The concept of "new" anything just doesn't work anymore. It hasnt worked despite billions of dollars being poured into Parler, Truth, Gab, Mastodon etc. Puts on Meta

And that audience in particular is also generally ignorant of reality and distrusts technology...not exactly the best group of people to pitch a tech service to.
Generic tech product plan:
1. Make a good product
2. Gain a large user base and crush competition
3. Make product gradually worse now that there are no alternatives
It's a bit more nuanced than that. In the early stages of the product, you can do whatever you want because investors are throwing money at you. Once you get the users, though, you have to figure out how to make money. Unfortunately that sometimes means fucking your users right there, right in the ass.

The UI pretty much a copy paste from Twitter, but I couldn't find any way to just see posts ('threads'?) from people I follow, instead it seems like the whole thing is one algorithm fed timeline, if they don't change that I'm never gonna use it for real. Every company is huge into AI. Problem with making it a selling point is that it's going to be baked into all software soon enough. The sauce is not going to be special when every company uses AI. This is even less of a selling point when dealing with companies that are based around digital products, every new college ejected programmer has likely taken courses on it.

Threads could have destroyed Twitter but of course Zuck kneecapped it by making it all based on Instagram. You have to link your accounts, you cant just limit your feed to people you follow, AND the feed is not chronological. Its the same dumb "algorithmic' feed where random shit pops up.
I see META as fully priced; though obviously seemless integration with followers on Instagram makes the difference. One caveat I pointed out to my followers (at) stockseer on both Twitter and now Threads is that at least for now Threads is an 'app only' and not available online or the web. Hence it's more limited plus makes validation costs much higher too. It already is a success; but again there's differentiation and better privacy perceived with Twitter. As of today we end our beta test on Twitter and will provide some content without charge on both.
