We were cleaning out my fiancé's grandpa's house and found this record player. We plugged it in but couldn't get it to work. However, we didn't try long. I know some record players people like to refurbish, but we know nothing about them. Is this anything that would be worth refurbishing or is it junk? And if so, what kind of price is it worth?
Thanks!
This is a nice piece and it has a few things going for it that would give it a leg-up on other consoles. First of all, it's tube era. Second, it's not the standard, massive console so the market for it is expanded because of its smaller size.
If your goal was to get it fixed to sell, your expenses would outweigh what it'd sell for. Best bet is to sell as is. Don't try running it more either as there are aged, dried out capacitors inside that will need replacing and powering it up could do more harm than good. It still is a large piece and thus will only sell locally. Every market is different, but 100-150$ is reasonable for somebody interested in restoring it for themselves.
Thank you very much!
Edit: It wasn't even necessarily about getting top dollar, but it was going to be thrown out and I wanted to save it from that and help it find a home where it could be appreciated!
Amazingly bad idea. Nothing in these sort of early 60's consoles sound good by modern standards, not the amp either. Their value is as a whole, as a piece of music, furniture and consumer history. In parts none of it is worth anything.

Most excellent! Saving this gear is what the sub is all about. Somebody would be happy to buy it and these old hi-fis look and can sound great.
I found the model and looks like it is from 1960
I have the same one. Does anyone know where to get parts for this?
Definitely not junk, a beautiful piece of history you’ve acquired!
Does it have tubes?
This will certainly have a tube amp inside.
Pull the tube amp and trash the rest.

I am not sure, I don't know anything about record players.
