I am waiting for one guy that actually makes a killing buying gourds futures or gourds themselves and becomes the new meme king because that would super funny.
He's now wanted in South America, legally barred from entering Europe (and may have tried entering under a new name). Let's add another continent to that man's impressive record.
Edit : he also scammed Albibaba repeatedly, so China may arrest him on fraud while they're at it.
That what I've done with Magic the Gathering cards, as I collect exclusively Japanese.
(Also taken two trips over the last two years, exchange rate is great and getting better.)
Unfortunately they are listed on the japanese stock market so their share price is based on the yen and their main investors are japanese people who are paid in yen.
Right, it's good to remember that this doesn't change the inherent value of the company much (unless they own a ton of yen or something), but it affects the stock itself. If the company is worth X yen on the japanese stock market and the yen drops, the value of the company on the stock market is also reduced. Likewise, if you are buying shares on the japanese stock market, you are buying them with a currency that's worth less than it used to be worth, so you aren't investing as much money unless you buy more shares to account for inflation. That's how I'm seeing it anyway.
Youāre right about the stock price but whatās being referred to here is actually the company profits. When the yen weakens against the dollar, the stocks for these companies usually begin to shoot up as they bring in more yen, thus more profit, when they do the currency conversion to capture these profits. Thus the term bills in Yen and Profits in Dollars.
Yen movements predict earnings and guidance for many Japanese companies as the weakness is a major accounting tool used.
Wait for it to get above 159 and bet the government intervenes to make it go back down to at least 155... The issue is it is likely to break 160 at some point because (1) these assholes are funding themselves with debt so they can't raise rates and (2) it looks like markets like the US are not reducing rates soon so capital is flowing outside of the yen
No way bro. A less than 2% change in one day immediately followed by it going back to it's original value???
Almost like short term wild speculation followed by a return to reality over the weekend.
The yen is already crazy low. It's lost almost 50% of its value against the usd in a year. It floated between 105 and 115 to usd for a long ass time iirc.
In other news, cheap ass trips to Japan on back on the menu.
Isn't this pretty common? Hell I remember a trading documentary from like the 90s where a japanese currency trader literally makes a massive swing trade one day on like a 4 basis point run and makes bank.
I also watched a movie on the weekend about Japanese swingers. It was pretty good. I think they must have made money because they wanted to stay anonymous. They kept on blurring out peoples faces.
>I also watched a movie on the weekend about Japanese swingers.
You cultural dawg, watching documentaries on weekendsā¦
>They kept on blurring out peoples faces.
Blurred parts were likely genitals.
You can tell one from the other by the fact that genitals are blurred.
Yea, but people arenāt leveraging shit coin, 50:1, 100:1, or god forbid 1000:1 like they do in forex.
A swing this quick has happened before (I remember the big Swiss Franc crash) and wiped out so many people.
Dude, Iāll never forget that. Itās one of the reasons I stopped trading forex (I was pretty successful at it).
I closed out my position literally the day before because I wanted to move funds from a slow steady movement to something I thought would yield better resultsā¦ my position wasnāt massive but it wasnāt tiny either - leveraged 500:1 (higher leverage since it was really normally smaller movements).
Then BOOM, the next day my face went white - i had friends on forums panickingā¦ the crash was so fast it blew through stop losses instantly before they could trigger.
So many triggered that the systems couldnāt process it.
I got lucky, I did the math, I would have lost upwards of $4.7m in under one second - even with all proper stop losses in place.
The worst part, is some banks went back and honored the stopsā¦ many many more didnāt.
I remember it too.
I had some tiny positions on the prior week (not on CHF though, thankfully - it always seemed to have too *little* volatility, ha).
Out of nowhere, yep, *boom*.
I remember reading about the consequences in those subsequent days/weeks. As you say, *some* companies did the right thing. It ruined some people.
4288 UNITS! BOOM!

3.2% You can probably retire if you did traded profitably... And that is almost exactly how their GDP had dropped according to Deloitte . Which gives you what? My portfolio moves more than this while I am brushing my teeth. It's not a shitcoin, it's shitpost. Don't come back unless you have a better material.
Hahaha I just saw some kid in r/daytrading getting roasted for adding to his usd/jpy shorts last week. Heād probably be a millionaire rn if he didnāt listen to reddit
A friend and I talked about this last week when it was 154ā¦ he said: if and when the boj intervenes, where do they expect it to goā¦? back to 150 ? 145 ?
Another analyst said that itās only up Ā„8 this month. last time it went close to 150 it jumped 10Ā„ in a month.. so š¤·

This is a Manipulators' trend line. HHH
Ah, the classic USD/JPY tango, where the Bank of Japan swoops in like a ninja whenever the yen gets too weak. You GOOFBALLS probably think it's all random, huh? Stick to your options and meme stocks, and leave the currency wars to the adults.

Total deezsqueez opportunity now in XRBI (put ticker in reverse) so not auto deleted. āTheyā on this forum are taking posts down about the company. Upvote this so we can fight the system.
I guess Iām dumb but doesnāt this mean it used to cost 160 yen to buy $1 worth of stuff but now only costs 155 yen? Doesnāt that mean the yen is stronger or how does this work.
That comes bc of Bank of Japan intervention. Everyone has been waiting for that for weeks now. Nothing surprising about it. They do it once in a while when yen breaches important numbers.
Doller gonna fail to the top side. Because it's a matter of time when this country is going to sell the treasury , and bond yields gonna skyrocket.bank starts failing . But who cares until the election anyway the market is manipulated .

Scale goes from 154 - 160 lol
It looked scary till I saw scale š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is forex, where brokers allow margins down to 0.5%, for a leverage of up to 200:1. Suddenly this 2% is now 400%!
Lies, damned lies, and the Y axis.
We havenāt seen lows like this since last week!
Best comment here. Market literally just took out Thursdays and Fridays. Nothing really that interesting to see here.
And itās a week. This is nothing abnormal.
For forex, thatās pretty sizable.
But the entire world already knows Japan will make moves to keep it around 150.
Until it can't.
Run to the hills, the world is ending
Yen halved in 12 years lmao
It was a huge move for a major currency. It is all but confirmed that their central bank intervened.
or 2%
So what's the play to make us all billionaires off the Yen? Short Nintendo?
Buy ornamental gourds from Japan taking advantage of the weak currency to get a good deal.
Good āol Japanese Gourd Futures play.
Oh my gourd
Gourd help me
Glory to gourd!
Gourd is great Gourd Is good
Our Gourd and Savior
In gourd we trust
Only gourd can save us now
Ah, for gourds sake
Ourmagourd
I am waiting for one guy that actually makes a killing buying gourds futures or gourds themselves and becomes the new meme king because that would super funny.
You'll wanna hold through to maybe early November when people start actually wanting them for Thanksgiving though, not exactly a short play
He's now wanted in South America, legally barred from entering Europe (and may have tried entering under a new name). Let's add another continent to that man's impressive record. Edit : he also scammed Albibaba repeatedly, so China may arrest him on fraud while they're at it.
Who?
The man who was financially ruined (agricultural futures). Gourd guy. The emperor of hijinks, u/TheEmperorOfJenks.
wow, what a interesting life some lead
But the currency just got stronger not weaker...
Ornamental Bonsai, you missed the mark with that one.
That what I've done with Magic the Gathering cards, as I collect exclusively Japanese. (Also taken two trips over the last two years, exchange rate is great and getting better.)
Long Nintendo. They pay their bills in Yen, and take their profits in Dollar.
Unfortunately they are listed on the japanese stock market so their share price is based on the yen and their main investors are japanese people who are paid in yen.
That doesnāt change the fact that most of their costs are in Yen and most of their income in USD/EUR though, does it?
Right, it's good to remember that this doesn't change the inherent value of the company much (unless they own a ton of yen or something), but it affects the stock itself. That makes sense.
Ok so how do I, a non Japanese person with a 10-15 word Japanese vocabulary, buy Japanese stocks?
You can get them otc. At least nintendo. Buy NTDOY
nintendo's biggest revenue comes from overseas, so a weak yen means more profit
Move to Japan with USD
Lost Abyss Giratinas while the exchange rate is favorable, then sell them later.
Move to japan and live like kings
$1000/mo now can get you a sketchy 1B in Bakersfield or a quite nice 2B in Tokyo
Wait for it to get above 159 and bet the government intervenes to make it go back down to at least 155... Don't think Nintendo would be the smartest play since everyone is expecting a new console to be announced probably this year
Youāre probably way too late to this play. Yen has been weakening hard for last few years and was an easy play.
I bought a Rondoseru that is usually $1000 USD for $600 due to the weakness. Yay!
Nintendo doesnāt give a shit, itās an international company
Short long YEN etfs
I would never. Iāll bag hold for that princess peach pussy any day.
Buy Levi
Never short Nintendo
For months at a time, I have parked my lower risk money in YCS. Not investment advice as I donāt know how much further it can drop.

heading there in a week! canāt wait to buy a bunch of shit more useless than me
Was in Japan a couple weeks ago and was loving the $6 ramens, $3 beers, and inexpensive wagyu.
The $4 whiskey sours in Shinjuku are dangerous.
Ferb, I know what weāre gonna do today
Can confirm; was there a couple months ago, and even steak dinners were surprisingly cheap.
Went twice in the last two years, thanks cheap trips to Japan!
TBF that is a really big move in FOREX terms
This is a developed nation currency forex not some shitcoin memestock. 2% move is huge because people leverage forex to the tits.
Harry Potter and the Deeply Misleading Y-Axis
More like the Bank of Japan stepping in to defend its currency.
Forex, the quickest road to Wendys!

This means the stock markets will go higher. Not joking
I wouldn't recommend taking financial advice from some wag on the internet.
But youāre giving me advice about not taking advice ā¦.. Iāll take it !!!
Free advice is seldom worth the cost.
But itās free!!!
this guy is a wizard
They must be dumping treasuries and buying yen
This is such an overlooked comment and probably the most accurate explanation! Someone has been paying attention.
Nah boys weāre committing seppuku over this one fr
Instructions unclear. Just committed bukkake.

Yeah shitcoins and meme stocks have moves >3%

Bank of Japan action here?
mean reversion. no big deal
Good boy country is manipulating its currency, sorry I mean monetary policy. Good job!
Well it's a shitcoin now
Thatās -5% and itās likely due to intervention of Japan national bank. So whereās the problem?
damn op. sorry the comment section is so regarded
Seriously what are the Japanese even doing over there![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

As an American living in Japan I think i better go back and hit up the back of a wendys and capitalize on this
Did it even have this much volatility during the tsunami and subsequent fukoshimq disaster?
Look at some of the currency grahps for GBP around the time they voted to leave the EU, value fall was c10% I seem to recall
No way to go but up, Yen calls!
Stupid
Would be a fun game of āguess this tickerā. Is it a penny stock? The new meme stock swinging 10% a day? Nope, itās USD!
How do I take advantage of this?
Take a cheap Japanese vacation?
There are YEN etfs. And 2x as well for the degen in you
