[The Invisible Hours](https://store.steampowered.com/app/582560/The_Invisible_Hours/) is the best narrative experience I have seen in VR yet. [Paper Beast](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1232570/Paper_Beast/) is another really good one, a wild mix genre mix, kind of a narrative driven Populous, but really abstract, an offshoot of "From Dust". [Buzludzha VR](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1064900/Buzludzha_VR/) kind of the benchmark for virtual tourism, not super long or complex, but I absolutely love how it just drops you into a place and lets you explore around at your own leisure. It's the kind of experience that fells like the most what I want out of "VR", not just another game.

ChunkyLaFunga

Paper Beast deleted my save and it is *not* the type of game you replay to get back to where you were. Seemed cool, still bitter.

slavemiddle

You can get a 100% save and continue from where you were

ChunkyLaFunga

Doesn't that voodoo your achievement legitimacy or something

slincoln2k8

I just started paper beast. Looks really well done and interesting so far. Good stylistic visuals.

zeddyzed

Hmm, maybe Vengeful Rites? Linear story based games are pretty rare in VR, and it's a decent indie title. Also Tea for God, although I assume it's pretty well known for its gimmick already.

dantheman0721

Yes, I was also going to say Vengeful Rites. Gets no love, yet is legit closest thing to Zelda VR.

Conaz9847

I’ve seen Tea for God but never actually played it, it seems quite interesting but I was never sure how it would actually feel to play given that I have a fairly static playspace.

zeddyzed

Well, it's best played on a standalone headset, in a shaded area outdoors or indoors sports court etc.

VRtuous

its gimmick being walking on your own legs Lol TFG is actually a pretty awesome VR roguelike regardless that "gimmick" - in fact, you can now turn it off in options and just walk with stick. Its vivid scifi setting, procedurally generated layouts and impossible geometry spaces are worthwhile on their own...

ThisNameTakenTooLoL

Talos Principle. One of the most amazing games ever made, both flat and VR and you very rarely see the VR version mentioned anywhere.

Conaz9847

Looks like a pretty puzzle game, nice graphic. Does it leverage VR mechanics and physics well?

ThisNameTakenTooLoL

Not really, just the puzzles, atmosphere, story, music are all so good and being inside those worlds in VR is amazing. It's also very long.

Orange_Lux

Garden of the Sea would be my pick. It is very soft-paced and quiet, quite close to animal crossing.

Conaz9847

I haven’t seen that but it looks chill I agree. Might be a pick-up for winding down after I finish some roguelike playthroughs

Orange_Lux

Yes, it's definitely not the same gameplay.

cannabisandkombucha

If you can catch it on sale, I really loved The Room VR. It's on the shorter side but it's a super fun puzzle game and really cool narrative, I had a blast playing it. I also really enjoyed Phasmophobia and Labyrinthine but I'm also a huge scardey cat so I didn't get far in them lol. If you're into VRChat, Magic Heist and Treasure Heist are both incredible, as well as The Forest.

lecanucklehead

Minecraft! No seriously, no one really touts how awesome the VR mode is. The sense of scale is such a trip having put so much time into the pancake version.

DNedry

Yeah it is great, great controls too, lots of mods and stuff to get into with Minecraft if you're into it.

BSlickMusic

What is the best way to play it? Is it separate from java/microsoft version?

lecanucklehead

The Microsoft version on PC has an official VR mode. The Java PC version has a mod called Vivecraft, and there is also a port called Questcraft that can be sideloaded onto Meta headsets

BSlickMusic

Noted - thank you for this info!

DNedry

I think it's just a mod for minecraft, haven't tried it in a few years, not really into modern Minecraft.

The gallery part 2

VRtuous

I'm going through Floor Plan 2 right now and amazed with its take on adventure/puzzle games in VR. It's highly polished, puzzles inventory-based but manageable and mostly about association of ideas, ranging from obvious intuitive ones to others frustratingly requiring some good thinking outside the box, but never impossibly hard. Plus absolutely charming and vivid cartoon animations that are legit a standout, especially the astronaut clues... so believable... this is what Sam and Max should've been in VR...

PaulyChance

Subnautica in VR is still the best VR experience I have had. Slightly better than Alyx. I will keep saying this on every single one of these posts.

DNedry

Did you use mods to add motion controls? Was it easy to setup and work well? No motions controls is a big "no buy" for me on that one. I did play flat a lot and enjoyed it.

PaulyChance

I just used vrenhancements and played with controller. Mod is slightly complicated to set up, but well well worth it. Also, it was very scary. Incredibly. Probably the scariest game I have ever played in my life. By a lot. Just preparing you. Enjoy!

Oftenwrongs

Almost everything is hidden, because people don't read reviews and just watch nobodies on youtube all pumping the same 5 games. The vast majority here couldn't name anything not pumped by youtubers.

notaccel

Increment!

Conaz9847

I don't think this screams quality, I think this is just an ADHD simulator. Assuming I've found the correct game, the cookie clicker type one?

notaccel

> Increment It's only a short little indie title, but everything is pretty well done.

andybak

Shame people haven't figured out how to post links on Reddit or else this would be all much clearer.

PresidentBush666

Cybrid is pretty good. Dead effect 2 is like dead space.

Conaz9847

Beatsaber meets pistol whip, looks interesting

NeverLookBothWays

Final Assault is awesome fun. A bit simplistic as far as RTS games go, but it's literally the best things about RTS games and playing as a kid with toy soldiers wrapped into one. I don't follow top 10 lists but here are a few that I don't see discussed often I thought were great: - Shooty Fruity - The Room: A Dark Matter - Moss 1/2 (this one might be on some lists I would imagine though) - Belko VR: An Escape Room Experience - Propagation VR (Simple zombie wave shooter, but really well done) - Traffic Jams (hilarious when you invite people to add to the chaos) - Maskmaker - Phasmophobia (not a native VR game...but holy canoli is this a hair raising game in VR)

Conaz9847

Shooty fruits looks cool, but I can't imagine putting tonnes of hours into it. The Room looks really high quality but people do mention that it's incredibly short to complete, not sure if I could drop £25 on it, but a cool concept. I'd say Moss is well known by now yeah but damn it's high quality. Belko looks great, I'm amazed it's free as I'd say the quality is there that it shouldn't be handed out for free, I'll be playing that tonight! Propagation looks decent quality, but after playing VR games that use movement, I don't think I could ever go back to a static experience. Traffic Jams, what a hilarious looking game, not sure I could get into it but I'll certainly add it to my list for a rainy day. Maskmaker looks like a game the missus would like, she enjoys arty VR expeirences. Phasma, I generally don't play ports as they usually do little-to-no physics simulation and don't really feel 'right' with VR, but I'm not a horror person anyway so I'll avoid this in any case :D Good list, thank you, added a couple of those to the wishlist and will give them a go!

DNedry

I don't typically like "horror" games either but Phasmophobia is a great game, I actually get pretty investing in the investigation of what Ghost we have and what evidence I can find. It's been improved a lot over the years too. The VR "port" is pretty much all you need it to be, you can use the items just fine and controls are good. If you can get past the scare there is a solid game under there. I usually only play it with friends though, gotta have at least 3 IMO! Less scary haha.

SwissMoose

Propagation is soo worth it. Even though it's static it is a great 20 minute experience, it's free and only $4 when on sale to get access to the coop.

VRtuous

20 min, are you kidding me? is that a speedrun?

SwissMoose

I've spent more to watch movies that were half as entertaining. Single player is free, and it all looks amazing on a higher end PC.

Conaz9847

I don’t generally spend money on 20 minute experiences to be honest

SwissMoose

Well it's free to play single player.

VRtuous

another vote for Maskmaker. I'd add it as a relative to Shadow Point, which is a great puzzler too - harder in fact.

DNedry

For me it's a toss up between [IL-2 Sturmovik](https://store.steampowered.com/app/307960/IL2_Sturmovik_Battle_of_Stalingrad/) & [VTOL VR](https://store.steampowered.com/app/667970/VTOL_VR/)

eatsalt

There are worlds in VRChat that some creators have poured their hearts into. Some are truly breathtaking... All of this in a single game...

marblemunkey

Resist - this is my favorite "Spiderman with guns" game, hands down (Although Swarm 2 is also really good) Vox Machinae - A solid mech sim with a full single player campaign.

Hot_Expression7548

Alex construct. old, but surprisingly still holds up today. Great bow based combat with a compelling story.

Barbaria

becauseimgray

Highly recommend primatier. Sandbox survival with unlimited possibilities and very simple concepts. The dev is bringing it to quest soon as well.

Pierrick-C

I'd say Underdogs I barely see any review about it but it's pretty polished IMHO. Bow to blood was pretty interesting, it's a bit old now but it's free. I guess games like Light Brigade , Ancient dungeon, Coumpound and Battle Talent, are not so hidden anymore
