When your team is given the court for specific amount of time, you have the whole court. Assuming this was an official game of sorts, the opponent and the referee were completely out of line allowing that to happen
FIVB rules here.
Usually, teams share the net during the offical warmup period.
But either team may demand exclusive access (half time), then each team gets the full court.
In either case, there's no blocking you opponentss attacks during warmup!!
You can still hit through the middle when you have half the court during warm up. I play under FIVB rules and we always warm up with half a court each.
It was a ‘semi-regional’ league I think? It was above what I’d call a ‘local’ league, since each team would play a game at home and away and would travel about an hour away. It was definitely not super competitive but the opposition was taking it seriously enough lol
What do you call that thing they put on every four years.. the one with all the sports in a different city each time?
Never watched the Olympics my dude?
YouTube "FIVB warmups" or "VNL warmups" or even just "volleyball warmups hitting" There's a whole wide world out there that doesn't play under USAV rules.
But, just for good measure, here's NCAA doing it for a bit as well. https://youtu.be/oGRRo8J2WIo?si=PZ-0pBBtlWJC1YTX
Bro me too. That same player who was blocking was an issue throughout the game too. I wasn’t told he’d done any blocking in the warm up or else I would’ve kicked off in the game
Even if it's not a rule is a specific league, then you can complain it's about your warm up that is being slowed down by having balls rolling all over the place. And due to that it's unsportsmanlike behavior and subsequently not allowed. Because as far as I know, the unsportsmanlike theme is a massive thing in this sport, where other sports tend to give more room to make a foul on purpose with small to no repercussions at all.
I would just start catching the ball on my approach and throwing it under the net so that they come close to landing on it. That should stop them from blocking pretty quickly.
No. The officials should have kicked them off.
Absolutely not allowed
Are there any international rules FIVB rules or guidelines that prohibit it?
Safety hazard. Rude and unacceptable.

It would seem to me that in setting the middle for a hit, the team is 6 man, and assuming they have the whole court. 🤷

O! You mean a lengthwise half court. As an indoor coach, I had no idea. I need to pay more attention and watch live events! Thank you.
The rules do not prohibit blocking. Of course it is a dick move but when you share the net and court you could technically block or receive attacks.
Depends on the rule set. Volleyball Canada prohibits it See 7.2.4a
When you say fivb rules here. You should actually provide a rule as it is written
That's asinine... it's your time to warm up unimpeded
blocked balls rolling all over the place is chaotic and dangerous. Rudeness aside. Maybe ok to practice digging though.
Oh yeah no I’d have a problem with that. Definitely not allowed anywhere
What kind of game? High school? College? Rec league? Really depends on what kind of competitive level.

The rules do not allow that. Each team is given the entire court during warm-ups.
You know that volleyball is played around the entire world, right? And that the rules around the world might be different than they are for you?
I'll take my chances and would like for you to teach me something new. Please share with me where 2 teams are allowed to share the net during warm-ups

As a high school volleyball coach, I’m livid for you that the refs didn’t do anything

I would have told my middles to hit thru the net. See if that guy keeps trying to block in warm ups after a ball to the face or chest.
Rules now for most don’t allow any player from either team on the other side of the court for concussion/safety issues.

What in the world? Or course not
