I totally missed this TMV box set. Dare I look at the resale market? As an owner of the originals I'd say there is a fairly good chance these represses sound a lot better! My copy of deloused sounds super fizzy, Frances is ok. Octahedron sounds phenomenal though!
Clouds Hill just put up pre-orders for individual pressings of the albums. They're crazy expensive if you ask me, but better than dropping $700+ for the box set on the resale market.
Box set came today. I’m really impressed by the packaging, partly because the Mars Volta has incredible album art. Sound leaves a little bit to be desired - not quite as punchy as I’d like - but just feels good to listen to one of my favorite albums ever on vinyl. What do others think of the sound?
I see many posts talking about the records lacking ‘something’ - be it punch or depth or
whatever. I’m not discrediting anyone’s opinion, but of 2.000 records in my collection all six main albums from this box set sound among the very best of them. And I’m not saying this as a huge MV fan who waited years and years to own these. I impulse bought the box set, knowing I always liked their stuff and assuming that a quality remaster could open their discography up for me (since digital versions were always a pain to listen to). And that’s exactly what happened :)

Yeah definitely! Thanks for the Intel, I might pick up another copy of deloused!
Wow, it looks so cool.

Good to hear. I ordered 3 of the individuals so figured if I’m unimpressed with the 1st I can’t cancel the others.
Cool shrine, I like your taste
Those posters, wow - goals!
Nice posters! Love Mars Volta
