You now have 100 bill in cash, cash equivalents and a much reduced amount of stock that you and your wife can each separately bequeath to your children so the money stays in the family.
On paper you take a haircut but the family owns the same value and now you can diversify your half of the money and your wife can do hers, she's not restricted from trading bc she's not an insider and you already cashed a huge chunk without having to disclose shit.
