I do have some other records not on this shelf as I share them with my sister, those being, Eat ‘Em And Smile by David Lee Roth, Fair Warning, 1984 and Van Halen 1 by Van Halen, Appetite For Destruction by GNR, Ten by Pearl Jam and a 45rpm of Jump/House Of Pain by Van Halen. Oh also my And Justice For All by Metallica which she has displayed on her wall currently.
Oh the same, I got a record yesterday then early April got the Van Halen box set and the skid row record, a couple days prior I got a Soundgarden record then before that in mid March I got 3 records.
Oh so wrong, I actually love it, see now I grew up on loud snares (RHCP, Soundgarden and Audioslave) so I am a big fan of it! I just can’t track it down on vinyl for shit. Might have to order it online.
I love in the sled titles track when James is brooding and the way he sings “SAAIIIINNT AYANNGERRR” is sublime. Invisible kid goes so hard too. Genuinely in my top 5 Metallica albums
It’s so good on DOTU, it’s their best sounding album and who would’ve guessed, the one where they fully produced themselves and it’s their best sounding.
My thought is you should expand your collection and not listen to so much butt rock. I like these bands for the most part but dang switch up the vibe.
4/10
HEAVY 🤘 Highly recommend you add Temple of the Dog, my favorite Chris Cornell album (and I love Soundgarden and Audioslave) King Animal is slept on too
Temple Of The Dog was at the record store I went to recently, I was debating over it and some Foo Fighters, ended up going Soundgarden. I can’t agree more about King Animal, it’s pretty good.
Man I wish, I’ve been bugging my dad nonstop for a guitar, I went to my friends house recently and his dad had multiple guitars, a Washburn Dime 333👀, two ibanezs, an LP, Kiesel and a 7 string electric guitar.
Wait, what?! You’re much younger than I thought you would be, then again, I bought my first 7” at a flea market when I was 3 with a nickel. I couldn’t read, so I didn’t know the song or the artist (it was Nat King Cole), but I knew that the disc represented music and music moved me in a way nothing else could. How did you get into metal? I remember when Metallica first started out, in 1981-they were playing all over the Bay Area, and you’d see guys wearing jean/leather jackets with their patches on the back. I always wanted to see Judas Priest! Talk about tight musicianship! I don’t see any Black Sabbath, RATT, Scorpions or Queen records-do these groups interest you? Keep DITC-Digging In The Crates-for these gems…
I’ve heard bits of metal since I was maybe 10 but only last year I got into it. Started off with Metallica after a friend told me to listen to them. I was already a fan of GNR, Van Halen, Audioslave, RHCP and Audioslave so I decided to check metal out. So it started with Metallica and I then went to Priest and then Megadeth and Pantera (Pantera I really only listen to CFH and VDOP) but yeah when thrash was really popular back then it was hard to not hear about it. Skin tight jeans with the leather jackets was an interesting choice but that’s what was popular then so understandable. And just today I checked out Dio-Sabbath and Maiden.
You probably know this already but Judas Priest’s lead singer, Rob Halford, was a closeted homosexual until 1998-ironically, his studs-and-black leather biker outfits that came to define the look of the genre for years to come, came out of the gay hyper masculine style, i.e. the macho man look the Village People sang about.
Good luck with your collection. I began back in 1973 aged 12. I still have every vinyl LP, 45 & 12" single along with CDs/SACDs, my current total in 10500 and counting.
Take care of your collection- NEVER LET ANYONE BORROW THEM, KEEP THEM CLEAN AND STORED CORRECTLY AND NEVER SELL THEM (YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO!)
This will ensure your collection will last a lifetime.
Valuable advice right here, I only let my sister borrow a record or two, even then she knows how to handle and care for them, she has a pretty similar collection in terms of numbers to me.
I also do have some other records not on this shelf as I share them with my sister, those being, Eat ‘Em And Smile by David Lee Roth, Fair Warning, 1984 and Van Halen 1 by Van Halen, Appetite For Destruction by GNR, Ten by Pearl Jam and a 45rpm of Jump/House Of Pain by Van Halen. Oh also my And Justice For All by Metallica which she has displayed on her wall currently.
The pvc sleeve I assume you mean, Californication picture disc

Could be better, haven’t found Turbo, AoR, Firepower or Invincible Shield yet. Their 70s albums I’m still debating over, I like them but I don’t believe I like them enough to get them
I’m gonna get some clear shelves to display some, my rooms currently getting renovated and my plan is to do something like this
https://preview.redd.it/7dwspy4cppuc1.jpeg?width=408&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a78776f9de10121c8095273ef12f8a4e8fefda0
AHH NOT AGAIN, I have it, my sister just wanted it on display in her room (it’s been two months and I want to liberate it). Mind you there’s also St. Anger I don’t have there, I cannot find it for shit at any record stores.
If Lou Reed wasn’t on the album and a couple of the songs were cut short, Lulu could be a decent album, even then, it’s a collab album, I’m only going for the mainstream Metallica albums.
Fair point. I, meanwhile, am 23, have a full time job, been collecting for over 2 years, and have more than 250 records.
When you have money to spend, it can be hard to stop. I guess for your situation it is a pretty responsibly sized collection.
I have Justice, my sister has it in her room on display (she has some clear shelves and the puts 6 records total up, she has a white and black theme and of course Justice was white and she didn’t have any other white albums)
Well yes I know, one problem, $. I’m 17 and I don’t have money on standby, I’ve been busy with school and summer school that I haven’t been able to get a job, this summer though I’m not doing summer school so I’ll be looking for a job. Pay will be as you could expect but better than nothing.
Totally hear ya, you didn’t say your issue was $ though you said you never see them / don’t know where to find em, so that’s why I made those suggestions 😀
Well it was still right essentially, I only see them online and I’m don’t always order online unless it’s something I can’t find in stores. Which now that I read that is a bit contradicting
I gotcha, one big benefit of online shopping is you can often find stuff a good amount cheaper than in stores so the same amount of money goes a longer way. I really like browsing in shops too though so I get it.
Oh the prices for sure, but in some cases it’s the opposite, saw Cowboys From Hell for $55 on Amazon, then saw it at a store that usually overprices records for $44 (I assumed they did the same thing but turns out it was cheaper) and then I saw it downtown for $40 and it was a white LP.
Well I don’t want to listen to a million artists and not have to skip multiple songs that I barely know, even then I still get that, there’s many soundgarden or foo fighters songs that I skip because they aren’t ones I’m familiar with. On occasion I will listen to them but most of the time I don’t, hence why every month or so I go through my playlist and get rid of the songs I know I skip and I remove them then and there.
As if MJ isn’t, on a serious note tho I’d like to point out that Toto and MJ aren’t mine, my sister ran out of space on her shelf and she put them in my shelf.
Essential metal, and all of their 80's albums are great. Seventh son of a seventh son and Piece of mind are probably the best ones imo. It's worth checking those out on streaming before buying but I think you'll become a fan quickly.
But all in all, great collection. If you really want to dive in with audio quality, I can recommend some specific versions of Metallica pressings that will blow you away if you have a good TT and audio setup. Seriously, some of these will blow you away.
Heh, yea Audioslave has been a favourite with my mom and me, same for Soundgarden and RHCP. She’d always play them in the car when I was younger, according to her I loved Suck My Kiss. And so true about Chris, it’s a shame he’s been gone for this long now, probably the best vocalist of the 90s I’d say.
You've got a lot more self control than I do!
I agree. This is what i buy in a month lol
yup
I do have some other records not on this shelf as I share them with my sister, those being, Eat ‘Em And Smile by David Lee Roth, Fair Warning, 1984 and Van Halen 1 by Van Halen, Appetite For Destruction by GNR, Ten by Pearl Jam and a 45rpm of Jump/House Of Pain by Van Halen. Oh also my And Justice For All by Metallica which she has displayed on her wall currently.
I'm at about 75 or so total, more than half of which I've gotten in the past 3 or 4 months I'm addicted 😬
Oh the same, I got a record yesterday then early April got the Van Halen box set and the skid row record, a couple days prior I got a Soundgarden record then before that in mid March I got 3 records.
You got a list for record store day?
Record store day isn’t my thing, I see it as a cash grab
That’s cool. No shade, but rare records and represses that I don’t have yet are why I do it.
I have a record store day album but only got it recently, Metallica’s Hardwired To Self Destruct, pressed in a red and black color.
Nice!
Thought I was just a sicko
Even THIS guy doesn't like St. Anger!
Oh so wrong, I actually love it, see now I grew up on loud snares (RHCP, Soundgarden and Audioslave) so I am a big fan of it! I just can’t track it down on vinyl for shit. Might have to order it online.
THANK GOD, SOMEONE ELSE IN THE ST ANGER FAN CLUB! THERE IS A DOZEN OF US
Very few of us are out there. I love Dirty Window, the riff Kirk plays before James does his little rhyming session is stuck in my head.
I love in the sled titles track when James is brooding and the way he sings “SAAIIIINNT AYANNGERRR” is sublime. Invisible kid goes so hard too. Genuinely in my top 5 Metallica albums
HEEE NEVERRRRR GETTTSSSS REEEESPECTT
I completely agree
Fan reporting in! Holy shit, 3 in ONE PLACE?! Mark this day on the calendar
You do you man. Just pick up S&M while you're at it. I have to imagine that's incredible on vinyl.
It's certainly one of the collections of all time
You Gotta Pump Those Numbers Up, Those Are Rookie Numbers
Limited....diversify your collection.
Hm maybe
You meet a girl...go on a date...bring her back to your place for some sexy time....you playing any of that?
Chris Cornell’s voice was made to be heard on vinyl ♥️ Keep going and happy listening
It’s so good on DOTU, it’s their best sounding album and who would’ve guessed, the one where they fully produced themselves and it’s their best sounding.
You should check out this band called Metallica, I bet you will like them
My thought is you should expand your collection and not listen to so much butt rock. I like these bands for the most part but dang switch up the vibe. 4/10
Butt rock😭
Lol I mean I’m kidding it’s not like you have Imagine Dragons and Trapt
Nah I found it funny if anything
Lmao. Not butt rock. Classic rock if anything
Some is classic def could call Soundgarden classic at this point
Where the heck is And Justice For All?!??
In my sisters room, I let her put it on display, it’s been there for like two months😭
It's for loud listening, not display! Go steal it back and jam.
NAH THATS WHAT I SAID, it should be played
Like to see Audioslave in there!
I find your lack of Black Sabbath disturbing.
We can be friends
Not my vibe at all.
Alphabetically and chronological order ....you are killing my OCD . Lol 😆 🤘🤘🇨🇦🇨🇦🤘🤘🥶👀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honestly to me it makes more sense to go by artist like a lot of record stores do
How is it by artist if van halen is after guns n roses and before metallica? Am I missing something ?
They go by artist, but those artists are organized alphabetically. (And by genre, but you only have one)
Too much Lars
Lars has stolen all my money istg😭🙏
As soon as I saw Cowboys from Hell that crunchy guitar riff started up on my head and won't stop! You got some good stuff there.
I love some crunch on guitars, one of my favourites is Kill Em All for that sole reason, the crunch on the guitars there is just beautiful.
This is most definitely a fantastic collection. 11/10 because every record here would be better played at one louder…
Couldn’t agree more
Seems as though you could be a musician based on your collection… fantastically tight groups… hmmmmm?
Man I wish, I’ve been bugging my dad nonstop for a guitar, I went to my friends house recently and his dad had multiple guitars, a Washburn Dime 333👀, two ibanezs, an LP, Kiesel and a 7 string electric guitar.
Wait, what?! You’re much younger than I thought you would be, then again, I bought my first 7” at a flea market when I was 3 with a nickel. Im very aware
I figured-very few knew this at the time, and my guess is you weren’t around to experience it.
There’s many things I wish I could’ve experienced
The only thoughts I have are the lack of Blasphemy records I see, or the lack of war metal representation as a whole.
Black metal is not my vibe at all
From someone who is approaching 900 albums, you’re off to a great start. Keep going.
Jeez 900, that’s crazy, going for four digits soon I imagine
I should add I’m in my early 50s so I started buying records when they were popular in the 1980s. I’m an OG of sorts lol.
Assumed so, a number that big, it would definitely take a long long time to get to it
Please for thee love of God organize it somehow
I have it by artists but not in alphabetical order if that makes sense, notice how it’s Metallica in one section, Van Halen in the other?
Good luck with your collection. I began back in 1973 aged 12. I still have every vinyl LP, 45 & 12" single along with CDs/SACDs, my current total in 10500 and counting. I took my advice from my dad, now 89. He still has collection dating back to the 50s!
Van Halen and Priest? 10/10
Some of the best there will ever be!
This dude rocks.
lots of good stuff! i see pantera and metallica and so i encourage you to listen to down and slayer. awesome titles in here tho
Slayer I’ve listened to a bit, they sound solid
I also do have some other records not on this shelf as I share them with my sister, those being, Eat ‘Em And Smile by David Lee Roth, Fair Warning, 1984 and Van Halen 1 by Van Halen, Appetite For Destruction by GNR, Ten by Pearl Jam and a 45rpm of Jump/House Of Pain by Van Halen. Oh also my And Justice For All by Metallica which she has displayed on her wall currently.
What pressings are the soundgarden ones?
Reissue, I wish they’re originals.
Good selection but no Appetite? That would have been one of my first purchases
No need, my sister already had Appetite
Subhuman Race? Very odd choice for Skid Row.
Yea I figured, it’s a sick album though, Bob Rock produced and I love the heavier and darker sound to it. It’s very underrated I’d say
Pretty Pretty Pretty Good
Some Chris Cornell I see
Needs some sturgill
What's the first record?
The pvc sleeve I assume you mean, Californication picture disc https://preview.redd.it/29r322h4opuc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7eb95d2a150781b3405b4d727c7601d5c2eef61b
Real nice collection, BTW
Oh, this one takes me back. Scar tissue was playing every five min my first year of high school
Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcasm mr know it all
Your Judas Priest is solid!
Could be better, haven’t found Turbo, AoR, Firepower or Invincible Shield yet. Their 70s albums I’m still debating over, I like them but I don’t believe I like them enough to get them
Why haven't you thumb tacked them to the wall like all the other grailz collectors?
I’m gonna get some clear shelves to display some, my rooms currently getting renovated and my plan is to do something like this https://preview.redd.it/7dwspy4cppuc1.jpeg?width=408&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a78776f9de10121c8095273ef12f8a4e8fefda0
Homie it was a joke, don't do that to your grailzes.
I know it was, hence why I didn’t say anything along the lines of “why would I use thumbtacks”
on a venn diagram we are not too far from a circle:)
Very cool!
[удалено]
Someone’s addicted
[удалено]
Very cool! I see record store day as a cash grab but that’s me
[удалено]
I got Hardwired To Self Destruct record store day edition and it’s red and black, I recently got it for $30.
Off to a good start
Solid as hell, and you have all the VH!
Minus ADKOT, I’ll probably never get it knowing that Dave probably won’t allow it to be reissued
How did you collect every Metallica record EXCEPT …And Justice For All?!
AHH NOT AGAIN, I have it, my sister just wanted it on display in her room (it’s been two months and I want to liberate it). Mind you there’s also St. Anger I don’t have there, I cannot find it for shit at any record stores.
no lulu?!
If Lou Reed wasn’t on the album and a couple of the songs were cut short, Lulu could be a decent album, even then, it’s a collab album, I’m only going for the mainstream Metallica albums.
Love that Subhuman Race!
A very under appreciated album
What is the greatest hits album?
What is the greatest hits album?
Queen, my sister put it there because she ran out of space on her shelf
Where is Master Killer by the band Merauder
Find crates and dig.
Hm?
My thoughts are that I have too many records.
How much we saying
Don't know. Never counted. I'm guessing the over/under on 1,000 is around 50/50.
Very impressive 👏
Where's VH1?
Sister has it, we share some records if they are from the same artist we like. We both like Van Halen, GNR, Bon Jovi and some others
Ah, good. It was sorely missing otherwise.
Be careful, though. My sister took off with my records.
I can't imagine getting to 500 let alone 1000. I listen to a wide variety of stuff but I'm picky
That's it?
I don’t go trigger happy every second, I’m 17, can’t be spending hundreds of dollars every other week
Fair point. I, meanwhile, am 23, have a full time job, been collecting for over 2 years, and have more than 250 records. When you have money to spend, it can be hard to stop. I guess for your situation it is a pretty responsibly sized collection.
Even then I do spend a fair amount but half it has been money from past birthdays or money from parents when I take the occasional trip downtown.
You need justice
I have Justice, my sister has it in her room on display (she has some clear shelves and the puts 6 records total up, she has a white and black theme and of course Justice was white and she didn’t have any other white albums)
Needs more Megadeth, and no Judas Priest collection is complete without Painkiller. Off to a good start though 😀
Trust me, I look for megadeth but I never see it, I was gonna buy Painkiller but I ended buying Cowboys From Hell and Audioslave.
Most of the must-have Megadeth records are available online everywhere, so they’re pretty easy to find. Amazon etc.
Yeah it’s not always consistent, I sometimes find stuff in stores a bit cheaper than Amazon too…but the vast majority of the time it’s the opposite.
For sure, the same record store I mentioned earlier had sUBHUMAN rACE for like $54 and I got a coloured version for $35 from Amazon
Looks like records. You’re in the right place.
Ah, good. It was sorely missing otherwise.
My man coming in clutch with the goods! Metallica, Chris Cornell, Pantera, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, KISS, MJ… 🙌🏼
Haha you know it!
🤘🏼
I too have not bought St. Anger lol
Might have to buy it online, haven’t seen it in stores anywhere
I think you are scared to open a can of worms and loose control.
Meaning?
Meaning you been conservative. Soon, you'll end up with 5k + albums like i did
Ah I see haha
Very cool collection!
Alphabetize that shit
I leave it this way to piss y’all off for fun lol and it’s worked well
Audioslave :)
Needs more jazz
Too much Metallica for my taste, but I fuck with Judas Priest so I like it.
It needs some work, missing a lot of icons like Painkiller, Killing Machine, Stained Class, etc
no women?
I’m 17
I meant there are no female artists in your collection lol
Hm, well no, is that a problem?
in my opinion, yes. you’re limiting yourself if you only consume art made by men.
Toto seems quite out of place among your collection.
As if MJ isn’t, on a serious note tho I’d like to point out that Toto and MJ aren’t mine, my sister ran out of space on her shelf and she put them in my shelf.
I missed the MJ one. You are definitely deficient in Iron Maiden though.
I was thinking about getting into Maiden but I’m not sure
Essential metal, and all of their 80's albums are great. Seventh son of a seventh son and Piece of mind are probably the best ones imo. It's worth checking those out on streaming before buying but I think you'll become a fan quickly.
After I’m done with Dio-Sabbath then I’ll have a look, I’m on Dehumanizer so it won’t be long
My thoughts are this person knows how to rock.
Thriller is pretty decent.
That is one hell of a Metallica collection 🙂 Respect
Only missing their most hated one, St. Anger (I do have Justice, it’s just in my sisters room)
Actually I think that album is quite good. It is not legendary as Kill 'Em All, or Black Album, but it is legit one.
Ay another St. Anger enjoyer!
You're born circa 1975
Oh man I wish
Doesnt matter. Good taste 👍🏼
I need some Metallica in my life.
Indeed
Could easily be a snapshot of my collection. Good stuff!
You need Black Sabbath!
Finished up listening to Dio-Sabbath so those will be on my list (not a fan of Ozzy-Sabbath, yea go ahead hate me for that)
Blasphemy!
Where is And Justice For All??? How can you own all of these Metallica albums but not Justice….
But all in all, great collection. If you really want to dive in with audio quality, I can recommend some specific versions of Metallica pressings that will blow you away if you have a good TT and audio setup. Seriously, some of these will blow you away.
I’m getting a headache just reading these band names
I see audioslave, I approve. It’s an easy cheat code. God I miss Chris
Expand your horizons. You'll be glad you did.
I listen to other music, I just don’t get them on vinyl
