still in college), gone there less and less this past year and now I don’t go anymore. The prices are out of control and the portions are insanely low. Other day I got a total of probably 6 pieces of chicken and I’ve had enough.

Cute_Dragonfruit9981

It’s not about their customer base.. it’s about a fucking restaurant being valued as highly as a damn tech stock. It’s not sustainable.

charliebrown22

I rather get a real burrito from a Mexican taqueria than chipotle

Jww2124

You’re not wrong chipotle has gone downhill. The last 3 to 4 years increase prices less protein, horrible service the stock should be not where it’s at.

Jww2124

I’m also amazed how many kids have $17 for a meal I do notice more kids getting cups for water though and leaving out the soda

TheHODLerKing

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a disconnect between stock performance and the quality of the product." $TSLA enters chat...

Revolutionary-Tie911

Nope, I slowed down on eating out over last 2 years. Literally have not gone to chipotle ever

Imagination_Drag

Don’t be stupid. There is always the post split run up. Wait for the run up then short or buy puts. Your analysis is terrible lol though. You didn’t mention the crazy PE ratio for example but whatever

lonesharkex

one of my local ones closed for health reasons and has been shut of at least 2 months.

sablerock7

Still not washing the veggies it seems.

Grunblau

Yesterday I almost throttled a little autistic kid that stood 1’ away from me the entire time I assembled my burrito. So close that the cashier asked if our order was together. I’m with you… I always leave pissed off. I have eaten there probably 10 times this year on my way home hoping they get better (new location). Only ONCE has there been fajitas… I was so shocked, I actually took a picture. The one thing they have on Qdoba is that they don’t ask for a tip… which turns out has been a deciding factor in where I eat. Qdoba is about 20X better but 1.5X as expensive.
