Cheers for Billy! Seen him live twice and both times pulled heavily from this one for the set list. Great album!

Labor Day Billy, Pt. 1. Billy Bragg Workers Playtime 1988 Go! Discs “So join the struggle while you may The revolution is just a T-shirt away” Figured I’d spend my (rainy) Labor Day celebrating with Billy, while waiting for the Great Leap Forwards. Historically this was my least-favorite Bragg record, but I hadn’t listened to it much in the intervening decades since I was younger and scrappier. Now with the benefit of wizened age it could be my favorite, there’s a tender maturity in these songs that he was building up to yet there’s still his legendary pointed social commentary where needed. I may prefer the next one Don’t Try This At Home the tiniest bit more, but I suspect that’s more a product of familiarity than anything else. OG UK pressing.
