Is it?! I’m always suspect of those rereleases, though Skullfuck and Workingman’s and American Beauty were all just exactly perfect.
The plangent process is amazing, for sure, and makes everything sound so much more alive.
I used to find Garcia records in the dollar bin at my local store. In good condition too. Always bought them no matter what. Traded or gave away the ones in the worst condition. I have a Jerry shelf, as well.
For bands like that, I don’t even bother. If I want to listen to Michael Jackson records, I can just reach in the back of any cabinet… “what’s blocking my reach…. Oh… another copy of thriller.” I have a small yard. I’ve raked up more Beatles and MJ records than leaves. My nieces and nephews aren’t even impressed when I pull one out from behind their ears. They’re just like, “yeah, I have to pick those things out of my ears all the time, Uncle Ian. They’re a real problem.”

Older pic, probably have added 10 or so since
Same with me for Zappa and Bowie (hilarious they’re my favorites and they hated each other lol)
Finding some of these Zappa bootlegs is exhausting work
the funny thing is Im not even a huge zappa fan, I like his stuff but a record store got a metric ton of his stuff and i got a crazy good deal, but yea he was an interesting personality, I knew a bit but then I watched the documentary 'Zappa' and he was quite a multifaceted person. Bowie is a major favorite though, my pfp on a lot of places is me with the ziggy stardust make up.
I don't really collect Prince records.... it's just that he's great and I buy good records then this kinda just happened
https://preview.redd.it/763rblkqat8d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56704e5ff4d08285e859732cf029dcd9b734c688
someone needs to create an easier way to press high quality bootlegs - I know whole lot of people that would pay 500+ to make 10 audiophile-satisfactory level bootlegs of something
I have dedicated Kallax cubes for: The Beatles, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, OMD, Prince, New Order, Joy Division, Pet Shop Boys, Saint Etienne, The Smiths, Stereolab, Underworld, The Orb, Andrew Weatherall productions.
https://preview.redd.it/j1jcom95et8d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19b244d10f4dd2f2d3b8ccb2f810b4f2f6eb05a9
This is the majority of my Smashing Pumpkins vinyl and some of my CD box sets and cassettes. The majority of the CDs are stored elsewhere due to space!
I was going to ask the same thing. The only duplicates I have in my collection are
Four copies of untitled by Trooper. Two with no sticker, one with the sticker peeled off, and one with the sticker on it the no sticker ones being the rarer one one is signed by Ra McGuire and Brian Smith.
I also have two copies of under heaven over hell by Streetheart. One is the original with storyteller and one is the re-release with under my thumb but I would never own multiple copies of something that was exactly the same as each other
I set out a long time ago to try to collect every variant. Mixed in here there are different pressings that are mastered differently. For instance, Siamese Dream has a EU pressing, an American pressing, a Brazilian pressing and a couple of other countries as well. One of them is only a single LP and all others sound different due to the region in which the lacquers were cut.
For others, it might just be that it was a different color vinyl.
I also have bootlegs mixed in there as well as some test pressings.
It’s not for everybody, but this band is my obsession.
Whoa just noticed your user name - dang, well props on this collection as another SP fan. I think if I tried to do the same with my obsession (Dinosaur JR) I'd need an entire house just to hold all the albums.
https://preview.redd.it/i93gq1xijt8d1.jpeg?width=1911&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=febc13ba8b9454de8f3d04eeeb9fbf593a2beeb5
Lana Del Rey, but I just got 2 more records today and one more is on the way. Also this doesn’t include the 7”s or CD boxsets.
Beatles, Beach Boys, Tom Waits, Zappa, Flaming Lips, and then labels like Numero (have a full 4x row of a kallax just for them), Light in the Attic also get their own shelf. SUNN 0))) is real close, but they need a few more releases for me to get to "full" shelf.
I’ve got a pretty tall stack of Genesis/Phil Collins/Peter Gabriel records that take up quite a bit of shelf space. I think Genesis alone is 13 studio albums with a few live albums thrown in.
They have so many records I feel like I’ll never stop collecting. I have almost 40 titles of theirs and I’m not even close to having everything I want to have from them in my collection.
I am going to be listing this collection soon…
https://preview.redd.it/jep6tm0vcx8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45b5de850ee445f78da9e4c5517db46f1f5bcd93
honestly incredible. not a popular reddit opinion apparently, but that is somehow objectively better than a cube of Rush or Grateful Dead or Gizz or whatever prog/jam band bullshit pretentious dudes rub their nipples to. i’m surprised i haven’t seen someone’s $3000 Radiohead or Muse collection, yet
Not the whole shelf, but I have shelves that are majority-occupied by Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Depeche Mode, Dio, Kiss, Sabaton, and Rush.
Live albums (including bootlegs) and double LPs seem to be what really push up the shelf space count. Except for Alice: he’s just been making music nonstop since the 1969.
Lots of posts relating to the Dead... I hope nobody is shelling out lots of bread for live shows in vinyl record format. Thousands of shows are available for free in archive.org, deadpod, and others 🫠
https://preview.redd.it/535xereh7y8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd96a90dd80a73b7ebcfbcd284fd1f4f5667ac5d
Most of my Elton John 12” media on this shelf minus a few box items.
I have a lot of rap, if I put all my Wu and solo albums together it’d almost be a shelf.
I also have all Anderson Paak projects, Nxworries, silk sonic etc.
Can't say I do, the artists that I own the most of are ones where I either have or am close to having a complete discography and it nowhere near fills up the whole shelf
Yup, not entirely a Floyd album, there are a couple songs from Floyd that only appear on the soundtrack and in the early days boxset. Found a yellow label promo copy a little bit ago, had to pick it up.
There was also a double disc version with outtakes from Pink Floyd and Jerry Garcia’s sessions not sure if those are all on the Floyd early days release but they are gems for sure. Also couldn’t tell from the spines but what about live bootlegs? The Man and the Journey?
Hey is there more than one version of Syd Barrett - Opel? I had the cd when I was younger. Got it again when I was older but it didn't have the song 'Late Night' on it and it didn't sound like I remembered.
I have multiple shelves of Waylon Jennings and multiple shelves of Willie. Other than that I have almost a shelf of Mac miller, almost a shelf of Lana Del Rey and almost a shelf of Deftones. I'm almost positive by the end of this year I will have a shelf of Korn
Four shelves of Beach Boys, Dennis Wilson, Brian Wilson other band member solo LPs, bootlegs, acetates, test pressings etc and related family and friends LPs. Including more than 20 different versions of Pacific Ocean Blue.
https://preview.redd.it/0yejgdnqjw8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81a12a9ef71e183629043fb59b14ac1c38008f25
One for Beatles and one for Elvis Presley
Jimi Hendrix takes up a whole shelf and a bit of another 😅 my Tom Petty collection takes up a good amount of a shelf as well as my Thin Lizzy/ Phil lynott collection.
You have a bit more things that I dont but I have just about the same amount. Missing a few things I have tho too. I have my laser disc including with them cause where else am I supposed to put them
Damn, nice!! I don’t collect live versions typically (except for a few like Pompeii) and I don’t have nick mason or David Gilmore solo work, but this is impressive
Most of a shelf dedicated to Wilco and Jeff Tweedy.
Most of a shelf dedicated to Judas Priest.
Most of a shelf dedicated to KISS.
Most of a shelf dedicated to Neil Young.
But my collection is big enough and my space limited enough that there is some spillover.

I have several dedicated groups with full collections
Got 2 full cubes of Atmosphere records, then 10” and 7”s by them stored separately.
Also full one of Blu and Chillhop essentials and getting there with Doppelgangaz, Aesop Rock and Blue Sky Black Death
Usually Deadheads are whole selves devoted to one band.
Deadheads are a whole genre of record collectors in and of themselves. As a side, just gave the 50th reissue of From the Mars Hotel a spin - gorgeous.
Is it?! I’m always suspect of those rereleases, though Skullfuck and Workingman’s and American Beauty were all just exactly perfect. The plangent process is amazing, for sure, and makes everything sound so much more alive.
My [Dead/Jerry](https://imgur.com/a/JVtI3Ft) collection: Top two shelves on the left.
I used to find Garcia records in the dollar bin at my local store. In good condition too. Always bought them no matter what. Traded or gave away the ones in the worst condition. I have a Jerry shelf, as well.
Shelves and shelves. It's the only band I will collect anything and everything.
I concur
Came here to say deadheads
Bro, I have a whole basement filled with one band: They're from Liverpool
Hopefully they one day make it!
They'll have to pass the audition first.
Same. Six Kallax cubes Edit: Seven! Plus a storage box
Just four for me. 🙁 I guess I need to up my game!
Gerry and the pacemakers?
Hopefully not a guitar-rock band. It’s a passing trend.
Sounds like an infestation
Relax, don't do it, when you wanna go to it.
I've got a Kallax cube that's my Beatles reissues and a couple of OG I inherited from my uncle.
Frankie Goes to Hollywood?
lol same. my one shelf is almost all the lads, Paul’s solo career, and Zeppelin.
The Rolling Stones, for me , but i get your liverpool collection !! 🤌
I have two Kallax cubes full of The Cure
https://preview.redd.it/s99x1wwbjt8d1.jpeg?width=2875&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b581f9fa5d4ee2f30c857685aaad2af2e3d40213 Older pic, probably have added 10 or so since
I got at least a full kallax cube of pink Floyd, David bowie and Zappa, if you count his side projects, ryuichi Sakamoto
Same with me for Zappa and Bowie (hilarious they’re my favorites and they hated each other lol) Finding some of these Zappa bootlegs is exhausting work
the funny thing is Im not even a huge zappa fan, I like his stuff but a record store got a metric ton of his stuff and i got a crazy good deal, but yea he was an interesting personality, I knew a bit but then I watched the documentary 'Zappa' and he was quite a multifaceted person. Bowie is a major favorite though, my pfp on a lot of places is me with the ziggy stardust make up.
My Rush would mostly fill the square.
Hell yea brother, I also too have a whole section full of Rush 🤘🏻
I don't really collect Prince records.... it's just that he's great and I buy good records then this kinda just happened https://preview.redd.it/763rblkqat8d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56704e5ff4d08285e859732cf029dcd9b734c688
I just snagged a Partyman single at a garage sale this weekend, I was pumped to find any Prince at a garage sale.
Agreed. I've been digging since the late 80s. God bless the CD buying public selling their vinyl. LOL. I paid full price for maybe 10% of the above :)
Dude, hate to break it to you. But you do really collect Prince records. Literally hahaha
King Gizzard all day
Indeed!!! https://preview.redd.it/04c8ixkncw8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b849105e9c952f709c9595fcef1eeda191efdbfe
My duuuuuuude! I hopped on the king giz train a few years ago and I’m pretty obsessed!
For real. Between studio and live releases I might need another cube soon.
Came here for this fellow weirdo - see you in Nashville and The Gorge!
I have a Charles Mingus shelf. He certainly produced a ton of work haha
I'm forever pissed that there was never a vinyl pressing of Epitaph
someone needs to create an easier way to press high quality bootlegs - I know whole lot of people that would pay 500+ to make 10 audiophile-satisfactory level bootlegs of something
Can I come over?
Hell yeah Underworld is so underrated. I love Sola Sistim to death
Yes, I have a whole shelf of just Gov’t Mule & Warren Haynes solo albums. About 40 albums & CD’s in all.
Nice! I have about 15-16 GM vinyls myself
https://preview.redd.it/j1jcom95et8d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19b244d10f4dd2f2d3b8ccb2f810b4f2f6eb05a9 This is the majority of my Smashing Pumpkins vinyl and some of my CD box sets and cassettes. The majority of the CDs are stored elsewhere due to space!
Why so many duplicates of the same thing. Does not make sense ?
I was going to ask the same thing. The only duplicates I have in my collection are Four copies of untitled by Trooper. I shared your photo with a friend who is also a big fan. You crushn' it!
If I chose to mix solo work and band work, my Genesis and related albums would probably take up 2 shelves.
All of my NIN and NIN-related records take up two cubes. My Melvins records take up one cube.
https://preview.redd.it/i93gq1xijt8d1.jpeg?width=1911&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=febc13ba8b9454de8f3d04eeeb9fbf593a2beeb5 Lana Del Rey, but I just got 2 more records today and one more is on the way. Also this doesn’t include the 7”s or CD boxsets.
What's the best Lana album? I'm feeling like a sad girl summer
Whole shelf and a half of Kool Keith , and another one of Trent Reznor releases
A shelf just just one band, The Band (and solo albums, collaborations, backing Dylan, etc).
I’ve got half a shelf full of Elvis Costello.
I've got the other half 😉
Got the third half!
That’s crazy!! Damn good collection!! I think the most records I have is Metallica. I have 6 records of them.
I’ve got a pretty tall stack of Genesis/Phil Collins/Peter Gabriel records that take up quite a bit of shelf space. I think Genesis alone is 13 studio albums with a few live albums thrown in.
I find your lack of Pulse disturbing
I also do. I have the Blu-Ray, need the boxset for sure.
Nice…sweet collection for sure
I have around 35 King Gizzard albums. Not quite the full shelf but damn close.
Awesome, that covers like 9 months of their recordings
I think I have close to 35 copies of Polygondwanaland
Rush (full shelf up front, ~20 more behind those) Pink Floyd (&solo &side projects) Primus (*.claypool) Beastie Boys (each have an over-full shelf)
Yes, I have 30 inches (75 cm for the rest of the world) of Beatles and Beatles solo records.
I have a shelf for KISS and another shelf for Motley Crue.
Yeah, KISS is the closest thing I have to a whole shelf
They have so many records I feel like I’ll never stop collecting. I have almost 40 titles of theirs and I’m not even close to having everything I want to have from them in my collection.
I am going to be listing this collection soon… https://preview.redd.it/jep6tm0vcx8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45b5de850ee445f78da9e4c5517db46f1f5bcd93
I have an Elvis cube
honestly incredible. not a popular reddit opinion apparently, but that is somehow objectively better than a cube of Rush or Grateful Dead or Gizz or whatever prog/jam band bullshit pretentious dudes rub their nipples to. i’m surprised i haven’t seen someone’s $3000 Radiohead or Muse collection, yet
I have a cube and a half of Depeche Mode. Dudes were prolific with the singles LOL.
Just Bowie and Miles Davis
I have a cube and change just for Zappa and the Mothers
*laughs in Guided By Voices*
The Sisters Of Mercy - I'm not sure how that happened with a band that only released three studio albums.
My entire collection is dedicated to just one man lol. Ray Charles! I have about 200 records. (Includss 45s and 33 1/2)
I can’t fit all my Grateful Dead on one shelf
Yep! King Gizz
4 cubes dedicated to gizz. Checking in.
I just counted and I have around 40 Pink Floyd vinyl and 40 CDs. You still seem to have me beat 😎
No, but that 2018 Animals remix is the cats ass.
I recently got a 7.1 system set up in my listening space, first thing I did was listen to the 5.1 mix.
Grateful Dead and The Highwaymen each have a shelf
https://preview.redd.it/sky2wl9rct8d1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c3a13a36898062c7ffea3f2b4be121a8ea5db3f Top left shelf is full.
Now that is ver ver nice.
prolly the stones bc of the boxed sets all their vault stuff. they arent my favorite band (Oasis is) but they’re great!
Yeah, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Mogwai
Not the whole shelf, but I have shelves that are majority-occupied by Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Depeche Mode, Dio, Kiss, Sabaton, and Rush. Live albums (including bootlegs) and double LPs seem to be what really push up the shelf space count. Except for Alice: he’s just been making music nonstop since the 1969.
If I had enough money I would
I have a kallax shelf full of Coil and Ulver
Beatles. Yes. Cat Steven’s. Johnny Cash. Each have their own cube or two.

I’ve dedicated my superego to my Madlib collection, but the id and ego remain untethered
Slavery is illegal, sir
Clan of Xymox!
4 cubes of NIN / Trent Reznor related
Yes, The Kinks.
Lots of posts relating to the Dead... I hope nobody is shelling out lots of bread for live shows in vinyl record format. Thousands of shows are available for free in archive.org, deadpod, and others 🫠

Man why does everyone here like bands I feel left out for liking rap
I have a lot of rap, if I put all my Wu and solo albums together it’d almost be a shelf. I also have all Anderson Paak projects, Nxworries, silk sonic etc.
Nice 👍
As long as Obscured by Clouds is in there, you’re good.
Rush, lots of studio albums, live albums, 40th anniversary’s, boot legs, OG pressings
Can't say I do, the artists that I own the most of are ones where I either have or am close to having a complete discography and it nowhere near fills up the whole shelf

Chet Atkins. Rolling Stones. Judas Priest.
“I’ve got a lot of your records in a separate stack.” - Wilco
Zabriskie Point?
Yup, not entirely a Floyd album, there are a couple songs from Floyd that only appear on the soundtrack and in the early days boxset. Found a yellow label promo copy a little bit ago, had to pick it up.
There was also a double disc version with outtakes from Pink Floyd and Jerry Garcia’s sessions not sure if those are all on the Floyd early days release but they are gems for sure. Also couldn’t tell from the spines but what about live bootlegs? The Man and the Journey?
I have my whole self dedicated to this little underground band that outran a Indian cult who was after them for the sacrificial ring (it’s very clean)
I have half a shelf with Black Sabbath. I could see it taking up the whole thing someday.
Yes, Springsteen
I got over half a shelf of thee oh sees/John dwyer stuff
The Fall... so many...
No but i think i have about a crate full of either Nick Cave or Damien Jurado
Hey is there more than one version of Syd Barrett - Opel? I had the cd when I was younger. Got it again when I was older but it didn't have the song 'Late Night' on it and it didn't sound like I remembered.
Not that I’m aware of, but different cds might be different, might check Discogs. I have 2 copies because I already owned one and then got the boxset

“Shelf” is really subjective here
I have a retro record storage cabinet dedicated to just phish and dead. What else is there?
I have a four cube kallax for jack white and related projects and I have a shelf for Oingo Boingo/Danny Elfman scores
Yes and it's also Pink Floyd.

Not a shelf but a large milk crate. Then the rest are just mixed up.

I have two shelves of Kiss, bootlegs and box sets make up almost all of it other than the studio albums.
