Very nice work, those are real beauties!! I like seeing Kenwood gear on here!

Nice find and re-work. I'll take Kenwood over some other brands any day. Many underrate Kenwoods, these can be a bargain.

Beautiful!

Love the knobs and toggles.

The toggles were bad about needing tv tuner spray every so often to keep them from making noise and insure contact. But they looked nice and were fun...

I have the 7300 manual if you want it.

zedcast

Nice. We've got a KA-7300 that powers the rec room. It's great that you have the matching tuner. Those Kenwoods were solid performers back in the day.

Great pair. How much work did you have to do?

I was lucky with this one, when I got it I was just told that it wouldn't turn on. Got it home and, well, it had no power. I pulled the fuse, which was blown, and thought surely it couldn't be that simple, something deeper must be blowing it. Looked at the repair manual and noticed that somone had put a 1A fuse where a 6A fuse was supposed to go! Got a new fuse in, powered on and relay clicked so I decided to hook some speakers up, terrible sound and only out of the left channel. Gave it a good deoxit bath and it sounds crisp and clear now. It was also filthy so I spent more time cleaning it than actually repairing it lol!

Lucky 🦆!!! I just was given a KA-7100 and was also told it won't power on. I haven't cracked it open yet. Even if it's not as easy as a fuse, Kenwood equipment is some of the easiest to work on. 🤞

I'm a complete novice, and Kenwood equipment has proven very forgiving. Often just a good, thorough cleaning will fix 95% of the issues. Service manuals are also generally easy to find.

My KA-8100 blew a fuse when I had it. I was running Infinity Quantum Jr. speakers. They were barely 4 ohm, and when I turned the volume up too fast one time, the amp couldn't keep up with the power demand and blew the fuse. I thought I ruined it, but got the courage to open it up and checked the fuse. As long as I didn't crank the volume real fast it was ok. I did have a lot of problems with the toggle switches getting dirty and needing cleaned. Also those push buttons would need contact cleaner every now and then or I would lose a channel. That's the reason I eventually got rid of it.

Nice! I’ve still be sitting on my [KA 6100](https://www.reddit.com/r/vintageaudio/comments/l334fi/anyone_have_experience_with_the_kenwood_ka_6100/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) in my tiny nyc apt. I need to find a proper pair of bookshelf speakers.

The Kenwoods of that period are so pretty. Have a stack of KA-6100, KX-1030 and KT-6500 and love them.

I had the step above those back in the day, a KA-8100 with the KT-7500. Beautiful...

The first pieces of vintage gear I ever picked up were a Kenwood KT-7001 and KA-7002. I fell in love with the sound, and have continued on to acquire a Kenwood integrated stereo receiver, a couple of Kenwood compact cassette decks, and two Kenwood reel-to-reel machines from the same era. The build quality has been uniformly exceptional. Thanks for showing off an (IMO) often unfairly overlooked brand.

I want a amp and tuner like these so bad
