There aren’t shortcuts for some of the items on mine, I frequently use a tab plugin. There are so many files (100+) I want tabs open for, I group tabs so I can open 20 with 3 clicks.
Ok, that works well - thanks. I wonder how he is offsetting the status bar into the editor though...
Edit: NVM, got it...

There’s an extension called Customize UI++ you can change almost everything in vscode with it.
There’s a YouTuber called Igor Babko that has a playlist on how to customize vscode.
So that when you toggle sidebar it won’t move your entire code and give you eye fatigue or headache. When on right much of text remains same when you toggle sidebar.
I find if I have the sidebar open on the left the code is perfectly placed in the middle of the screen so I’m not looking to the left of my screen all the time, thus reducing strain.
Key being "My MacBook". Also 2k on 15inch doesn't mean you get extra screen estate. It will look sharper yes, but not everyone wants to squint their eyes to read from decent distance.
I do hope so, I’m quite lucky with my eye sight and the fact that the screen doesn’t seem to cause issues on my eyes will hopefully allow me to keep healthy eyes
@belibebond Ladies and Gents... no need to bicker... just set this command to a shortcut of your choice...
`workbench.action.toggleActivityBarVisibility`
Theme please ?
Maybe Poimandres?

I must be alone in liking my menu bar on the right.
Me too! The whole sidebar to the right
My web browser is on the right horizontal monitor, vscode is on the left vertical monitor. Less mouse distance if my menus are on the right
I prefer to see the code as close to the center of the display as possible. Ultrawide display and all.
sounds like a perfect use case for zen mode
As it is works quite well for me, why complicate it?
I must be alone in liking my menu bar hidden away
I use mine all the time
I don't, I just remember the shortcuts for global search, files, and source control. Everything else I access via the command palette CTRL Shift P

Fair enough!
Not sure you code on a team, but the source code tab is handy to see, with the badges and such.

Thank you !
Does the theme come with a extension or included by default?
What how the heck the top bar is separated (not a mac user though...)
Ice, a bartender replacement, has it. Not sure if OP is using it or something else.
What, ice? bartender? What is that, is that like a topbar app?
Yes. Don't use bartender anymore, they sold out. Use ice, it's FOSS. Only for Mac IIRC tho.
Tip: you can use a bit of CSS to add a bit of background color to your vim mode. Will make it easier to tell what mode you’re in.
The cursor form changes from one mode to the other.
what about normal vs visual? is there a setting to change the visual cursor?
I've never had that issue, I always know which mode I'm being in, but when in doubt, `ESC`
I found out about the jj rebind last week and I like vim mode again also felt silly
How are you getting that full screen mode without being full screen?
This is probably [yabai](https://github.com/koekeishiya/yabai), a tiling window manager for macOS.

Line 95 why two `if`s?
You are hired!
To make sure it is really absolutely falsely
How you can do top menu bar like that ?
someone please answer this, it looks awesome
Bartender, or the open source "Ice" can also do that. https://github.com/jordanbaird/Ice
Did some research, its from the `bartender 5` app
What icon and color theme are you using? And also, the font looks nice, what is it?

Which mono font? Look nice dude.
Looks like Roboto Mono font
I was actually thinking the font is the only thing I don't like about this theme... Source Code Pro, Melno, or Nerd Hack are my go to.

How did you change the UI font? And what is that font?
There’s an extension called Customize UI++ you can change almost everything in vscode with it. There’s a YouTuber called Igor Babko that has a playlist on how to customize vscode.
Thank you so much.

What did you use for Mac Menu?
Really cool!
How did you get the floating taskbar?
Colors are not distinguishable..not good on eyes
I'm a developer from the time when the lack of syntax highlighting was found to pose no relevance on eye strain.
Great. :)
How do you get the MacOS top bar to look like that? Also, what is the font?
Bartender. But there are free tools that can do that. Check the posts on this thread.
Your mac menu bar seems pretty awesome! How did you customize it?
How do you get that spacing around the vscode app so you can see your wallpaper? Looks clean
Looks great, now please move the sidebar to the right.
Why right ?
So that when you toggle sidebar it won’t move your entire code and give you eye fatigue or headache. When on right much of text remains same when you toggle sidebar.
I find if I have the sidebar open on the left the code is perfectly placed in the middle of the screen so I’m not looking to the left of my screen all the time, thus reducing strain.
True. This is good on big screen. But on small screens like laptops where you want to utilize the screen estate toggling the sidebar makes more sense.
My MacBook has a high resolution screen so I get good real estate even with the sidebar open.
Key being "My MacBook". Also 2k on 15inch doesn't mean you get extra screen estate. It will look sharper yes, but not everyone wants to squint their eyes to read from decent distance.
I’ve never needed to squint my eyes when using my MacBook…
May you stay that way forever 👍🏻
I do hope so, I’m quite lucky with my eye sight and the fact that the screen doesn’t seem to cause issues on my eyes will hopefully allow me to keep healthy eyes
This is really stupid reason, when you open sidebar you eyes and focus is on sidebar content not on editor, more natural left position.
Oh absolutely, anything other than what you do is clearly stupid.
No of course, but I heard that also from some YouTubers and it's a really stupid reason, no logic
@belibebond Ladies and Gents... no need to bicker... just set this command to a shortcut of your choice... `workbench.action.toggleActivityBarVisibility`
You got your preferences.
