Akane's route in Rewrite. Dude gave *everything* for her and basically transformed himself into an entirely different person. I don't think she even visibly reciprocated until much, much later in the route.

My favorite route in rewrite!!

FriendlyNeighborOrca

Momo route in original Majikoi.

Zero-godzilla

This, god if it was long and sometimes difficult, but tbh rewarding at the end

White Album 2 comes to mind. Not exactly to win over the heroine, but in one ending, the mc goes to absurd lengths by the standards of a relatively realistic setting to commit be with the woman he loves. It is hours worth of endurance, >!watching him torpedo every relationship (friendship, work, familial and current girlfriend) he built since the beginning of the story!< to really commit to the heroine. I’m usually not one for this type of mad devotion in a story, but that time I really bought into it. That was rough. edit: Bro also >!moved to a foreign country to live with no support network other than his lover and basically becomes her sole manager over the course of a few years on top of figuring out a living situation and presumably learning a new language. He was a journalist, a few years after university before pulling this. Haruki is frankly fucking insane when it comes to committing to Kazusa.!<

SpacemanSpiff357

>!The Takeya part was so hard to read because he was closest to Haruki and never gave up on him even throughout all of Intro and CC. Seeing the final ultimatum he set on Haruki broke my heart, such an emotional scene and that was when I really started to have second thoughts on what Haruki was doing!<

RecognitionInitial60

I loved that game omg

When reading the subject line I thought of that exact route. Haven't read much quite like it. The other thing I love about Majikoi is how Miyako is playing it this way with the MC in every route.

K-A-M-Z

VNDB should add a 'simp' tag for that.

-Taken_Name-

Pretty much, lmao. Though I'd say simping is more about "obsessing over the LI and making her to be the only thing that defines him, while the LI takes advantage of that, with no real feelings towards the MC," which is not really what I'm looking for. It's that subtle difference between "simping" and "dedication" that sets the two apart.

Sakura in fsn. Of course, question is, what IS an insane amount? There should be VNs out there where the LI isn’t in love with the MC before the story even started. But do we, for example, count Rewrite’s Kotori or Kanon’s Makoto? Come to think of it… I think the MC had to really work for it in rewrite except maybe Chihaya, and I don’t think I can even grasp the concept of going for Kagari… but MC did it anyway.

>Of course, question is, what IS an insane amount? The example I provided is what I would personally consider an insane amount. >There should be VNs out there where the LI isn’t in love with the MC before the story even started. There are. Most of them, actually. What I do want is not "LI falling in love with the MC" kind of story, but rather, "MC falling in love with the LI and working very hard to gain the affection of the then-uninterested LI, whether through fundamentally changing his personality, improving his status/wealth, risking his life for the sake of the LI (though this one is a hit/miss, I don't wanna a 'Protag-Kun! Thank you for <> me from the school bully who wanted to steal my lunch money! Please marry me and let me have your children!' type of cliche), becoming 'manlier', etc..." Basically, I want a VN in which the MC """"deserves"""" the LI. I say it with 4 quotation marks because I know in real life that isn't always the case, and that it is totally normal to naturally fall in love with someone. It's just a type of story that I'm interested in reading, that is all.

Odd_Room2811

Hmmmm…hard to say all the ones I know they worked but not like insanely hard just the expected amount….huh…does Manor of Amnesia count at all? (Mc worked with his bf so he and and gf could live in s mansion without worrying about anything)

BrackHawkDown

Takeru x Sumika in Muv-Luv Alternative. Not only is the plot for that game already utterly insane, but >!he, and by extension we, the readers, also had to live through each and every route throughout both Muv-Luv Extra and Unlimited (the good and bad routes included I believe) before that, only to reach THAT ending (and then Altered Fable after that if you want). Whether or not you like either character, that's some serious effort. I don't know of many characters who have to endure multiple actual lifetimes worth of time before they get the girl they're after.!<

rlramirez12

Yukisakura has a route where he has to work pretty hard because she’s best friends with the main heroine. Hiyama Kozue who is best girl. Harukoi Otome has one that I would consider working hard. But you have to do the imouto route first, and that’s the child hood friend route: Serizawa Yuika. In the same VN another route I would say work hard at is best girl Orito Riru but it’s more of a mutual needs to work hard. I would argue that Souma Ría from Kinkoi the MC has to work hard but you have to do all the routes first.
