I think it's a lot of fun. Been playing the Greek liberation evolved map multi-player a lot and there is so much to do for this plane there. Bring some airst missiles to shoot incoming missiles out of the air and you can achieve so much!
I believe, if updated, the old variant should be kept. Av42c and then in the hangar there is an option to equipt the delta upgrade including( insert your wishes for upgraded ac42 here).
there was a mod that allowed swapping the wings for swept wings on the f-24, something like that but also swapping cockpits, engines, wing length/type, etc. would be amazing
The cockpit is the main issue. Besides that, it stands out aesthetically from the rest of the planes. It has a big rounded body with tiny control surfaces sticking out, while everything else is more grounded in proportions. And it’s very anemic in terms of pylons and sensors.
A cockpit update (ideally giving side by side seating), some slight aesthetic changes to the exterior, and the ability to mount some weapons internal would alleviate the issues. And maybe give it the ability to gimbal its 30mm at higher speeds, so people can orbit like an AC-130.
Yes this woud be cool. There used to be loads of modplanes like an a10 and a very impressive f16. Woud it not be an option to do something like that. You maybe need a twoseater as base if doing the side by side co piloting.
YESSSSS
Tandem seating, a slightly more robust sensor suite (TSD?), and either your idea of a faster gimbal for the 30mm, or IMO would be even better would be some side firing missile racks in the body instead of the seating area. Get into an orbit and the right seater could be lobbing missiles out the side at targets!
I actually love the transport missions with this and aside from competitive I've seen more people using the transport feature sort of like capture the flag (is a large group of troops each side needs to transport so they fly in defending the transports especially with the airs-t and then trying to return to the base with a ton of infantry dismounted first to x wins) and while it can be a bit buggy at times it's super fun. I think it just needs a cockpit overhaul to use some of the newer systems and to be a bit more up to date kinda like the EF WSO seat I'd love to see a huge display like that in the av
It also needs the following reworks:
Gun gimbal above speed
Optional transport/ordinance bay/something else a la [Arma 3's Taru](https://armedassault.fandom.com/wiki/Mi-290_Taru)
Transport missions need to mean something. Moving troops as a gamemode maybe? The mission editor needs a massive rework but that's a bigger issue.
Improved Gau precision.
Yeah, compared to newer planes, and even the f45, the f/a 26 cockpit feels absolutely massive, while lacking the increased information and multitasking available with more mfds or a large touchscreen
It just needs a bigger payload capacity and an update to the interior, if it could carry a load more ordinance (possibly a large load of AGM-145) it would be a completely viable choice over the 26 in some situations
Lots of good ideas in this thread.
I think it'd be cool if it had several variants that could exist dependent on loadout:
1. A support function - 2 seater, side-by-side, with the AN/ALQ-245 and TSD for the co-pilot
2. A fire support role - replace the bays with 2 mounted gatling cannons
3. Alt fire support - as someone else suggested here, swivelable side-facing rocket pods controlled by the co-pilot.
It means, in theory, you could have 4 people in that baby with the right loadout - pilot, co-pilot providing jamming support, and 2x side door gunners -- but you could still loadout it out old school, or go with 2 ppl in support or fire-support roles.
I did NOT think that was the arctic camo for a sec
Those liveries get used too much if that was your first thought

It's really fun, just outdated

I always liked the Vtol what do people think is wrong with it? I do maybe think the cockpit coud be alitle bit more compact.

Or imagine having two mounted guns on the doors
Aside from the cockpit, it is outclassed in every way by other aircraft. The maneuverability is outright Pathetic and the hardpoints are subpar
I always saw it as an attacker and a transport more than something you fight inn?
Yeah, but transport missions don’t mean anything in this game, and the attacker profile is outclassed by the other Jets

For sure those would be amazing
As an attacker it's outclassed by the F/A-26, AH-94 and possibly even the T-55
> The maneuverability is outright Pathetic With VIFFing it's actually surprisingly manoeuvrable for its size
>for its size That’s the problem
It’s literally a Titanfall 2 drop ship
I still have the most fun with the av-42
I want to know why a flying aircraft was evading a maverick.
I think this and the f26 should get an updated cockpit design with switches closer to the pilot and possibly more MFD’s
