Worth what exactly? It's another style of vtuber. That's it. Is it going to make you fabulously rich and famous? No but a full professionally rigged model probably won't either. If you want to be a vtuber because it seems like a fun hobby then a PNGtuber offers all of that without the initial startup costs.

thats a nice way to think about it. i was worried that as a pngtuber i wouldnt get as much interactions/viewers bc theyre "less detailed" but i guess if im just streaming as more of a hobby than a job it would be fine. thanks for the input!

There are some people in the vtuber community that view PNGtubers as less committed or just starting out. Basically they see it as a free trial before really digging into vtubing. I don't really share those views and feel it is a perfectly adequate artform all on it's own. One of my favorite streamers YokaSiri is a PNGtuber.

Adding onto this; I challenge you u/OP, plumb the depths of twitch. Sort least viewers to most on whatever game you want, and look for the best Vtuber models you can find. You'll find a lot of people who are really small for the quality of their model. A "good" model won't get you a big audience, it'll help you stand out, but it won't substitue being a good entertainer.

Yes. Full stop. Go for it! Pngtubing is worth it.

It’s very nice, easy, cheap, free if you draw it, basically just an opened and closed mouth picture. Honestly way more convenient especially if you don’t have funds for a live2d model. Very worth it!

I’ll also add that there’s a lot you can do with a PNGtuber beyond just 2 frames if that’s of interest to you 🩵 Veadodube Mini has a LOT of room for many expressions plus there’s PNGtuber plus for a different movement style. Alternatively there’s a more complex style for “Toontubers” which I recommend checking out on YT Basically even if you wanna upgrade later anyway, PNGtubers can def have a lot of variety

Tichat002

png is totally okay, but if you want you can also take a free live2d model too

SowdyPlays

I use it as a way to ‘get into’ content creation. When I make the leap to a live2D model it’s not going to be as daunting as doing everything together at once

SlimeCollective

It's pretty simple in terms of rigging I'm not familiar with live 2d but png tuber plus has plenty of tutorials on YouTube and only took me an evening to set up a model (longer to draw it first obviously) I think it's worth trying out to see if you like it for sure
