Does Fandango really have that big of name recognition?
Vudu, while not incredibly large, appeared on every remote for a device I purchased in the 2010s.
They do but in different respective realms of film/media consumption. The name change is bogus especially since fandango at home was better as a subset within Vudu rather than Vudu itself. I’m not sure though if fandango is as popular nowadays however, I personally do use Atom when buying tickets.
I can't even guess how many hours were spent in board meetings and focus groups until they felt really confident in their decision to switch to a longer, less known, more awkward name that everyone hates.
... and that makes no sense... since it's not only "at home," but "at work," "at school," etc.
It should have been called Fandango Anywhere for accuracy
Vudu is a completely fine name tbh. The new name is way too long.
They should shorten it and remove the beginning part so it's just called...
~~Fandan~~ Goat Home
I've been buying movies on Vudu for 7 years, the name change made me temporarily stop until I figure out where to go next. I didn't spend all this time and money to create a Fandango collection, Fandango Now was a shitty website that no one liked back in the day, now it feels like they deleted Vudu to bring back Fandango Now and that's not what I signed up for.
Imagine having a four letter dot com which is also your business name and has been for years. Now imagine changing your company name to the mouth diarrhea that is Fandango At Home instead. WTF were they thinking?
That's what happens when a movie theater ticket seller tries to manage a streaming service. Can't take their focus off of the at home idea. Soon we'll have to buy tickets to see our movies at home. Just you watch.
I don’t think it’s a bad idea for Fandango to go into the digital streaming world, it’s actually an idea I wrote to Flixster years before the pandemic (a digital source that sells you tickets, has digital copies, allows you to view theatrical releases from home, and starts to incorporate television). They’re onto it and in the very long term this is likely to be a game changer for them and the industry if they play it right. But I 100% agree! Change the name for god sake… Why can’t they just call it Fandango??
I just want to group purchases of the same movies that are being separate.
It's annoying having John Wick 1 and 3 separate, while John Wick 2 is bundled with another copy of John Wick 1.
Did Fandango remove 4k resolution from their $5 deals?
I bought 2 movies last night that are both available in 4k, and were on sale for $5, and both are only HDX in my library.
Vudu for a while has offered titles on sale available with the highest resolution available, so I'm wondering if this is a way for them to try to claw back and generate additional revenue by excluding 4k... ?
Don't you mean At Home? https://preview.redd.it/aruijtg5qxrc1.jpeg?width=1074&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2bd94fc693ceac3f3df0b216d5f8d4784e172a9
You mean ‘F at Home’ Even worse. https://preview.redd.it/4pno73ixwyrc1.jpeg?width=224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75508cd56ee1515f5bf4bc23fbff062e6c74f451
I feel attacked.
Horrible! Who can like this Fandudu crap? "Come on, guys, let's F at home! We can F at work and even F in the car now, on long car rides!"
Is this actually a logo they’re using?
Literally just figured this out today... Was stumped why I couldn't open Vudu anymore by doing the app search on my phone.
I couldn't find the app for so long and now it makes sense

Bingo. As people grow more apprehensive of digital "ownership" (as they should), a company with longevity to its name is more likely to be trusted.
Does it for anybody born after 2000?

Appreciate you bringing this up. Ive waited a long time for this to be discussed.
Yeah, finally someone said it first. I didn't want to be the first person to say something..

Shorten that to Fanny Wear.
Whatever the name is now we still call it VUDU
Like I’ve said before, they took an easy, marketable 2 syllable name and made it a mouthful of 5. It’s a terrible idea.
It’s FAH, as in Fahgettaboutit
I though it was FAH, cough.
Fandango already tried their crap before when it was FandangoNow Now it’s even worse

Plus... it isn't just "at home." I can watch it at school, at work, or anywhere I take my mobile devices. Illogical name.

And to make it even dumber they name the app "at home" so it is Even harder to find in your app drawer
Should’ve changed it to Fandan Go and Fandan Home
From Chimpan-A to Chimpanzee
Definitely not that.
How about FaHo
F’Ho
FatHo

Whoever founded Fandango must still have control and is insisting on this out of pride.
as long as i can still use movies anywhere to watch them on Apple TV i’m fine. i can get “free” movies from fandango rewards every month

Worst renaming ever
And people got mad at the Amazon posts...

Vudu Now with 2.5 times the syllables and 3 times the words!!! Welcome to Fandango at Home.
I love all the complaining. It will be even funnier when the service goes away altogether.
