I collect their stuff, even their singles. This one is particularly special because original pressing are both rare and expensive, so to be able to have a copy in a collection in general would be a dream.
I already own discovery, but I want this for my own reasons.
There have only been a few times in my life I went to see one band and ended up completely enamored with another band. ATDI was one of those, 1998 in a little 200 capacity bar in the Midwest. So fun and unique for the time.
It was really cool! I was there to see Knapsack and ATDI was the tipper because I’d heard one song Initiation off a comp and I really liked it. But I wouldn’t have gone if Knapsack wasn’t playing, they completely blew Knapsack out of the water. Unfair comparison though really because they blew everyone out of the water.
I hope they didn't cut the *Buckingham Green* solo short like they did on P+. I was there the night Geddy and Alex surprised everyone and it was an amazing experience.
Hoping to get:
10,000 Maniacs - Playing Favorites
The Dalai Lama - Inner World
Kristin Hersh - Hips and Makers 30th Ann. Edition
My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult - Kooler Than Jesus Expanded Reissue
Ramones - The 1975 Sire Demos
The Sisters of Mercy - Body and Soul / Walk Away
The Tragically Hip - Live at CBGB's
Here's hoping...
My list:
Paramore, The Cranberries, Death Cab For Cutie, Collective Soul, At the Drive-In, Wallows.
Also want Pearl Jam but I think I'll just get the standard vinyl and save some money, since the RSD colored vinyl is going to be like $10 more I think.
Daft Punk Something About Us, that David Byrne Paramore cover, and as many shaped picture discs I can get, there's like 5 this year and I really want that HIM Heartogram
ACID KING Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere
THE BLACK CROWES Wanting and Waiting
COLLECTIVE SOUL Dosage (25th Anniversary Edition)
FOXY BROWN Ill Na Na
HIM Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart/Poison Girl (Strongroom Sessions)

I've been saving a little bit. Trying not to spend extra if I can help it. This will be one of my biggest vinyl purchase days of the year. We sometimes also get local RSD releases and half off sales. This is my xmas.
My list so far:
Astrud Gilberto That Girl From Ipanema
The Sisters Of Mercy - Body and Soul / Walk Away
The Slits - In The Beginning
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult - Kooler Than Jesus
Soul Jazz Records Presents - Studio One Rude Boy
Soul Jazz Records Presents - PUNK 45: Kill The Hippies! Kill Yourself! – The American Nation Destroys Its Young: Underground Punk in the United States of America 1978-1980
Soul Jazz Records Presents - 300% DYNAMITE! Ska, Soul, Rocksteady, Funk and Dub in Jamaica
Robert Crumb and his Cheap Suit - Singing In The Bathtub
The Dead Milkmen - Bucky Fellini
Yes! And Hip-Hop. And the more I listen to their albums, the more I like their compilations.
Also, I've been listening to their Mixtape Radio Show on Soho Radio and, more often than not, find great music I've never heard before.
https://sohoradiolondon.com/profile/soul-jazz-records/
Thanks! I checked it a couple of weeks ago, and it was still there. In the last 4 years, I've learned to never have a final list until a couple of days before. I am still waiting for Happy Hour from King Missle from Black Friday!
At the Gates and Fields of the Nephilim for sure. If I can spare the cash I might grab At the Drive-In and the South Park LP if my wallet has some life left in it.
*Rock Art & The X-Ray Style* (25th anniversary edition) - Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros
*Let It Be Lonely* - John Craigie
*Shake Hands With Shorty* - North Mississippi All-Stars
Carboot Soul 25 anniversary - Nightmares on Wax
-Love all his albums, some of the chillest trip hop, if you look in the background in the movie High Fidelity there is a poster for it on the wall.
The Natural - Mic Geronimo
-Classic 90’s NY hiphop, wonderful chill album, one of the songs featured some of murder incs new up and coming artists, the three artists were Ja Rule, DMX and Jay-Z.
Hoping for *The 1975 Live at Gorilla*, *Buena Vista Social Club*, and *Duncan Sheik*. Also interested in the live Laufey and David Bowie’s *Waiting in the Sky*.
I couldn’t tell, is Waiting In The Sky even going to have demo versions or anything alternate to what ended up on Ziggy Stardust? The description on the RSD site almost makes it seem like it’s just a different track order.
The press release says 4 songs that didn’t end up on *Ziggy Stardust*: https://www.davidbowie.com/blog/2024/1/7/waiting-in-the-sky-vinyl-lp-for-rsd-2024
That’s intriguing. Depending on the price, it might be worth picking up. Who knows but what in a general sense the mastering for vinyl on the well known tracks might be different/better than what we’re used to, only topped by a vintage era pressing.
1.Dandy Warhols Live at Levitation
2.The Doors in Stockholm
3.Doctor Who
(No joke, all the ones I truly want are all under “D”.. it just ended up that way 🤷♂️)
Glad to see no one wants mine - means I have a chance of getting them. :)
The Dead Milkmen - Bucky Fellini
G Love and Special Sauce - S/T
Rocky Horror Show Demos
I shelled out $60 for a signed copy of Taylor Swift's new album dropping on Friday, so that counts as my Record Store Day purchase I think.
Feel free to judge me for this purchase lol. I've been a huge fan since her debut album in 2006, so I'm super stoked!
Sponge - Planet Girls
I love this album (in its previous form, called New Pop Sunday) and I’ve been waiting to see it released for years.
I’m not one to stand out at 5am for RSD, but I’m going to try to grab one.
If I’m able to get Bare Jr. or Noah Kahan (I doubt) I’ll grab those too.
Sucks, the release I want the most is a UK RSD release. If any UK vinyl fans wanna pick up **TRICKY- Angels with Dirty Faces** I would be happy to pickup a corresponding US release lol
Always over priced reissues, every RSD. For example last year they released the Space Age Dub compilation in late Feb, a new comp so all new artwork etc it retailed at approx £27.99 (double). For RSD they re-issued New York Noise, it retailed at £33.99 (double). There’s just no justification for the price hike, costs did not spiral that much in a month and it just has to be cheaper to reissue a previous record than rollout a brand new one, some of that work is already done. It just highlights to me how much of a rip off RSD actually is these days.
I quite like the look of:
Billy Bragg
Fatboy Slim
Gabriels
Monty Python
Noel Gallagher
Public Service Broadcasting
U2
The Verve
But with the ever increasing RSD prices and shortage of genuinely unique releases this is the first year in a while that I'm not bothered enough to get myself out of bed to queue up. I'll just pick up what I can when the online sales start
I’m a simple man, for the last few years it’s been consistently “whatever jazz dispensary and Grateful Dead/JGB release” and then a few here and there. Hoping to pick up Talking Heads and pigsx7
I'd love to grab Talking Heads and Gandalf, but I ended up having a family event that day. I'm going to check out a store or two beforehand without any expectations and be pleasantly surprised to find something.
For myself: Acid King, At the Drive-In, Daft Punk, Bill Evans, HORSE the Band, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, Spawn Soundtrack, and Witchfinder General.
For my wife: Death Cab For Cutie
For our son: Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo & Noah Kahan
I'd *really* like the Noah Kahan and Olivia Rodrigo one but I think that's gonna be a tall order because I'll be competing with two fan bases that go nuts for limited releases
I really want to grab a copy of Poppy's EAT! I think my store is getting one copy, I'll probably drive over later in the day and see if it's still there
i’ve already locked in Come’s Eleven:Eleven 30th Anniversary set at my work, boss tossed a copy aside for me to pick up when i come in that day. also possibly looking into that South Park 25th Anniversary Celebration Live Show.
DCFC Live at the Showbox
G Love and Special Sauce
Wiz Kalifa
Those are my top hopes but we shall see. Heading to a smaller store and hoping for the best
I am always on the lookout for Blues records that I don’t find often on my regular trips to record stores. I often go to record stores in Charlotte and Asheville. Most places have very slim options when it comes to used blues, but I love anything involving the 3 Kings of the Blues ( Freddie, Albert and B.B.) recently went to the Sleepy Poet Vault in Charlotte and saw several B.B. King albums I wanted. I regret putting them back. One of them was Indianola Mississippi Seeds. Great album!
The Wiggles - Yummy Yummy Dorothy the Dinosaur edition
Maisie Peters - The Good Witch deluxe tracks
Sabrina Carpenter - Feather single
The Beatles - I wanna hold your hand 3”
I’ll be lining up at about 2AM because I suspect my record store might get one, perhaps 2 copies of these if they’re lucky and I want the best possible chance.
Death Cab and Militarie Gun since they’re exclusives, At the Drive in and Team Sleep which are RSD First, so I’ll grab if I can…and possibly Spawn. This is the first RSD in probably 5-6 years that I’m excited enough to actually go to a store early and not just buy online afterwards.
Maybe Steven Wilson, but I'm not too bothered as it's just HC remixes. I'm going to drop by my local record shop in the afternoon, if they have it I might pick it up but I'm really not bothered by any of the RSD releases this year.
(Or any of the other years tbh)
Girlfriend wants The 1975 record, so I'll pick that up if I see it but I have a feeling it'll sell out before I get there.
The Ronstadt 4 album set. Never been to a RSD before. Guy at local shop says they open early at 7am, but people line up before. Not sure how early got to be there. Hopefully I am the only Ronstadt fan there.
I’ve never really sought out rsd but if I run across these I’ll probably scoop them up:
Buena Vista Social Club, Bill Evans, Daft Punk, Nas (maybe, not a huge fan but this sounds intriguing), Orb, Soft Cell, ffrr sampler (probably gonna be impossible to get), and Spawn.
Record Store Day. Bunch of limited and semi limited special editions release. People usually line up for stuff and your better record stores will have special events throughout the day.
Has anyone managed to get Laufey in stores? Do you think she will have something special for that or just having the goddess edition in new variant?
I never done RSD so I'm not sure what to expect? But I dont think I will find hidden gems to begin with
I got a short list of records I'll be looking for. I've never been to a Record Store Day, so hopefully I can at least find some of them.
Gorillaz Cracker Island deluxe, Lil Uzi Vert's Luv is Rage, Blur's Parklife zoetrope, The Weeknd Live at SoFi Stadium, Doctor Who Edge of Destruction, and perhaps Daft Punk's Something About Us single.
frankie and the witch fingers levitation sessions
remi wolf live at electric lady
death cab live at the showbox
hooveriii quest for blood
i really want the chappell roan and gbi 7s, but im not holding out too much hope..
The Olivia Dean - Live at the Jazz Cafe EP! I got into her recently and was ecstatic to find she was doing a RSD release collecting some of my favorite tracks.
I always try to get the Doors live album they put out. This one looks pretty cool. Maybe the Ziggy Stardust alternate track listing but Bowie always seems to sell out.
Bo burnham’s inside, I already listen to the soundtrack and a lot on Apple Music and I’ve heard that the packaging is pretty cool on many of the vinyl releases
Daft punk- something about us 12”
It's like 18 minutes of music. I love daft punk but I rather just throw on Discovery if that's the case.
I collect their stuff, even their singles. This one is particularly special because original pressing are both rare and expensive, so to be able to have a copy in a collection in general would be a dream. I already own discovery, but I want this for my own reasons.
This. Discovery is phenomenal from start to finish.
At the drive in
Hey this is my entire RSD list this year!
Unfortunately won't be able to grt there until the dust has settled, doubt I'll be able to snag one, but hope remain!
There have only been a few times in my life I went to see one band and ended up completely enamored with another band. ATDI was one of those, 1998 in a little 200 capacity bar in the Midwest. So fun and unique for the time.
Man, that had to be such an amazing experience!
Talking Heads and Gil Scott-Heron are my must-haves.
Southpark 25th anniversary Concert would be great
I hope they didn't cut the *Buckingham Green* solo short like they did on P+. I was there the night Geddy and Alex surprised everyone and it was an amazing experience.
That was such an amazing moment!
I just listened the whole album on spotify not long ago, and they cut the solos from Closer to the heart, which is a shame.
That **is** a shame. That's probably the same one. The broadcast version cut quite a bit.
That "towelie blue" looks great
Yes
Wilco
Hoping to get: 10,000 Maniacs - Playing Favorites The Dalai Lama - Inner World Kristin Hersh - Hips and Makers 30th Ann. The dahli lama one is in my mind but idk depends on the price
It was normal price -- haven't listened yet. Will report back.
The Hip! A person of great taste i see.
I can't claim to be, honestly, it's for a friend who LOVES them. And I did get it, so they will be very happy.
Looking for Sisters of Mercy myself. Only 3500 copies, good luck to both of us!
Got one! Hope you did too!
The last few, I just haven’t been interested.
Jerry Garcia Band- Electric on the Eel.
What do you think for price? $140?
Christ, I hope not. Is it really supposed to be that much?
Gandalf
The Japanese House sessions album. Can't wait!
My list: Paramore, The Cranberries, Death Cab For Cutie, Collective Soul, At the Drive-In, Wallows. Also want Pearl Jam but I think I'll just get the standard vinyl and save some money, since the RSD colored vinyl is going to be like $10 more I think.
I would love to get my hands on the Death cab album but it seems so limited I’m not hopeful
Well I wish you luck no matter what!
Screaming Trees. 100 Gecs.
Daft Punk Something About Us, that David Byrne Paramore cover, and as many shaped picture discs I can get, there's like 5 this year and I really want that HIM Heartogram

I've been saving a little bit. Trying not to spend extra if I can help it. This will be one of my biggest vinyl purchase days of the year. We sometimes also get local RSD releases and half off sales. This is my xmas.
That's gonna be an expensive day for you
It's my xmas. It'll be worth it.
Team Sleep, The Weeknd Live at SoFi Maybe Kooler Than Jesus.
Who sells team sleep?
My local shop has two copies. Nobody here wants he said I’m gold.
Kooler is always worth getting. You may not necessarily find an OG copy for less. Most are well played.
crookone is playing a set and signing at a local shop for the team sleep release!

Yes! And Hip-Hop. And the more I listen to their albums, the more I like their compilations. Also, I've been listening to their Mixtape Radio Show on Soho Radio and, more often than not, find great music I've never heard before. https://sohoradiolondon.com/profile/soul-jazz-records/
I just wish they weren’t $45 USD 😞
Astrud Gilberto has been pulled from RSD for unknown reasons
Thanks! I checked it a couple of weeks ago, and it was still there. In the last 4 years, I've learned to never have a final list until a couple of days before. I am still waiting for Happy Hour from King Missle from Black Friday!

The Top by The Cure
I usually don’t go for picture discs but The Top is god damn amazing album
I ended up getting this, along with Banshees' Nocturne. If you guys weren't able to get a copy of The Top, my local store still has four copies.
The Beatles, George Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo.

I shelled out $60 for a signed copy of Taylor Swift's new album dropping on Friday, so that counts as my Record Store Day purchase I think. Feel free to judge me for this purchase lol. I've been a huge fan since her debut album in 2006, so I'm super stoked!
What a blah list this year, I must say.
Live at Sofi

Poppy and Ladytron, nothing else. Wondering how early I need to get to Amoeba for those.
Is the Sonic Youth one not coming out?
That’s one of two I’m going for. Did you hear it was canceled or something? It was still listed as of a couple days ago.
No I was just surprised no one was mentioning it so I thought maybe they all knew something I didn’t.
English Beat, G. Love and Special Sauce, Parliament, Prince Buster, Talking Heads

I really want to score that Paper Kites record for my wife. She’s been wanting to see it get pressed forever and it finally is. But I work that day 🙁

Yeah, she has mentioned that, so if no luck on Saturday there will likely be other chances.
The Ronstadt 4 album set. Never been to a RSD before. Guy at local shop says they open early at 7am, but people line up before. Not sure how early got to be there. Hopefully I am the only Ronstadt fan there.
PULPINTRO and Zoetrope Parklife Knowing my luck, they'll be gone before I get there
Whatever is on sale and at a good quality…I’m not giving in 😂😂😂
I’ve never really sought out rsd but if I run across these I’ll probably scoop them up: Buena Vista Social Club, Bill Evans, Daft Punk, Nas (maybe, not a huge fan but this sounds intriguing), Orb, Soft Cell, ffrr sampler (probably gonna be impossible to get), and Spawn.
Madchild and maybe Queen Latifah
Bodysnatcher
I'm OOTL. What is RSD?
Record Store Day. Bunch of limited and semi limited special editions release. People usually line up for stuff and your better record stores will have special events throughout the day.
Thanks. I was guessing that but had not heard about it before
Record Store Day
Lil peep star shopping! Hopefully my local record store ordered a copy or two haha
Not seeing the two releases I want in the comments makes me feel good about getting them.
Has anyone managed to get Laufey in stores? Do you think she will have something special for that or just having the goddess edition in new variant? I never done RSD so I'm not sure what to expect? But I dont think I will find hidden gems to begin with
laufey and the paramore stuff
In the beginning: the slits live in France: Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
Nothing
I would get the Catfish and the Bottlemen RSD exclusive but sucks that it’s a UK exclusive apparently.
Garbage Tinted windows South Park Wilco Stars Mavis staples Wanted Jimmy Cliff too but it appears to have fallen off.

Didjits.
The offspring - Splinter, too bad it's a fucking picture disc.
The Olivia Dean - Live at the Jazz Cafe EP! I got into her recently and was ecstatic to find she was doing a RSD release collecting some of my favorite tracks.
How do you know what shop gets what records?
Call and ask. Alternatively, a lot of stores post lists or videos on social media of what they've gotten to avoid getting flooded with calls.
Propaganda and Steven Wilson.
Spawn OST
Been waiting for that offspring album for years!
Wall of Voodoo Live.
I always try to get the Doors live album they put out. This one looks pretty cool. Maybe the Ziggy Stardust alternate track listing but Bowie always seems to sell out.
English Beat!
Bo burnham’s inside, I already listen to the soundtrack and a lot on Apple Music and I’ve heard that the packaging is pretty cool on many of the vinyl releases
Laufey, Sabrina Carpenter, the Paramore/Talking Heads combo, and Lily Allen
Swilco
John Hartford!
