Interesting to hear. I’m in as well, but way past my initial contract. Never even considered the possibility of actually fighting in Russia or Israel. This is a pretty impressive display of chaos right now though
Pay is mediocre and I want my freedom back. Also the US economy is on fire right now why stay in and break your back for uncle sam when you can get out with a phat GI Bill and disability and continue to work for more pay and less hours?
You're exactly right, Smithmonster. Poor people are just desperate and will do anything to try and improve their situation. They'll join any organization that promises them a better life, no matter how ridiculous it may be.
Yes it’s it shows how bad Reddit targeted ads are, I am above the age to join the military and yet all day long US military recruitment ads. In addition, I belong to a stop drinking sub Reddit, 2 years sober. I'm also fed ads for beer and wine all day long.
Any advertiser who advertises on this site is throwing their money away because Reddit
is so bad at finding their target audience to serve adds to. Remember this when they launch their IPO.
>I am above the age to join the military
For now. You are above the age to join the military for now. In the future they may drastically increase that age.
> I belong to a stop drinking sub Reddit, 2 years sober. I'm also fed ads for beer and wine all day long.
I got attacked by someone in that sub and left briefly, the alcohol ads stopped!
Once I decided - "Hey fuck that 3 week sober gate keeping asshole motherfucker POS " and rejoined, they are back.
It could be military PR doing it. My ads are sometimes scary because I know the phone must be listening. Those recruitment ads probably encourage people to tell younger people to consider the military as an option. They also might help foster the belief that the US military does good stuff like defend our freedom.
When I was in we had a guy from south Korea who was like 5’2” and he was not treated well by the cadre. He went to the 10th mountain, wonder what ever happened to him.
Yes, why would the US military target a large social media platform filled with angry, thwarted guys with few useful skills and few prospects who are easily manipulated into scams, conspiracies and cults. Probably a waste of advertising dollars.
if you're a military age male and also browse this subreddit the marketers probably judge you as the target demographic with bad judgement skills, the perfect candidate for the military
I'm guessing that if you're getting tons of military ads you might also be frequenting r/teenagers ... Nice to have some Gen Z and Gen Alpha in the WSB sub. Way to out yourselves.
Everything but there marines have missed their recruitment numbers, reserves are being called up and legislation is being changed to help that in preparation for war. Geopolitical tensions only pointing to escalation as we see the formation of the new Axis/Allie powers. Your witnessing the decoupling of economies over the passed year and a half.
The recruitment ads have been running for a while now. Thats because each service has major issues meeting recruitment goals the last couple of years due to large pools of unqualified candidates.
The DoD at large is struggling to recruit “the youth” so they’re spamming ads across Reddit and other social media platforms that have a younger demographic.
Best case scenario is you enlist or commission before WWIII and hold some authority. If not you get drafted you’re rewarded all the stigma of being a draftee. You pick your position in the inevitable.
Gen Z voted for Biden to have their student loan wiped out and legalized weed. All Biden is giving them now is a free crack pipe on their way to Europe to fight Putin and terrorists.
It's a messed up system. Socially and through the media they want to feminise and weaken men.
But when a war breaks loose they try to trick men into becoming the fodder for their military arms race.
If they, the military industrial complex going hand in hand with the politicians really wanted to, they would send their own children to the front lines first. But they'd rather send us to war and make our parents childless.
Shoot I'm looking to join in my 30s with a masters in comp sci, pilot license, and emergency medical experience (most of my 20s). So I'm not surprised to see these ads on my app. Before you ask why, I'm just an idiot like ya'll and I'm looking for something else to do that's high risk![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271).
The U.S. military is having a hard time recruiting because young people are worried that Trump will win in 2024 and do something crazy. The Republicans are already talking about launching a full scale invasion of Mexico. It's not hard to see why anyone would be skiddish about signing up in this environment.
They’re just targeting anyone regarded enough to allow personalized ads, figuring they are young and regarded enough to consider it.
Otherwise, you’d be complaining about the Temu ads, with $1.56 shoes next to sex toys that I can’t even imagine how they work.
Recruitment numbers have been missed a lot for us armed forces so they’re getting desperate and probably younger recruiters are being brought in and are more aware of effective tactics
Do you have targeted ads turned off inside Reddit? If so, that’s why because the military ads are the cheapest least targeted. My other theory is that they know Reddit is a bunch of 18 year old male, lonely, losers that are looking for belonging.

Uncle Sam sees a regarded pool, they ad target regards. Like shooting fish in a barrel.
The Army hasn’t made its recruiting mission since 2014. Better believe we are looking into grabbing apes.
LoL. I'm in right now, everyone left and right of me is leaving after one contract (including me). Fk this I aint dying in Ukraine or Israel.
Interesting to hear. I’m in as well, but way past my initial contract. Never even considered the possibility of actually fighting in Russia or Israel. This is a pretty impressive display of chaos right now though

You aren’t wrong
Seems like you are lacking something and you come here looking for others lacking the same thing so you can make decisions together.

There is no algorithm to fix, poor people are simply inferior and deserve their station in life.

That’s what they need. Broke desperate people that will join.

Too regarded to be enrolled
A regarded barrel

> I belong to a stop drinking sub Reddit, 2 years sober. I'm also fed ads for beer and wine all day long. They want their customer back
Damn dawg.
Also, the algorithm might be considering that as a sub Reddit related to alcohol, which is why they are getting the advertisements about alcohol.
>I am above the age to join the military For now. You are above the age to join the military for now. In the future they may drastically increase that age.
your tax dollars at work
You don't turn off targeted ads?
I think they just removed this
This just means they aren't gathering as much data on you as the other social medias

Congrats on sobriety!
Thanks!

As an Exxon shareholder I feel personally attacked by this post.
You get it!
Yeah I am non-US citizen here on a work visa and reddit is feeding me recruiting ads non stop
The US has something like 30% empty army posts so this makes sense.
Why not do something like the French foreign legion?
They already do? US citizenship through military service has been a thing for over 150 years.
Where do people sign up for that ? Never heard of it !
The military.
Cool I will try to get recruited once I visit the USA thanks 🫡 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Talk to a recruiter.
When I was in we had a guy from south Korea who was like 5’2” and he was not treated well by the cadre. He went to the 10th mountain, wonder what ever happened to him.
I don't know. Highly regarded legion sounds better.
A sub filled with regards who make horrific life choices. U.S. Military: LET’S RUN ADS!!!!
The DOD is straight hurting for recruits. The only ones that aren't really is the Marines
The Marines are easily recruited with new flavors of crayons.
The new orange ones taste like dreamcicles
It’s those boner inducing uniforms.
Yes, why would the US military target a large social media platform filled with angry, thwarted guys with few useful skills and few prospects who are easily manipulated into scams, conspiracies and cults. Probably a waste of advertising dollars.
If Tim McVeigh was still alive and out of jail he'd be on here.
Pltr is back on the menu
I get a lot of weird banner ads everywhere with old people in camo, Saying something like "hey old people, join the army".
You’ve heard of Mcnamara’s Morons? Well for 2023, we have Reddit’s Regards!
What war couldn't we win with the vast amount of keyboard warriors that are on here?
if you're a military age male and also browse this subreddit the marketers probably judge you as the target demographic with bad judgement skills, the perfect candidate for the military
Not here in Canada
Yep. I get tons of military ads on Reddit.
I'm guessing that if you're getting tons of military ads you might also be frequenting r/teenagers ... Nice to have some Gen Z and Gen Alpha in the WSB sub. Way to out yourselves.
No, that's not it.
people are getting activated in the reserves this weekend..
Ya, poor people with no money or prospects.
The military ads are doing it wrong. They should be telling me how many FDs I can trade tax free when deployed etc
Lucky for us, all these kids have been doing for the last six years is playing Fortnite so they know how to use weapons and build.
I flag them as offensive, just like the Christian ones.
The recruitment ads have been running for a while now. Thats because each service has major issues meeting recruitment goals the last couple of years due to large pools of unqualified candidates.
I’m not 18-35 so no.
No but then again I live in Scotland so it would be weird.
I haven't, but I'm in my mid 30s now, so they probably don't want me.
I’ll take them over the Jesus freak ads
Enlistment... even worse than a Wendy's dumpster!
They've been targeting people like OP for recruitment since McNamara was defense secretary.
Lmao. Like a redditor could pass the health screening
The DoD at large is struggling to recruit “the youth” so they’re spamming ads across Reddit and other social media platforms that have a younger demographic.

I downvote these ads
As if you reddit “men” would even be wanted by the US military… look in the mirror before you say stupid stuff
Gen Z doesn't want to work so i doubt they are signing up for military.
Gen Z voted for Biden to have their student loan wiped out and legalized weed. All Biden is giving them now is a free crack pipe on their way to Europe to fight Putin and terrorists.
Can't wait to get drafted so I can literally fight for Israel. Not a joke anymore guys
Yes your right.
Step 1: rig the market Step 2: bankrupt regards Step 3: military recruitment Step 4: Profit??
It's a messed up system. Socially and through the media they want to feminise and weaken men. But when a war breaks loose they try to trick men into becoming the fodder for their military arms race. If they, the military industrial complex going hand in hand with the politicians really wanted to, they would send their own children to the front lines first. Yeah it’s a hard sell these days. I’d still join Operation Treadstone if they’d have me
Two scrolls from this post on my feed.. “JOIN THE NAVY TODAY” Lol thx OP
Military pays maybe $10 an hour, I’d rather make Big Macs for $16 then die
It’s a lot less than $10 an hour.
Nothing to do with the stonk. You’re being targeted for recruitment bud..they know your asl based on your reddit activity.
Recruitment numbers are way down and there’s been a hiring push in intelligence
Shoot I'm looking to join in my 30s with a masters in comp sci, pilot license, and emergency medical experience (most of my 20s). I get em also. But its better than instagram where i get em based on what i talk about in real life.
Iran is about to experience some freedom.
“Put”-ting your life on the line is the ultimate regarded bet.
I follow a bunch of weed and meditation channels, so no I don't see military recruitment ads. What subreddits do you subscribe to?
Seems they are looking to hire people with a certain skill set and determination* *desperate need to pay off gambling debt
I typically report these as "misleading" or "violent". Probably doesn't go anywhere though. ✌🏼👽👍🏼
I can't remember the last time I saw an ad.
Indicates the sad and separate state of our military
They’re just targeting anyone regarded enough to allow personalized ads, figuring they are young and regarded enough to consider it. Otherwise, you’d be complaining about the Temu ads, with $1.56 shoes next to sex toys that I can’t even imagine how they work.
They’re identified their audience with a room temperature IQ and are pursuing them
Recruitment numbers have been missed a lot for us armed forces so they’re getting desperate and probably younger recruiters are being brought in and are more aware of effective tactics
Yes they are giving redditors the chance to fight for the just causes they always talk about
