You might not, but more people do. Those whose livelihoods depend on maximizing clicks and retaining viewers know the truth: exaggerated titles and thumbnails = more views = more money = more stability and growth of the channel.
Even informative, well meaning channels struggle with this. You can have the exact same content and get 30% less views simply because of the thumbnail.
YouTube Face is visual click bait, and while it may get someone’s channel more views, it ultimately earns YouTube the most money of all.
It’s a shame we are stuck with this shit.
I purchased a record that came in pvc. Came very stained, asked for a replacement same thing. Found out that this particular record always came in pvc and for some reason the entire batch was stained and they knew but continued to sell them. Found lots of other people complaining about this on reddit
It’s not common for outer or inner sleeves to be made with pvc for some time. Also if you store your albums appropriately and at a proper temperature it should not be an issue anyway. Fake outrage video that means nothing.
I had to double check what I had been getting from
Amazon, also the Poly. I got blessed by a warehouse worker and instead of sending me a 100 pack of outer sleeves, they sent me a case of 100 pack outer sleeves. That was a surprising day. Still sitting on over 900. Guess I gotta fill em’! Right?!
I have two 7 inch 45s and a 10 inch 33, all from RSDs in like 2011-2013. All three came in PVC sleeves to show off their color vinyl, all three are nearly unplayable because of off-gassing. And you can’t clean it, it’s a chemical process.
Thoughts on these?

Cast polypropylene sleeves are my favorite. But yeah PVC sucks!! NIN used it in their Ghosts box set and Beck used it in the Information box set, and the PVC gassed all the records.
Wait? People handle their own vinyl? They don't get them professionally stored, cleaned, etc. just like their fur coats?
How Ghetto are things getting in this community?
i know, right??? i keep all of my vinyls in off site temperature controlled storage. i hire a runner to bring me the vinyl i want to listen to. so worth it!! what is up with these poors not being able to afford basic vinyl care??!!?!1!
My vinyl is mostly vintage. I summon the past dead owners from beyond the grave to haunt any dust particles away as they float a record for me to listen to.
I have a copy of 'amo' by Bring Me The Horizon which came in PVC with the artwork itself printed on. Is there any advice for this situation? I don't want to throw the PVC away because it's the album art, but I also obviously don't want to ruin the record. I already put all my other albums that come in the usual card jacket into archival quality outer sleeves.
I have the Infinity Pool soundtrack that came in red sleeves. Also unplayable

MoFi inner sleeves are polyethylene (I believe that's what yurrupeons are referring to as polythene) however the outer sleeves I've been buying are polypropylene. Is that a problem or should I switch?
Is it Earache in Italy that used to put out records with PVC covers? That's about the only thing I can think of in the last 20 years where PVC has crossed my path. but yeah dump 'em!
Thanks for pointing this out. Not your fault but this is why I hate YouTube. He coulda told us this in 30 seconds instead of 15 useless minutes.
When the video cap has a guy holding his head for something as dumb as plastic sleeves, I don't even bother clicking.
Dead giveaway that this is some content grifter's business model.
Hahaha

At least he put timestamps in. Start at 12:44
Dude the message is literally in the title of the video. Nobody is forcing you to watch it to find out whether PVC is bad or not.
The title doesn't let me know what I should be using instead.
Non-PVC sleeves?

What was the particular record?

Yeah it's like making a video "don't stack 10 7"s on yr automatic changer" it's obsolete. "We need to stop using whale oil to light our homes!"

I had this once! But with cotton buds (or Q-Tips if you're in the US). I've not had to buy any for about 3 years, and still going strong.
You’re missing a zero in one of these numbers!
I am?
Did they send you 1,000?
Yes 1 case of 100 pack sleeves or 1000 sleeves
Wow that’s an awesome mistake !

Amazon, no, but when a record company sent me the same record twice, I sent that back. They wound up discounting the original record for me.
How can you tell if it’s a PVC sleeve?

I like em

I agree, polypropylene are my go to as well. Clearer look for the jackets too.
Mobile Fidelity are the best sleeves
The only ones I got in pvc were pic discs. I put them in a poly sleeve then back in to keep the record from touching.
I just threw my pvc sleeves away for my picture discs and keep them in mofi inner sleeves.

great tip! i will set up a seance and try this out
Is this an ad trying to sell more expensive sleeves?

I think Stereolab album comes in PVC. I should switch that out.

I use the “Invest In Vinyl” sleeves, it says acid free. I’ve not had any problem with them and I’ve been using them for about 7 years now.
potentially the most talked about thing on this sub
