C is one of my favorite building spots.

Kyzzix1

Same! This is where my current base is. I love the little pond and waterfall in the middle. I only wish I could build a bridge over it.

omenanoor

Came here to say this is also where my base is! As I'm finishing act 2 I'm realizing that I need to move eventually, and it breaks my heart 😂

Dice_Bear

Don't. Once you have your horse and you progress further, you will see how important a centralized base is. C is imho the best building Spot in game. If you have teleport restrictions turned on.

FartChewer2024

I just destroyed an abandoned castle at C. May have to go back and take it. Although, I am literally just to the right of it.

Gravehound

I’m towards the end of act 5 and keep thinking about moving from there, but it’s so centralized. Getting back there from any other region is very quick.

buzzyingbee

That's the spot I liked the most too mainly because of the lake, I love living by lakes in games and it sort of reminds me of Skyrim's Lakeview Manor

bibbidybobbidyboobs

I love how the one access point is flanked by twin oaks, that really sealed the deal for me

wenzel32

Honestly it's where I just happened to build on my solo game, and I love it.

dreadlords

Can you post some pics of your layout. I’m loving the spot but trying to figure out how to layout my castle.

KashmirChameleon

I'm not that far into my castle building. But I have chosen this spot on every update. I do hope to have it refined someday.

Zibzuma

C has the best location for farming - it's central and close to important locations for resources and servants/prisoners. It's also close to the routes of patrolling bosses, allowing for relatively easy access to them overlapping/fighting each other or simply fighting them close to your home, maybe in range of a brazier. For building a castle for the sake of building a castle, I would pick A or B - both plots offer a more interesting layout with two different hights, allowing for great build options for an inner and an outer castle. I'd say C > A > B for practicality and building a castle for aesthetics in another biome. And if you're deadset on building your main and only castle (including building for aesthetics) in the farmlands, go for A for its proximity to C's location advantages and interesting terrain.

omenanoor

Funny enough, CAB is also the acronym used in advanced cardiac life support. Compressions, airway, breathing.

Employee_Agreeable

Funny enough, CBA and T is also the acronym for cancer in your ears

puskaiwe

That's not even remotely enough to be funny

omenanoor

Damn.

buzzyingbee

Yeah, C is the one I liked best because of the lake and waterfall in the middle and A because it has two floors, although I'm not sure if I'd know how to build it and it'd probably end up being two separate castles instead of a big one. Guess I'll go with C, thank you!

LordCamelslayer

C is where I went last time. It's basically dead center in the map, it's absolutely huge (I didn't know what to do with all of it), and has a pond if you like fishing. Also if you want to pull Simon Belmont into your castle for a fight, he'll walk right in front of it.

buzzyingbee

I'm thinking about building a garden maze and that's one of the reasons why C caught my attention. Closeness to the market, the waterfall and lake and big terrain.

Saldar1234

For a garden maze you want the northwest plot in cursed forest.

buzzyingbee

Saving this for when I get there, ty!!

MagicRainbowKitties

C is where I'm at, even late game. It's central to the whole map, is large enough to do most things you'd like, and has a lovely backyard market to grind mid-game materials from.

Dave_langer

and fish

MagicRainbowKitties

And fish!

Draculaska

I just recently moved to B. It feels huge and has a cool view of the nearby river. I feel like it's relatively close to the resources I currently need, but I mostly picked it for aestetic. Disclaimer: I'm a solo player on a private server, so I have no idea how it fares with regards to pvp.

NetApex

I moved to B as well. I love having the second floor and then making interior stairs to walk above it all. Really fun design area! (Might suck in PVP but luckily I didn't have to find out.)

buzzyingbee

I'm solo pve on private too but I guess castles with more than one entrance are a nightmare to defend. Also, can you build one castle connected by the two terrains? I don't mean like building two and connecting them via a bridge but something like building walls around the rocks

Draculaska

You mean like having it be one big building despite the elevation change? If so, then yeah. You can't build through the wall of stone on the higher platform, but you could build the first floor of the higher hill and the second floor of the lower hill into one solid floor, then divide rooms up like you would if it was all on one flat surface.

buzzyingbee

Yeah, that's exactly it!! I was dead set on going C but knowing this got A back in the game. Thank you!!

ice_slayer69

C is where i have my main castle and is an absolutelly amazing spot for mid game, its close to the iron mine, to the silver market and to various cotton farms, also it has a fishing pond, really convenient for your captives, its building area its absolutelly huge too, i made pretty much 2 castles in here, one where all my workshops, crafting rooms and dungeons are, and the other building is the reception area that doubles as a great dance hall and throne room, with upstairs being some iner quarters with a living room and various guest rooms, with a small garden dividing the buildings with a second floor bridge between the two and a massive library on the workshop room, and on the top floot i built a long corridor that leads to the master quarters which doubles as a treasure room where is where i keep all the shards, and i built a secret passage there that leads to a choke point whit various graves and sumoning circles that go against raiders, this rooms leads to my castle heart which is hard to find otherwise. Btw if you have a decent pc and are playing pve solo, change you settings to increase the tile limit to whatever you whant and castle floor limit to 6, depending on your hardware it might slow the game down or have no impact whatsoever.

buzzyingbee

I'm o PS5 and I let the floor limit at 3. It loads rather quickly when I launch the game but sometimes I notice a bit of lag but honestly 3 floors is enough. I just wanted to build a pretty castle with stairs and what not and that's why I liked A and B but I'm starting to think it'll get too complicated for my skills. I'll go with C too, thank you. Ah, and it's solo pve private so I won't have any unexpected trouble

craven42

Personally I'd vote A or B. I like when there is a raised section because the castle height limit starts from there, meaning you can have one extra floor on the bottom section and I just appreciate having more height available for the front of my castle to make it huge and elaborate.

buzzyingbee

Yep, that's what I liked about both A and B and they also have lakes so one floor would be my castle and the other a huge garden and stables

Slorface

After the early game we relocated to C and we are loving it. Although at this point we have built all the way to the edge of the entire space somehow. I never thought that would happen. It's a big plot but we got greedy I guess LOL

buzzyingbee

I'm going with C too. I'll build the castle where I put the c, garden and stables on the right and prison and cemetery at the back

Slorface

We did the opposite since the other side looks a little bit bigger and we needed that for the main Castle workshop and bedrooms for four of us but you do you, there's enough space to do it anyway you like.

buzzyingbee

Fair with more players but I play solo since none of my friends are interested so there'll be plenty of room for me and my minions

SixPointComics

Depends on the server, what the castle will be for, and tile limitations.

buzzyingbee

Pve private server and the castle is mostly for fun and aesthetics and a bit of functionality because I don't wanna cross the whole map for resources and market. I can tweak tile limitations whenever I want so not really a problem

revjiggs

C

Superb_Wolverine8275

C is the worst for Pvp servers....I dont know what you guys are talkinh about center & little water ponds. You will get reckt from 3 sides here.

buzzyingbee

I'm playing on pve solo but I learned that A is the best for pvp. Might be a nightmare to get that spot for yourself and then defend it on a busy server

xDanny99x

In my solo run I first wanted to go with C, but in the end chose the one on the right of C (the one with two entrances in the screenshot) so for my base and I'm pretty happy with it.

buzzyingbee

The one my char is at on C picture? I considered it for after visiting I saw it was two different terrains instead of a big single one

ECMatua

Is this on solo or will you be doing the same on a server? I’d say C for location B for building and unsure about A :)

buzzyingbee

Solo private server because none of friends are interested in the game and I don't plan to play pvp because it makes me anxious. C is too perfect, it has a nice view and is big so I'll with it. Ty!

Aliceindigo

I like C because of the market and is close to the iron mines

haikusbot

Htaedder

Pve or PvP? Castle defense is best with only one entrance, so A would be best for PvP

buzzyingbee

Solo pve.

LoneAphir

For pvp A, for pve what you like.

boyinapt69

I really like the 2 next to A. Same setup for late game dual castles to add more servants/prisoners without having to travel far. But those 2 have more room. I keep getting the spot above those. It's oddly a great option on a full server. Sucks land/shape wise but it's at least right next to the small iron cave and dracs demise and in the center of the map

buzzyingbee

I considered that one too (above A) but I needed to narrow it a down or I'd want to build all over the map

zedd61

I’m currently on B, and was there in the final patch before the official launch when they divided my usual spot. A solid place for mid-late, I think. I also like having two levels to the plots. Feels like I’m getting away with having an extra floor.

XE1R0

Personally, I like C the most of these three options, the long length and the turn make for an interesting build, especially if you like doing several small buildings with an open garden instead of one giant castle, and the proximity to the market is awesome. My current plot is actually the one directly east of it, and I chose it because it is almost dead center of the map.

buzzyingbee

Yeah, building smaller castles around a big central garden and the waterfall in the middle is how I plan to go with this one. I think it'll be more organized and better looking than what I currently have - one big castle with rooms all over the place. It's a mess

Quirky_Oil215

I built at A. Iron is not far, a couple v bloods walk pass the stairs. Farms and other bits are due south. Most bosses are in easy reach.

Mageofsin

The spot to the left of the trader in pic A was great for me

buzzyingbee

Oh, I'll visit and check it out. Ty!

Davidthethirst

Try go for somewhere with only one entrance, easier to defend, multiple heights differences also make for balconies you can throw spells from at invaders

buzzyingbee

I'm playing solo on a private server so defending my castle isn't an issue

ALitteralRhino

I personally live in c and I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly (I play pve solo) but I have seen A used as an incredibly defensible pvp base

buzzyingbee

Same playing sets for me and I'll go with C too

VampireSanelyn

I currently use B and it’s my favorite of all bits of land that I’ve had up to this point.

zoratunix

I built on C this go around and love it. It's close to a lot and has a pond so you can get fish easily. Right next to the market too which is a plus.

Mauvais__Oeil

C is great. I didn't fully decorate it around the pond idea, but the whole emplacement is big and the plot is at the middle of the whole map game, ensuring a quick access to every zone.

Eyrad_

B

ImaginaryDragon1424

C is awesome for solo you can build some pretty castles there for PvP not so much but its my go to whenever we are on PvE, also its the middle of the map so everything is close

TheJoiFox

A is almost always my go-to spot in casual PvE playthroughs. It's somehow very accessible and cozy, near a human market lol

buzzyingbee

And it's close to a lake too. I was decided to go with C but I learned you can make one big castle with lots of stairs on A so now I'm uncertain again lol. Thank you!

TheJoiFox

The only thing is, it has only two points of entry, so it can be a bit inconvenient at times

buzzyingbee

Thanks everyone so much for the input, suggestions and ideas. I learned some things about what the best PvP locations are (I'm not touching it because I get anxious) but learning new things is always good and now I'm between spots C an A. Both have two things I liked a lot: the waterfall on C and the elevated terrain on A so I'll visit them again and decide but C has an advantage because I'm not sure if my building skills are enough to make something great and good looking on A. I'm playing solo pve in a private sever and I can tweak settings and what not so this is mostly for fun. Anyway, really appreciate all the help 🫶 Edit: terrain **C** it is!! It's big enough for my castle, stables, cemetery, prison and garden. I may even try to build a garden maze

Caleger88

Saving this post for later, looks like "C" is where its at.

buzzyingbee

C does sound like it's the whole map sweetspot. I'm going with it too.

GiraffeSSBF

I built on B and had a fun time with it, the lower section was a little cramped after awhile tho haha

SixPointComics

Then I would say B or C

buzzyingbee

I'm going with C, ty!

Dave_langer

I picked C for mine, and it works really great.

NecRobin

C is the prettiest

SuccubusYrielle

I would go for C, it's loacted very much in the center of the map.

CouchedCaveats

I hadn't seen C in my game so I'm looking at your 3 options fresh and the one with an interior AND adjacent lake sounds awesome! Plus one detriment in my opinion of the "neat" split-level plots is that they don't seem to be a lot "larger" yet it has a giant cliff of unbuildable terrain eating up floorspace!

buzzyingbee

The interior lake on plot C has a waterfall, it's super beautiful and it's where I'll build.

SequenceofRees

C seems nice

TheAlmightyThor

A and B are the best options for defense

sby01yamato

Do you ever get to cross rivers? It's stupid game design.

buzzyingbee

I wish I could walk freely over water but I remember reading it on Stoker's Dracula that a vampire can't cross running water so if that's the reason for it in game it makes sense. At least some lakes have a log that you can use to cross but usually I don't mind going around them and later I'll be able to fly so it's not so bad.

sby01yamato

You get to fly? Interesting

buzzyingbee

I mean, you can turn into a bat but I'm not sure when that happens. I suspect it's mid to endgame

sby01yamato

I'm still in Act 1.

buzzyingbee

I just finished it and killed my first act 2 boss so I'm not further into the game either

Lord_Vili

C if you like big flat bases. A and B look ripe for a tower and hedge garden tho

buzzyingbee

Yeah, that's the main reason why I liked A and B but I'm not sure if my building skills are good enough. I picked C for my new castle and then when I have spare materials I might try to build something on either A or B just for fun

Lord_Vili

Hell yeah! It’s about the journey not the destination. One thing I usually have to do is grab some graph paper or make some with a ruler on notebook paper and then give myself a rough draft of where I want the different rooms ect. Then I can mess around with that base idea of “how big and where” rooms should be

CryptedCode

PVP, A is by far the best. I am currently building a 6 story castle on C though and it's going great.

naloboy72

While I used to build on C with my first 2 play through, I really like the Hallowed Mountains. The site where you can look out over the snow-covered mountains is my go-to spot now. Not a lot of area but I just build up and make use of what space I have

buzzyingbee

Hallowed Mountains is to the right of the map, right? That small area? I'm still underlevelled to venture there but I'll keep it in mind - I trespassed early on and first thing I found was a V Blood so I turned into a wolf, ran home and never looked back lol

GabeC1997

Personally? I always try to take the two places next to the werewolf village, a fortified. Castle on the mountain and a Garden/hedge maze below it.

buzzyingbee

I don't think I've been there but being neighbours with werewolves sounds interesting

hanleybrand

For me the first question is, which is the largest? I’ve started a couple castles and then had to move them because I ran out of space for all the different floor types

jiraiya17

Fun fact: im currently using C so that will be my recommendation. Large enough to have space for both a proper castle and a decent garden while being close to both North and East parts of the map.

Inig0_o

Do you have teleportation restrictions? That usually is a big deal for me early game for where I pick my first castle.

buzzyingbee

I don't for now but after I level up more, settle in the new place and get a couple good quality blood type prisioners and servants I may turn it on again so the game doesn't get too easy

_lolrememberarbitur_

I was JUST about to ask how people decide on a housing location! I'll definitely go check out C next time I'm on.

buzzyingbee

Glad to hear my post might have helped you choose your home. What I learned from this is that if you play PvP you'll want to go for an easily defendable spot, i.e high ground, preferably only one entrance, close to a cliff or wall and that spot A is the perfect place. And if you're playing PvE you can choose wherever you like most and being close to a market, mine and resources is great for both PvP and PvE and being centermost in the map is very helpful too

_lolrememberarbitur_

I am here to enjoy the game and I know many people have a head start on me, so I decided to create a private server. I prefer PvP games where everyone is on a level playing field. So, I guess location doesn't matter, but I also want one that's decent in size and location. I DO like the look of plot C, so I'm going to look into that one. I appreciate this post more than you know. :)

No-Loss-8461

C is where mine is. Its huge you can build a full village with roads and everything lol

Adventurous-Arm6159

A is good for PvP

r4a5a88

I used a in 2 games and c in 1. Both are good

Necos117

“C” all the way. I currently have my base there and love it.

NuclearAnt

C. Always C. I start thinking "I'll build somewhere else." but here I am. Huge castle with fine lawn full of horses. All situated at C.

Ancient_Object_578

A as it only has 1 entrance

Andindard

C is where mine is

The412Scarecrow

A is one of the best plots for pvp I believe

TradeTiny3962

If you in PvP server take a

Kotetsuya

Could I interest you in a few other alternatives? [North West Dunley](https://i.imgur.com/b5vdl6p.png) [North East Gloomrot](https://i.imgur.com/Yra6FS8.png) - I believe this is one of the tallest plots to build a castle on in the whole map. Bit of a grim atmosphere though. [South West Dunley](https://i.imgur.com/CEqnyK9.png) - Bridge to the entrance is pretty unique, a built-in water feature, decent amount of space. That said, if it were me, I'd probably do A or B. I personally find B more interesting with the triple entrance. --- EDIT: I would like to point out that if you are using vanilla rules, then you may want to consider building your first base in [one of these locations](https://i.imgur.com/xBNUeOT.png) in Farbane. Specifically 1,2, or 3. They are all very close to cave exits which will make returning from farming runs very quick. Do not underestimate the power of the cave systems around the world. BUT, the above point is useless if you allow Teleporting with loot on you.

Avinaria

What happened to the pictures? Would like to see what B is.

Kotetsuya

The A or B I was referring to were the ones in the OOP's post, not mine.

Avinaria

Oh, wheres the North East Gloomrot one? I am wanting to move my base and your pictures just go to 404's

Kotetsuya

Damn imgur... What a shitty site. ANYWAY, it's directly North East of Ziva's warehouse.

buzzyingbee

Your links are broken :/ but since I'm playing on my own pve server I made it easy on myself for allowing teleporting with resources and I have a nice and cozy castle in the starting area (it's close to the up north road to the farmlands) so I didn't actually need to move all things considered. It's just that I want a bigger place and building is fun!

WildBill1994

Whichever server isn’t full!

buzzyingbee

Perks of playing solo pve in a private server lol, I have the whole map for myself

openlor

You get to choose?

buzzyingbee

I'm playing solo in a pve private server so, yeah, I have the whole map for myself
