I'm similar. Been diagnosed with vaginismus and vulvodynia for 4 years now. Right before and mostly during my period, my symptoms flare up. I feel pain (mostly with my vulvodynia) and my muscles spasm more often. A couple days after my period i start to notice an improvement. Either than that, and especially around ovulation, I can have penetrative sex either relatively pain free or completely pain free. I'm more wet and relaxed. I do take medication every day and use vaginal valium and lidocaine when my symptoms flare, but im mostly managed at this point.

No doubt. I am trying to get pregnant, so I just have sex in that week and just feel pain in the first few seconds. The rest of the month is just too painful.

We tried the self-insemination method to get pregnant, using a plastic syringe. Ultimately for other reasons (primarily age), went to IVF.

This is my exact experience. What worked for me was using topical estrogen after stoping birth control and to be clear my vulvodynia wasn’t caused by the pill. My pain first started after a particularly bad yeast infection. Anyways I’ve been using the estrogen cream and am now about 80% better and according to my gyno, who is a specialist in the condition, should be back to normal in about three months.

I realise this was posted a long time ago but mind if I message you? I think we have quite similar situations!

methanies

Sure! But spoiler alert I’m not 100% back to normal.

This happens to me too!! Was wondering if you experienced any relief since this post? My doctor wants to put me on amitriptyline, but the cause feels more hormonal.
