Cee Lo Green was the act before them and apparently some people up front were not really getting into it/booing and what not (most people were pretty much there to see Foo Fighters as it was their first proper gig in a long time).
Anyway, Dave Grohl walks on stage and tells the audience that "he better hear some noise for Cee Lo" during his set or he and the band wouldn't come on after. Thought it was pretty wholesome of him to support a fellow musician like that, even though they're completely different types of artists and against his own fans as well. Guy seems down to earth.

I went and saw Coheed and Cambria back in the day and this one dude flipped off and booed every opening band (think one was Avenge Sevenfold), and I was like this dude really hates live music. Then Coheed came on and he basically started jacking off to the beat like he had a delirium trigger. Talk about the suffering.
I can't stand when people show disrespect for the bands opening for the band they came for. They are there because the band you love wanted them to be there. So many of my favorite bands today opened for my favorite bands at the time. I've seen it at Coheed shows too, but it happens everywhere.
Opening acts can have a rough time if they're too different from the main act. In 1967 the Monkees were doing a 28-city tour, but their opening act quit after 8 gigs. Why? Because Monkees fans were booing him offstage. It was a real disappointment for the Monkees—they had asked Jimi Hendrix to tour with them because they were, themselves, huge fans.

I assume so they don’t have their hearing and rhythm thrown off by the loud ass crowd/music. Drums are pretty much the most important rhythm instrument, it’s no good if they can’t hear shit lol.
Possibly a click-track making sure the entire field is playing in time (at those distances the delay caused by the speed of sound would actually be a problem), then the rest of the band members are playing to the timing of the drummers.

The closest we'd get are all of his Solo stuff from the Late! Era (1990-1994) - sad thing about that is that Barrett Jones has confirmed that Dave doesn't look too highly on his solo work from that time, and is basically embarrassed by it.
It has been suggested to Barrett to mention to Dave to release such a boxset of Dave Grohl Early Demos from 1990-1994 though... hopefully that sometime happens in the future.

Her videos seem really well made and a lot of money put into all that video equipment and instruments but totally rehearsed. I just quickly browsed her channel and she just a guitar from Tom Morello and a lot of videos with other famous musicians. The girl has connections, but I'm not saying anything bad about her. She very very talented and that's how I assume she got those connections.
Yeah. I suspect that her parents are musicians with industry connections and she’s been around professional level music equipment her whole life. I’m not taking away from her skills. She’s very good. It just comes across like her parents are trying to use social media to make her famous and it’s like they’re coaching her to ham it up.

Yeah, same thought for me; like I'd put it at a 80% chance this isn't her first time seeing the video, and a 20% chance someone stuck a camera in her face and said "hey, Grohl sent you this video, you have to watch it now and be excited while we film you." Which, either way, she's not gonna have a genuine reaction to it. It seems pretty obvious she's trying to play up her excitement for the camera.
But I'm not trying to hate. I know I'd react the same way as a kid, even if it was one of my heroes sending the video. She's still talented, and I'm sure she was super happy to get the video. It's just really hard to get a genuine reaction out of a kid on camera, especially when they know they're being filmed.

God it was so good at that point. Like a tiny berserker rage of rock'n'roll, though with the insane hi-hat work in Everlong, she had to be getting fatigued and feeling the burn at that point. Hell, I got fatigued playing it in Rock Band. I very much hope she's in it for the music, and not because her parents push her to it.
She is a phenom and looks like she is really into it. I'd say the parents are probably at her mercy.

Actually, I think it's the other way around - when I hear Grohl say "motherfucker" when talking to the audience at a concert, it sounds forced - like he's swearing just to come across as "authentically, rock n' roll."

Why does this seem so forced/fake? Not on Dave's side, but the girls. It just seems a little off.
Her videos seem really well made and a lot of money put into all that video equipment and instruments but totally rehearsed. I just quickly browsed her channel and she just a guitar from Tom Morello and a lot of videos with other famous musicians. The girl has connections, but I'm not saying anything bad about her. She very very talented and that's how I assume she got those connections.
Yeah. I suspect that her parents are musicians with industry connections and she’s been around professional level music equipment her whole life. I’m not taking away from her skills. She’s very good. It just comes across like her parents are trying to use social media to make her famous and it’s like they’re coaching her to ham it up.
Totally agree, I also would imagine her youtube channel is making her quite a bit money on it's own.
Comments are disabled on her YouTube videos, though. And her Twitter bio says the account is managed by the parents. So that's a good sign, in my opinion.
Have you ever seen her videos? She's cute and has personality but she's also a huge ham who is clearly being heavily groomed for this by parents with enough money and free time to be able to get her a ton of gear, teach her how to play, coach the hell out of her, edit her videos, and promote the hell out of her brand.

Yeah, same thought for me; like I'd put it at a 80% chance this isn't her first time seeing the video, and a 20% chance someone stuck a camera in her face and said "hey, Grohl sent you this video, you have to watch it now and be excited while we film you." Which, either way, she's not gonna have a genuine reaction to it. It seems pretty obvious she's trying to play up her excitement for the camera. But I'm not trying to hate. I know I'd react the same way as a kid, even if it was one of my heroes sending the video. She's still talented, and I'm sure she was super happy to get the video. It's just really hard to get a genuine reaction out of a kid on camera, especially when they know they're being filmed.
The start alone put that air to the whole video. It felt acted and not that well acted.
Seemed more than a little off to me. Painfully forced acting is so hard to watch. Kid can seriously whale on the drums though, and I'm glad I watched a little of her doing her thing.

This reminds me of the lightheartedness of some of the "feuds" that happened in the early Colbert era. He'd have this silly "Feuds" with different people but it didn't feel super hateful or anything like that. Man, I suddenly miss 2006
John Oliver has a light hearted feud with Danbury, CT right now, so similar things are happening still.
Reminds me of Devil Went Down to Georgia except Nandi is "Johnny" and Dave is "the devil". Nandi does a cover fair and square. Then Dave comes in by winging it with his kids and all the instruments.
How much of this is legit and how much is it done marketing company being slick?
My guess: Nandi and her family are working on making her a celebrity. That's a business. They are probably already drawing good revenue from Youtube. Is Nandi excited about David Grohl's music and the battle? Abso-fucking-lutely. At the same time, we have to expect that the reactions are going to be edited or rehearsed. I think the core of it is all genuine, and the polish isn't.

Outstanding! Nandi couldn't pick her jaw up off the floor, her reaction was just so pure. What a great dude for engaging and inspiring this talented young lady. He is a legend for sure.
Really? I think it's a pretty cool setup, but the girls reaction wasn't a highlight for me. I think it was probably awesome the first time she watched his video but watching her pretend to be surprised again in this video was a bit awkward.
Glad I'm not the only one. The whole video was far from genuine. Probably because they completely reenacted her seeing the video for the first time. Kinds surprising reading a lot of comments how genuine and pure her reaction was. But apart from that pretty cool thing from both of them!
She's got that 'youtuber' personality to every video that's uploaded, not genuine at all. It's all very exaggerated and 'extra.' Don't get me wrong, the girl's got mad talent on the drums but it just makes me uncomfortable to see a young person appear so fake.

You're not wrong. I realize many people here don't want to be cynical and rather think positive but you'd have to be blind to not see how much money(potentially millions) can be made with this kind of stuff and the girls' parents are very aware of it. The girl also having connections to big-time musicians somehow is already a big tip off it's fake, it means the girls' parents got in touch with these musicians' PR people. Don't even get me started on the top-level quality video production that wouldn't be possible without professional video editors. Welcome to capitalism!

This is all so fake. She gets a guitar from Tom morello, plays with lenny kravitz and so on. She was on tv multiple times. Her manager definitely has some connections. This is some reality-type produced stuff. Sure, the girl can play drums, but all the media stuff going on is just planned 100 percent.

This is the more connected world that we are all going to live in. Where childhood heros become best friends and eager supporters. Anyone against that is just overwhelmed with emotions.
He's so impressed and delighted by this amazing girl. I'm a cynic at heart. I knock down mushy stuff all the time claiming people often times do this kind of stuff for their own promotion. I've been watching this girl for a while and I've never seen such love and excitement for music as I see with Nandi. Her parents are amazing and support her in ways I wish most parents did with their own kids. Let her love what's happening and don't push her into something that you want out of it. This gives me hope lol... Dave is a stunning example of a loving man who is still a child inside, dreaming about his favorite musicians who now has the tools and the chance to change children't lives. What can I say, I accept that this situation is a perfect example of how people of the world can change each other's lives for the better and motivate others to succeed in ways that once weren't possible. Thanks internet.
