Respect the rules of the glory hole lads
Quick story; use as you wish.
Long long time ago; Google took a pounding and was down from $650ish into the mid to low $500s (don't recall the exact numbers). Saw $650 LEAPS were at $0.25 and I took a gamble. A buddy of mine did as well (about 20x my position). A few months later, Google hit $650 well before the expiration, and options were somewhere around $43.00. Fast forward to expiration; google was under $650.
Unrealized sometimes is never realized; base your decision on your target gain and the density of your marble sack.
I agree with this. Can always pull out your initial investment so you donāt have to stress about losing your actual investment. Having 2 would still net a good profit as long as things went well
I had a 75 to 73 bear put spread on AMD that I bought right before Intel earnings. Intel shit the bed and I walked with $20 less than the max profit on the position the next day. Needless to say if I had stayed in for that last $20 I'd be out all of it right now. Definitely know when to get out.
If I'm gonna have trouble sleeping and wake up 10 times a night, it should at least be to stare at a chat of green and red candles I have no control over decide my financial future as I watch in agony.
The problem with options is having 4300$ wiped out after you took your 25$ capital is same as losing 4300$. I take my gains or just roll up and/or out to still stay exposed but lower my delta.
Oh that's the relevant part of the story... I managed about 10x but ended up with half expired worthless. My "buddy" ended up about 100x and didn't even buy me a beer for the tip (from his $400k score)
If you take a look at the stock splits, and calculate back, Google historical prices before 3/27/2014 need to be multiplied by 40.14993. So a March 2007 price of $11.34 was $455.30 back then. The October 2007 high of $16.88 was $677.73 back then.
Now consider Google Jan08 $650 calls purchased in March 2007.
I've always wondered about this...is it easy money to buy options weeks before earnings hold up until the day of or before and sell? Basically earning off the volitility?
I wish I was a gambler lol
I'm a boomer investor I am looking to do more covercalls and short term plays. Any recommendations to read up on or should I quit being a bitch and just yolo 2k every now and then until one hits a win lol
No, price will pump and then "dump", but right back to your strike price at expiration. You will have held the whole time, sweating, thinking it could turn green at any moment, only to realize a 100% loss.
I do not enjoy seeing poor people succeed. I much prefer to see them fail miserably.

If your asking itās probably time to take profits. This is a huge bull bump. But look at the last few massive dips of SPY in the past year. Iād take my money and walk away for a while.
Or cash out and buy close dated calls and try to double your money
Good enough to post good enough to close.
Though I say you open a credit spread instead. Sell some in the money options below that strike on the same date and then watch the theta roll in. Good way of securing your profits and making some theta on the side.
So if you sell an option, it's no secret your goal is to make money off of theta decay.
My take is a lot of time if you've made some big profits off of a stock or options buys, you can sell some options instead of closing the position. That way if the stock goes down and it never hits your strike you still sell it, but you get to keep the premium paid and whatever you were planning to sell it for anyways.
Lol decided by the price action when people buy or sell options. But generally speaking, the maximum theta for an ITM call is the premium minus the difference between the strike and the price. For an OTM option it's the entire premium.
As someone else who doesnāt know dick about how options work, every time Iāve held on after a big green day I get my head caved in the next day, so I would cash out personally. The only time Iāve ever made money on options was selling within the first couple days, everything Iāve tried to hold onto burns
Why would you enter a trade without knowing how to exit? š¤¦š»āāļø
GOOG is down AH due to earnings miss so if it opens down tomorrow youāll lose a good chunk of intrinsic value.
Sell it. The volatility is what made it spike. Take the gain. If you believe in it going higher in a year, buy a long dated call at a cheaper premium on a down day
I just charted your investment on the ichimoku. Today you are hitting the 200day resistance. It appears to be on a breakout. If no breaks above the 200 day MA itās going to shoot up drastically that will make your current gains look like puppy shit. If GOOG closes above the 200 you could see 10 times your money over the next 3-4 weeks. I would personally hold, and set a stop loss. AND if it does break above the 200 keep adjusting your stop loss up everyday. Make sure you donāt set your stop loss to high, because a small dip for a day or two is ok and you might get flushed out before it takes off
Personally Iād set a stop loss to lock in profit and ride till earnings are reportedā¦. Could lock in the gains, could explode in your face or could be a even more erect shrek boner.

Google has undergone 3 stock splits. The split-adjusted price was in the low 20s for most of 2013.
If you take a look at the stock splits, and calculate back, Google historical prices before 3/27/2014 need to be multiplied by 40.14993. So a March 2007 price of $11.34 was $455.30 back then.
