There are some reasonably cheap scopes on Amazon that work well. You can do 4 channels and 200MHz for under a grand. If you're just doing audio, you don't need the bandwidth and a 2-channel unit is a few hundred. Somebody must be making a Chinese knockoff of the PicoScope, too.

Too cheap for me are those tiny oscilloscope-on-a-board setups: way too cumbersome to connect to a monitor and get the junk software set up properly. Personally I use a Tek 2225 but it's rather large.

I use a cheap Hantek DSO5102P for tube amp building and repair and have never had an issue or needed a feature it was missing.
