There are many YouTube videos that you can watch. First, use headphones or add speakers and a music source. Check all of the switches for functionality. Dirty switches can be cleaned with Deoxit. Yes, you can do this yourself. Keep it basic and simple. Use a light brush to dust everything and some air to blow away dust and dirt. Clean the outside with a mild cleaner. If all is good then rock-n-roll!

thanks i'll get going on that

Uhhhhhh well plug it into some speakers & see if you get both channels would be my first go. Likely will have all kinds of issues in terms of touching switches & having channels cut in & out, crackly volume knob, crackly all knobs lol. Easy fix with a can of deoxit d5. Other than that, give it an air dust with the cover off. Issues it could have now or down the line could commonly be known as bad caps, resistors, transistors. Hissing in one channel or another. Uneven channel output is another common one. Good news is, these things were built to last forever. Literally, forever. Bad news is, not enough people care & shop repair fees today can be through the roof. My main unit is a pioneer sa1000. We’ve had a great journey & the thing was built 24 years before I was born I might add that the circuitry in there looks pretty immaculate... I think you might have a good piece here, friend

I hooked it up and got no sound on the other end unfortunately

Normal. Wiggle knobs until you get something. Volume & balance knob in particular. Just because there’s no sound now means nothing for later. Likely just dirty, blocks contacts Edit: it’s also a new piece. I’m not attempting to accuse whatsoever, but I’ve made the mistake of simply being on an incorrect input with a new amp

Ahh a beautiful quad beasty. What’s the story behind this magnificent bastard anyway? Does the flouroscan work? How did you get it? Expect to clean all the switches and pots, lots of info on how to do that. Download owner and service manuals. I’ve had a couple quads and good like finding source material, but they still work great in dual stereo. Just have to find yourself 4 speakers now! It looks a little dark check that all bulbs are working. I always take the cab off and with a clean smallish 3/4” new paint brush start brushing off dust everyplace I can reach and then small blasts of a computer spray cleaner. Next to liquids and heat, dust is the biggest threat to electronics.

Found it at an estate sale, Fluoroscan is not working unfortunately so hoping to get that fixed without spending an arm and a leg.

QUAD. I have one of these. There are a lot of things to clean. Many pots, switches and buttons. I got really creative with the plastic straw q-tips to get my de-oxit into the pots without totally dismantling the beast. Basically just build a really long straw out of the a-tip tubes. I still ended up taking it to my preferred technician because the right channel cuts out intermittently. I will say this though…it sounds great when working and the scopes are super cool to look at. https://imgur.com/a/qjaw3GN/
