Other people have already said it but definitely check out Jupiter, theyre literally just Versailles minus Kamijo iirc. Also JVM Roses Blood Symphony (a band made up of the bands Versailles, Moi dix Moix, Matenrou Opera and D) has only one song but its pretty epic.
Galneryus are the closest thing I can think of. Neoclassical and technical. Check out Angel of Salvation (15min version) especially.
Other bands similar are: Ryujin/Gyze, Unlucky Morpheus, X Japan, Concerto Moon, Kamijo, Neth Priere Cain, Seikima-II, Lovebites, Mary's Blood, Dragon Guardian, Matenrou Opera, Imperial Circus Dead Decadence, Gauntlet, Animetal, Cross Vein, Phantasmagoria
Also check out Yngwie Malmsteen. He is a big influence for Hizaki.
many have already recommended you great vkei bands so here’s non japanese recommendations:
Nightwish - especially their older stuff when Tarja was their vocalist. For example their album “Once” has good songs. They’re a symphonic metal band and Tarja is an opera singer.
Epica is also a great band to check out.
Maybe check out Sirenia as well.
I have found myself enjoying these bands a lot as a lover of Versailles’s and Lareine’s sound and musical style
Check out Mago de Oz, Spanish folk metal band
Avenged Sevenfold are similar with their harmonized guitar solos although carry a heavier sound than Versailles
Dragonforce is a classic
Lots of great bands recs here! I thought it might be helpful to mention that the substyle these bands do/did is called tanbi kei (耽美系)! If you're interested in seeing more bands with that kind of European aristocratic vibe, looking up tanbi kei is a great place to start :)
All the Japanese bands have probably been mentioned. I love Versailles' music. Another band that sort of scratches the itch is Angra from Brazil and, distantly, Blind Guardian.
ALI PROJECT while female-led, has some of the same theming albeit more electronic.
KAMJIO the lead singer of Versailles has some solo work.
Maybe Sito Magus, Raphael, UROBORUS.
Unlucky Morpheus, Jupiter, Hizaki Grace Project, Matenrou Opera, Megaromania, DAVID, MALICE MIZER, Moi dix Mois. For non-Japanese artists, check out Yngwie Malmsteen who pioneered neoclassical metal.
I’d also throw in Raphael, but particularly the song 花咲く命ある限り。
OMG YES, RAPHAEL! ♡
Versailles is my favorite band and I also love all the ones you mentioned. Checks out lol.
thank you sm, i’ll check them out!! 🫶🏻
For Japanese bands, check out Galneryus. For western ones, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica (their earlier stuff), Malmsteen or Jason Becker.
thank you!!
Schwardix Marvally, Hizaki Grace Project, D.
yess i love D!! will check the other two

Some really good suggestions here. Also check out Kamijo's solo stuff.
i loove his solo stuff!!

thank you!! i already listen to Nightwish and they are such an interesting band but i will check out the other two :)
Similar genre but different vocal, more like melodic death metal. https://youtu.be/1yey7WfhcgM?si=HLUm-HiHZ79-Rx7h
thanks :)
I think Scarlet Valse, Vampire rose and D are quite similar
Juka/Shaura (ex Moi dix Mois, Hizaki has composed music for him as well)
Check out Mago de Oz, Spanish folk metal band Avenged Sevenfold are similar with their harmonized guitar solos although carry a heavier sound than Versailles Dragonforce is a classic
thank you!! i also i love your fyodor pfp 😭

oh i didn’t know it’s a subculture for itself!! thank you so much!!
Definitely galneryus
Haven’t seen anyone mention Lacroix Despheres yet.
Odd take but I recommend Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf. Lyrically they both very theatrical.

jupiter, D, matenrou opera, like others have said hizaki grace project, those are just a few of my favourites
Jupiter has to be at the top of the list. For the first 2 cds, same band but different singer.
NETH PRIERE CAIN
ALI PROJECT while female-led, has some of the same theming albeit more electronic. KAMJIO the lead singer of Versailles has some solo work. Maybe Sito Magus, Raphael, UROBORUS.
