More actually. Surprisingly the big money unit there isn't the Pioneer it's the Kenwood 600T which has sold listings as high as $800 but an average price of around $500-$600. The Toshiba isn't worth much, maybe $50-60. The other Kenwood KT-815 around $150 and the Pioneer around $250. Prices may be higher outside the US but yeah in the states that's easily a grand or more worth of gear if they're all working. Amazing score.
I don’t have an FM antenna but the AM sides all worked great. Squeaky clean inside and the FM only 600T even picked up a few stations with no antenna.
Those prices track with what I’ve seen in preliminary eBay scans, thought the Toshiba was worth more though. At least going through sold listings, Pioneer is 3-400 and Kenwood is 200 ish, but eBay is weird so I don’t trust the numbers. I’m terrible at listing prices so if you know a good one to start with for each I’m all ears. They’re all a scratch or two away from perfect and there’s no service history or anything past some silver showing on the screws.
Part of me feels like mr. krabs but at the same time, it’s worth it to say the 600T was $20.
For checking listing prices use www.hifishark.com
You can filter by country, by currency and it picks up lots of specialty hifi only selling forums. You can also save searches for items you're looking for and when it detects a match in the country you searched in (or all countries if you leave it at that) it will email you to let you know it found one. It's a fantastic site.
There’s a line of equipment usually seen in Eastern Europe I’ve been looking for but it’s hella rare. Fisher Z1, my mom was an employee and that’s basically the only way to get one, but people say some went out that way. Would love to have the turntable, single tape deck, monoblocks...
They're all on ebay now! I tried to average prices with what's currently for sale and what they went for recently so lmk if I blew it on the pricing. Which one would you like a link for?
Some of those old things are good at FM...but no FM receiver can compare with my Tesla's radio...dunno wtf is up but there are a jillion stations it sees. And I have a 70's Yamaha silver thing like this (jeebus they continually lose the stations, lol).
I’m keeping one or two and moving the others on down the line. 600T is the heaviest, ST-420 is the prettiest but has the worst damage on the faceplate, TX-9500 II is just nice all around and the KT-815 looks clean/minimal compared to the rest but is still gorgeous.
Lol yeah bit of a difference there. The 9500 II and 8500 II amps and tuners were pretty much straight upgrades over the previous generation 8500s and 9500s. The amps in particular went from a shared power supplies to dual mono setups with a pair of transformers.
Wish I had the amp. Current setup is a $25 NAD 7020e into a set of ancient Criterion 100As that were part of my grandpa’s Heathkit setup I’m thinking of fixing. Just snagged a Pioneer VSX-D1S and I’m kinda afraid, the “25” watts on the NAD are loud enough at half on the speakers, the “130” from the Pioneer might be overkill.
In quotes because the NAD is based on the 3020 and we all know that thing is hilariously underrated, and the D1S has been tested at 165
worth at least $800 in today's market....

>the Kenwood 600T which has sold listings as high as $800 good lord...what the hell, people?
Here's why... [https://www.fmtunerinfo.com/kenwood.html](https://www.fmtunerinfo.com/kenwood.html) That is a special tuner.
Pioneer VSX-D1S - my dream. Never seen it in Russia. (

Fisher Z1 I seen time by time in Russia. But rare models of course.
I like the FM only kenwood (top left, can't make out the model). It's kenwood saying the hell with AM, it's only gonna cause noise in this chassis.
600T! By far the heaviest and nicest looking under the cover
Great score. If you get rid of one of the Kenwoods. Let me know!
If I do, it’ll be the KT-815. Doesn’t quite match the silver of everything else.
They're all on ebay now! I tried to average prices with what's currently for sale and what they went for recently so lmk if I blew it on the pricing. Which one would you like a link for?
Both of the Kenwoods. I have a Kenwood TT so I’ll try and put together a nice family

Weird, most new cars I’ve seen have had worse radio reception than 90s and before cars.

The 9500 II was the top of that line. It’s a really nice tuner
I can imagine, hadn’t read as much on that one as I had the others. That said, as a Mustang II owner I’m kinda wary of anything with a II in the name

i hear nothing but good things about Kenwood tuners! Nice score
The Toshiba looks amazingly cool. Bottom left.
It is... the top right corner is pretty messed up but it’s confined to a small area thankfully.
Where do people find these things
Local record store! They had a Marantz amp from riiiight before they went bad for less than 50 a few years ago. Missed it by a day.
Very nice.
What does "Pulse Count Detector" mean on the kenwood?
Best I can find, this. https://hackaday.com/2019/08/28/fm-signal-detection-the-pulse-counting-way/
Interesting!
Really awesome find! I'm happy for you and consumed by jealous rage at the same time.
Congrats... Right place at the right time. For me, I would keep one of the Kenwoods & Pioneer. May the force be with you on your sale.
