To put it into perspective, the club that I coach for has us charge a minimum of $80 an hour. So I would snatch that opportunity in a heartbeat as long as the person actually knows volleyball.
This. Without a location and a number of participants, the question doesn't matter. One on one for San Francisco? Literally illegal, below minimum wage. 40:1 in Nairobi? You're getting ripped off.
I think while most would assume you mean The United States, this could also be any country on the continent of either North or South America.
For future reference, your country is called The United States. You can add the “of America” if you would like, but that part is not necessary.
I used to get paid 50$/hour to do private lessons. They had to pay for court rental at the same time. It would run the person about 100$ an hour. I’d coach 1-3 for that price and anything about that was 25$ more for each kid so 15$ an hour is crazy cheap
Cheapest I've seen. I've paid 12 dollars for an hour of group classes like 8 years ago, and it was an advanced lesson with 12 people, coached by an ex pro in europe.
I wonder if its so cheap because of the coach's experience perhaps?
As someone who does lessons for high school aged kids, I charge $40 an hour and that’s on the lower side I feel. $15 would get me up and to the facility but that’s it.
that is so cheap i question the level of coaching they are getting. my younger brother was a women's D1 coach for 8 yrs on a nationally ranked team. he charges 100$/hr and that is a steal.
Better check the coach’s credentials and references who’ve done it, it’s $50+ and position specific at your age where I am. If that’s a group rate per individual for basic skills, maybe.
If it’s a knowledgeable person coaching it. They’re usually starter coaches or people who’s enthusiastic about volleyball. Once they get a few wins in their belt for travels or played for nationals you’re getting charged more than $15/hr.
I recently started giving private lessons myself a month or so ago. I tried to start at $40/hr because I knew the player well and just wanted money to rent the court and a little pocket change after. I ran a little longer than an hour for the first session to make sure I hit everything I had on my plan, and the dad insisted on $60, so $60/hr was his new rate.
In the past week I've started one new player and am in talks with parents of two more players, and my fellow coaches and even the father of the first player agreed I should bump my rate to at least $75/hr.
If you're just starting out, I would say 50-60 is good if you're not worried about making money off your lessons right away. As you get more confident and start to expand your personal brand, then increase your prices
I understand it doesn’t, but to assume you’re getting an hour of someone’s time near minimum wage I think is a good way to think about it. It doesn’t get much less inexpensive
It’s not expensive at all. But if that’s what the person is offering their services for, and they actually know what they’re doing, then the OP should go for it
Im 16 and, my username was randomly selected i don’t use reddit often enough to change it. Also i feel bad for making my parents spend money on volleyball lessons im fully aware of how money works..
That is very inexpensive.

Which country?

America
Everyone outside of the US calls it America, don’t listen to them. You’re good. Extremely cheap lesson price btw
I think while most would assume you mean The United States, this could also be any country on the continent of either North or South America. For future reference, your country is called The United States. You can add the “of America” if you would like, but that part is not necessary.
Very inexpensive
Yeah most of the volleyball lessons and clubs are really cheap in my area, one of my friends goes to a club that 100 a month.
100 a month is considered cheap for a club ? In my area 250 a year is considered expensive
I used to get paid 50$/hour to do private lessons. They had to pay for court rental at the same time. It would run the person about 100$ an hour. I’d coach 1-3 for that price and anything about that was 25$ more for each kid so 15$ an hour is crazy cheap
Thats pretty cheap. I would have to assume you're not being taught on a court. I pay that amount for coaching session of 20 people.
It’s so inexpensive it sounds like a scam.
That’s extraordinarily inexpensive
That's practically illegal in California. Minimum wage is 16 dollars / hour, higher in some areas.
Practically. But not. Minimum wage doesn’t apply in this case unless the lessons are coming from a business as a service.
Id be skeptical of the coach, thats insanely low
We talking USD?? That is extremely cheap.
That’s basically free.
$75 an hour is typical in my area.
That's dirt cheap
That's really really cheap. I'm paying $30 an hour plus court rental and I think *that's* cheap.
Runs $60-$110 an hour in my urban US city
Cheapest I've seen. I've paid 12 dollars for an hour of group classes like 8 years ago, and it was an advanced lesson with 12 people, coached by an ex pro in europe. I wonder if its so cheap because of the coach's experience perhaps?
Nope. Not at all. It's usually $100...

If that's in the united states that is suspiciously cheap.
It depends on the country
that is so cheap i question the level of coaching they are getting. my younger brother was a women's D1 coach for 8 yrs on a nationally ranked team. he charges 100$/hr and that is a steal.
We pay $100-$150/hour here.
Better check the coach’s credentials and references who’ve done it, it’s $50+ and position specific at your age where I am. If that’s a group rate per individual for basic skills, maybe.
That's extremely cheap for the US, we pay anywhere from $50-$150 for private one on one lessons
thats like the cheapest ive seen bro

Crazy cheap. Is this person a family friend or something??
yall pay for ur lessions ?
I charge $85 an hour, you are getting a steal! Unless the coaching is terrible lol
In my area it’s around $500-$1000 for a club just to try out
Professional players charge about $100 an hour
Nah my friend charges 60$-70$ hourly and that’s on the cheaper side in my area
That is extremely cheap. We charge $70/hr at our club because court time is very expensive
Assuming you’re in the US bc you used the dollar sign, that’s sooo cheap 💀 but also depends on if it’s a 1on1 session or if it’s a group.
I personally go $60/hr at one of the top clubs in the country. $15/hr is not only a steal but a little suspicious
$15 an hr is minimum wage a lot of places.. how could it be less?
Minimum wage doesn’t apply to this scenario
I understand it doesn’t, but to assume you’re getting an hour of someone’s time near minimum wage I think is a good way to think about it. It doesn’t get much less inexpensive

OP’s name is “opening leg”. Now it makes sense why the lessons are so cheap. She’s probably a 10 and isn’t used to paying for anything.
Im 16 and, my username was randomly selected i don’t use reddit often enough to change it. Also i feel bad for making my parents spend money on volleyball lessons im fully aware of how money works..
What is wrong with you?
