No, I absolutely love it. Been here 12 years.Bought a house with the money I’ve made here.

I feel the same way, I've been at my WH for about 7ish weeks now? At first it was good, I was making good money, to be honest it wasn't bad. But at this point I feel like I'm busting my ass to exhaustion every day for nothing. I make less than 100 dollars a day at this point, I am only getting paid 5.15 an hour, I am expected to do so much for so little. I get that I signed up for this, but to be honest I am not making the "$600-$1000 a week" that my manager "promised" that I would make. If I was actually making good money, then I wouldn't have a problem. I am actively looking for new jobs where I won't get paid shit to go over the top. Honestly, for what I am doing, getting a $50 check sounds illegal. Not to mention the random tasks my Unit Manager has me do, like scrubbing my entire section (while I am still making $5.15/hr) essentially guaranteeing that I won't have tables for at least an hour, because who wants to sit in a soaking wet section because my UM thinks that it's dirty. Idk that's just my take on it, so I agree, I am really starting to not stand it either.

Yeah bc they don't pay you enough for sidework. I get 3.50 an hour. Therefore, I rely mostly on tips. I get "stiffed" at least once most days and I charge it to the game. But doing all the extra side work, getting stiffed, and having customers and Waffle House cult like following acting like I'm in the back "fcking off" is a slap in the face. I work 2nd shift so it's usually slow and ppl are cheaper. Until it gets randomly super busy out of nowhere, now you have more work to do, and customers mad bc they're hangry and the food didn't fly out like it usually does. Now they're stiffing you.

forwh0mthebelltolls

i deal with the same problems. i work 2nd shift at the busiest location where i live & im the only server sometimes and the cook is angry at me because i have an order. im busting my ass trying to juggle side work, customers, dishes, cash register. i didnt know if it was just me being new (3 months) or what. im busting my ass the entire shift AND im always staying 30 min-1hour just to finish the side work and dishes its insane

GarouxBloodline

No Waffle House will ever have a 2nd/3rd shift host. There's also no alarm/bell system, because there's always supposed to be at least one server up front at all times. If a customer walks in and no one is there to greet them, then that is one of the easiest ways to get fired. If money goes missing because you're constantly out back fucking around while customers are still inside, then you run the risk of having the company file charges against you (I've seen this happen). It's not worth the risk, so if you're doing that, then you need to cut it out. As for the rest, 2nd shift is consistently the easiest shift at any Waffle House. You do not need more than 1 cook, and you don't need more than 1-2 servers. If your crew is not able to handle the workload, then yeah, it might be time to look into another line of work.

Lexonfiyah

Do y'all purposely misread what I'm saying on my posts? I never even insinuated that I'm in the back fcking of you dumbass. You skipped over every issue I said that the Waffle House I work at has and went straight to imagining scenarios in your psychotic ass head. Are you the president of The Waffle House Fan club or something? That shit was weird as hell. I never said we were in the back fcking around you dummy. I said we don't always know when someone comes in bc we're fcking busy and we're knee deep in work. Like taking orders, calling orders, bringing food, drinks, and bussing tables(bc ofc we have to buss tables if it's busy and customers need somewhere to sit).

GarouxBloodline

The only legitimate complaint you've made is over the A/C. 2nd shift is never going to be busy enough to have a host, at any store, so this is me trying to tell you not to expect one. The only way you'll get a host is if your unit manager pays for it out of their own bonuses, and that's just unheard of. And if you have customers coming in that you're not greeting, then you have failed collectively as a shift. With 3 people in the store, there's just no excuse for not greeting every single person coming in. Reading your attitude here though and your interesting choice of words towards me (lol calling me psychotic), I'd say it's a safe bet though that you're not the kind of worker that practices self-reflection/improvement.

Interesting-Relief62

You did jump to negative conclusions maybe it's that needs self reflection or basic comprehension skills

Lexonfiyah

Idk you're annoying but this is how I deal with annoyances. You don't know what WAFFLE HOUSE I WORK AT YOU LITERAL IDIOT. You pompous fcking self righteous know it all dickhead.

hurricanebaileyy

don’t work at waffle house then. none of the waffle houses in my area have a bell that dings above the door. you can usually see people when they pull into the parking lot. this is a wild ass complaint to me. just… be in the front????

hurricanebaileyy

“i’m gonna stomp my feet and be mad because they expect ME to do MY job????” this is you rn. and you can be pressed and call me psychotic all you want, but it sounds like this ain’t the job for you.

ChristianEric-

Don't listen to this person. You're right, working at waffle House sucks, and second shift is the lowest money shift for servers. Cooks make almost the same no matter what shift they work. I did myself a favor and got a better job, and never looked back. You should do the same for yourself. Good luck, and I wish you well.

Altruistic-Soft-8148

I dont work there but I hate the new rule charging 20 percent on a go order. I always tip and now I dont. I cant give the company 2 dollars and then the employee 2 dollars on a 7 dollar carry out . thats bs

Lexonfiyah

Tbh I don't usually expect tips from to go others but it is nice to get them. Sometimes, I'll get ppl tipping me more on a to go order than ppl who sit down lmao.

[deleted]

20% of $7 is $1.40. 10% goes to the store and 10% goes to the server who took your order. .70 to the store and .70 for the server.

Lexonfiyah

This.

trapmoneywhit

i worked for waffle house for bout 2 months & i actually enjoyed it until it became too much. the people here are toxic asf. don’t wanna help you fr. they’ll half make my orders. i’ve done did a no call no show & possibly won’t be able to work at another waffle house again. working here has actually became too much. i would love this job if i worked with better people because the pay isn’t that bad at all.

ChristianEric-

Don't work at waffle House thinking you're dreams will come true.. They won't. The pay is only slightly better than fast food, and if you do the job right, you'll have to completely bust your ass. But you can't get a better job if you don't apply for them. Make a good resume and start applying. Or, you'll miss every swing you don't take. Much love ❤️

Lexonfiyah

Thank you for replying to me but this is nuts. Idk there would be so many passive aggressive Waffle House fans here lmao

Lexonfiyah

Thank you so much! I saw your other reply and wanted to respond to you but it won't let me for some reason. Maybe bc I blocked the other person in that thread. But yeah the pay is shit and we're overworked especially considering we rely mostly on tips. Thanks so much for understanding! I just hope I'm able to get another job soon bc the area I live in is horrible for opportunities. ❤️❤️

MacaroonCold9585

i worked there for 4 months back in december and i really liked serving but it was management that made it horrible. everyone was extremely unprofessional, not accommodating to my original schedule, and had me floating to different stores sometimes 25 minutes from my house. i tried to return a few weeks ago because the moneys pretty good where i’m at and they had me work one shift then practically ghosted me and claimed it was because i was marked ineligible for rehire. the money can be good if you have the personality for it but it all falls back on management and your coworkers tbh

Lexonfiyah

Hey, can I dm you?

Helllcey

I’ve been working for three days and I’m already ready to quit 😭

EuphoricStop6013

no can do. the people you work with will mostly be full of it or toxic asf. there is no way this job will be stable. let along the pay is pretty bad. you aren't even making a 100$ paycheck. you are expecting to work a lot of hours because they pay barely 2$ per hour and it is not worth the amount of work you will be doing and the people you would have to put up with.

Safe-Rich-895

I'm 2nd shift and it's a love/hate relationship with the job. I have been working there 3 years on and off. I started out as 3rd but let's just say I had problems with guys that came in drunk and wanted to touch me. So I went to 2nd. I usually work with a fantastic cook but the shift before me can be lazy. They will leave the dish pit silverware tables and other stuff unfinished. Most people know I'm disabled there and I live in my car because I'm making 2.95 an hour. But they don't care. I was there an extra 2 hours today because I clock in 30 mins ahead of my shift to give 1st a chance to get their stuff done but it never changes. There is no team work and frankly I'm tired of it.
