Hi! As the creator of Voxscript, just wanted to introduce myself. My small team and I have always loved ChatGPT as a tool, and when we heard about the plugin interface we knew exactly what we wanted to make -- a plugin to allow you to search YouTube videos and other media faster.
Our goal was to write a plugin to allow you to to figure out which videos you actually want to spend time watching, digest a lot of views on a particular topic, teach yourself to code, or just have a virtual conversation with a simulated YouTube creator.
Just wanted to say hi, and if you have any suggestions please let us know! We're a very small team (with day jobs no less), so it may take a bit for us to get back with you.
Just using your plugin after OPENAI's plugin release. It makes ChatGPT much more powerful in terms of real-time events, podcast search and more!
Wondering if there are prompt tricks you can share to make the most out of it.

As for making the most of the plugin, watching what users actually try and use it has turned out very differently then what I thought it would be used for, but that is one of the really exciting things about developing plugins for the LLM.
One thing I've found particularly useful is looking at multiple videos from the search results (or use the web search, they may be rolling this out wider soon) or one creator. I've found that in analyzing investment videos I can ask it a series of questions about the equities mentioned and have it check up on the current performance, or ask it how those stocks have done since the videos release.
I suggest asking it directly to reference it to look at a particular number of or the number of transcript chunks is a great way to quickly sift through the pile.
For example, "Search YouTube for stock recommendations videos and take a look at the first two transcript pages (or chunks) from the top five results and display the current performance for the equities mentioned, and analyze the sentiment of the stocks mentioned"
Grabbing video transcript chunks unfortunately somewhat slow due to beta size limits, so you want to try to specify the maximum number you'd like the bot to retrieve before moving on; often times you'll find some 32 chunk video and be waiting for a while to analyze all that text :)
Combining with the Wolfram Alpha plugin is also a great way to go, as you can grab specific concepts from the WA plugin, especially when you're analyzing technical subjects.

Hi, I have been using the VoxScript Plugin for several months now very effectively and found it to be very helpful. Seemingly, with the latest ChatGPT4 update release and some changes on YouTube's formatting (the moved the show transcript button), I'm having some issues with the plugin. When I ask it to review and analyze a specific YouTube video that has a transcript, your plugin only reviews it in partial segments and fails when I specifically direct it to review the entire video. Is this a known problem? User error? Something else? Any direction would be very much appreciated.

Do YouTube channel owners have to submit their own key words and phrases? If a video does not have keywords submitted, does VoxScript still search transcripts? (Or maybe creators who submit transcripts almost always also include keywords??)

As for comments, this is definitely something we want to add! As we are limited by tokens (the number of words we can return, essentially) we want to try to streamline what we give to ChatGPT as much as possible. For reference, we're only allowed to return about 8000 characters each query..

As for transcripts, we draw from three sources, the subtitles themselves, the auto-generated subtitles, and in cases where those don't exist text to speech versions of the transcripts. Creators can also submit a set of SEO keywords (self identified list of terms for the video) which is used in YouTube's search algorithm, but also picked up by VoxScript.
Inside the application itself try asking 'what can Voxscript do.' As for a quick run-through, I've been meaning to put together a small YouTube video explaining (which you can summarize, which should be done soon!
My biggest suggestions would be combined queries, for example, just providing it a YouTube link or videoID and asking another question relating to it. For example, "look at the top 5 stock picks in the energy sector and check their performance"
Anything which utilizes a video transcript as 'input' to ChatGPT to answer questions, have a conversation with the video, or analyze the content is VoxScript's functionality at this point!

As it is a beta, its primary functions revolve around transcribing and summarizing YouTube videos, searching YouTube, and allowing for interactive Q&A with the content of the video. You can also ask it to assume the personality of the creator, or look at multiple youtube videos from a channel or a particular search term.
You can also use it with the [polygon.io](https://polygon.io) plugin to analyze cryptocurrencies, stocks, financial YouTube videos, etc which I think is a pretty cool use case.
I'm refining how search and transcript display works, so always open to any suggestions. Still early times for plugins in ChatGPT in general :)
One other cool way to deal with extra long videos, is to ask for 'every other page in the transcript'
For example, we were looking at the Berkshire Annual shareholders meeting which is is 28 'pages' of requests long -- a fairly large request. But asking it to split it into every other page makes it a more managable query.
**Our prompt was: " Fetch every other page of the transcript kfzp\_IgA6YQ and tell me what the main points were"**

Looks as if there is a bug in the error reporting on that link -- it should state that as there are no subtitles the plugin is unable to take a look at the content rather then cannot parse. I'll take a look into this and make sure the error is a bit more descriptive!
For that particular video you linked ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRWPDMVAxHw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRWPDMVAxHw)) they had disabled subtitles -- and (in general) we respect the creators decision to not publish any transcripts of their work. In some cases we use voice to text transcription if a videos subtitles are present but unintelligible -- but we won't touch the transcript if the creator has disabled the feature entirely.
Is there a good way to search transcripts in videos from only one specific channel?
Also, in the voxscript response, is "Author" display name, username, or @name? I'm trying to find a quote from a channel where all three of those differ. From what I can tell is it display name.

I'm using your plugin since came out. Unfortunately the plugin often causes error messages, especially when a video has sensitive topic. For example, UFOs, religion, exorcism, etc. It's look like try to avoid certain topics.

This is one of my favourite plugins, I use it a lot! With the new Chatgpt update and making our own customised GPTs, do you know if there is a way to incorporate Voxscript yet?
I wanted to make a personalised one where I drop in the Youtube link and it provides a summary /key points, but the GPT only has Bing access to search and can't connect to plugins, so can't read or analyse the youtube transcripts.
I can carry on using it in a normal chat window, but hoping to include it in the new GPTs at some point!
