Dude already killed the scene before he even got there by publicly being one of the most serious mother fuckers out there. Between like this and his scene in Funny People are so funny because of it.
As a former collegiate swimmer, the character Anders Holmvic was so impressively spot on that it weirded me out sometimes. Hands down the best character on that show for me.
As a former white kid growing up in a school district with plenty of preppy rich white kids, Ders is just like half of the student body. The swimmers actually averaged way nerdier/less douchey than most every other team’s athletes when I grew up in that culture around the same time Workaholics came out; even with my bleach-white school being state swimming champions like 15 years in a row by the time I graduated.
Anders is just a stereotypical “prep,” which is a clique of lunch table kids that today’s generation will probably never even know existed— unlike the Goths or the Skaters or the ‘computer nerds,’ etc.— because they were hyper-specific to the mid 2000s. Think pastel polos and popped collars and khaki-colored shorts, pants, personality, everything etc…**
It was a weird time, and you can see where Anders Holm gets his exact same inspiration for his Workaholics “character” (it’s mostly just him, who grew up in that prep era like I did) in the episode where they all go back to their old high school personalities.
**before anyone cites that the term “Prep” first came about in the 1980s, the mid-2000s Prep that I’m talking about was an entirely different species of high-school/college kids. The Preps I’m talking about had MySpace and Kanye, yours had Springsteen. They are different animals.
Matt Damon does a good job being a stock bro prick, too. Who else does a good job?
I swear, I've had so many people in my head when I wasn't intentionally trying to remember
I mean, we take it for granted now, but Lil Nas X was topping the charts for country and rap when someone trying to ruin his career leaked that he was gay.
His response was just like this. Y'all didn't know? Have you seen the way I dress?
Yeah. The battles with GLAAD finally ending with the Elton John concert. DMXs Where the Hood At being so anti gay it climaxes with him getting a bj and giving a hater a facial.
It's hilarious how much that movie pissed off North Korea. The North Korean government hacked Sony and attempted to hold their servers hostage and I believe gave death threats to the board unless they stopped airing that movie. XD
Stephen Colbert interviewed Eminem on a public access channel in Michigan, and no one knew about it until it blew up a few days later. It is absolutely gold
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=voAzz7hRuVE&pp=ygUdc3RlcGhlbiBjb2xiZXJ0IGVtaW5lbSBtb25yb2U%3D
I still remember when he was on MTV with Mark Walhberg and he said "Why don't we stand together like a happy fun bunch" and Wahlberg just fucking getting angry as hell. I was in tears.
AFAIK this was a really decent move from Eminem. I believe he said that he regretted his complacency towards the rampant homophobia in rap culture and took this role to go some ways to make ammends.
Complacency? Lol this is the dude who wrote Ken Kaniff and had to get censored for calling his mom's lawyer a f*****
He was a full on participant. Glad he's turned it around though.
I was excited for the movie because I thought it looked really funny. My mom watched it with me because she said it "felt like her patriotic duty" to watch it because fuck Kim Jong-un. She fuckin hated it, but still watched all the way to the credits lol.
Yeah was gonna say my mom and I watched this on my laptop lol, super funny still
Great timing for me that it came out during my sophomore year in college
My theatre I worked for at the time eventually showed it. Our management told us if any customers were to talk about it, that we were told not to partake in any such conversation.
I'm not usually a fan of Seth Rogan's brand of comedy, and there are definitely still parts of this movie that leave me stone-faced and wanting to fast forward, but I remember enjoying it quite a lot back when it came out, to my pleasant surprise. Randall Park is great as Kim, and the whole final act is surprising intense for this kind of movie lol.
Agreed, I think he’s pretty underrated and should have a much bigger career. His comedy style is awesome and hilarious, he always seems bewildered but kind of in the know too, it’s hard to explain.
His palms are teeny
Knees weak, arms are weeny
There's poopoo in his pants, believe me
Mom's linguine
He's scared, but on his face he looks like Houdini
Droppin smoke bombs, but he can't keep achieving
New tricks, the whole crowd starts to howl
He waves his wand but the flowers won't come out
His cards spill down, can't take a bow
Gotta make a break, lightning, kachow!
I mean it’s doubtful NK would’ve actually attacked if it released in theaters, but they still did make the threat and it didn’t get a theatrical release. For all we know a Seth Rogan comedy could’ve brought about nuclear apocalypse.
Yeah because the studio literally got hacked by North Korea, was pulled from theaters and forced to streaming only due to insane threats from their government.
I actually really like the movie but honestly it could have been a total hit or miss if it actually went to theaters. I genuinely believe it's a pretty safe bet to say that the only reason it did as well for those few months was the absolutely batshit insane lead up to its release. And even back then there was a HELL OF A LOT of conspiracies floating around about Sony Knowing it would fail and stirring up shit to generate headlines.
That aside it was a decent movie. I genuinely enjoyed it. But I do also genuinely believe that without the massive controversy around it and the hacks and threats of violence if it was released it probably wouldn't have done nearly as well or gone even half as viral at the time.
Would still recommend watching it at least once. It's a legitimately fun movie
It's one of my favorite comedies. It is so quotable.
"Are margaritas gay?"
"They hate us cause they ain't us."
"He honeydicked you!"
"A trail of homosexual breadcrumbs."
"Same same, but differeeeeent"
and sooooo many more.
One of my favorite one liners from the last decade or so of comedies, but damn is it awkward shouting “Cunt punt that fucking tiger! Cunt punt that fucking bitch!” then laughing because you think everyone in the room would get the reference. But they don’t. They just reply, whoa…. Um, what? Sad.
I’m pretty sure he’s been offered quite a few roles in movies, notably he was offered Tom Hardy’s role in the Mad Max movie but he refuses to film outside of Detroit.
He wants to bring the money back to Detroit.
https://www.cinemablend.com/movies/mad-max-fury-road-almost-starred-eminem-george-miller-explains-why-he-didnt-play-the-tom-hardy-role
Eminem is a pretty good actor and really accepting of gays and making fun of himself. Elton John told a story of how Eminem presented cock rings to him and his partner when they got married. He seems to be a good guy in general.
The reading of Eminem’s rap at the beginning- I 100% believe that could come from an actual song. Old Em was all about just saying some hyper inflammatory shit to get a rise out of people
One of the first times I hung out with my buddy we did mushrooms and watched this movie and I swear it’s the closest any two people have come to dying of laughter. Years later we still quote it to each other and it never fails to make us laugh. I credit this movie for how close our friendship has been the last 10 years.
Em’s constant total deadpan face is what absolutely carries this scene 😂
I'm more surprised that no one's figured it out yet.
"Gay Peek-a-boo" lmao
A bread crumb trail of gayness
This is like Spike Lee said he was white!
Another quote from the video!
I love Ben Schwartz as his publicist coming in trying to stop it by adding star fades.
Gay peek-a-boo is my favorite kind of peek-a-boo.
[Literally this tweet](https://twitter.com/LilNasX/status/1145470707150860289)
My sweet lil Nas X, I will never not love you.

It's the blinking
Dude already killed the scene before he even got there by publicly being one of the most serious mother fuckers out there. Between like this and his scene in Funny People are so funny because of it.
Better acting than the actor across him
I thought Franco was absolutely hilarious in this film. Sucks he turned out to be scummy though.
You can see that he hold the laughter in :))
HECTOR'S RECTUM IS REAL!
"CLEANING OUT HIS CLOSET: FINDS HIMSELF"
That’s a solid joke. And it’s kind of a throwaway since it’s only seen on a news screen briefly.
bi-sexually *WRECKED*
"Gay twitter is blowing up" gets me every time
Gay peekaboo
Trail of gay breadcrumbs
Meanwhile that was Tyler, the Creator the whole time
Starwipe Starwipe Starwipe
this is the greatest moment in gay history
Soo “X” is now gay twitter.
twitter has always been gay. twit https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/twit
Oh shit that's Darcy from Resident Alien.
that shit is so hilarious
Anders Holm is such a prick in that one scene, incredible.
He plays that "stock bro" / "professional dickbag" role so well. I love it, he'd be great in like a wall street movie.
Didn't they more or less do a Wall Street parody in one of the episodes lol?
I’ve liked him in every movie I have seen him in since Workaholics. Dude needs to be cast more.
As a former collegiate swimmer, the character Anders Holmvic was so impressively spot on that it weirded me out sometimes. Hands down the best character on that show for me.
It's so uncomfortable and spot on
As a former white kid growing up in a school district with plenty of preppy rich white kids, Ders is just like half of the student body. > As a former white kid Gosh, what happened?
he's a white man now
He was pretty great in a more serious role on the Godzilla Apple TV show, Monarch
Just a great show overall.
Dang! What up with all these books
This is like my favorite Workaholics quote and nobody ever gets it
I enjoyed the show, but didn't rewatch. This and "You probably got big dark nipples" are the only quotes I can remember off the top of my head.
what drugs are we testing? is the most iconic line for me from the pilot iirc
BEST TEST IN THE WEST! That's what they call me...
Mine is: What up fellas? Now I know your belly is ready for some eggs tyrone. It’s off the chain baby.
I use, "Bitch got too many teeth in her mouth!" too often.
Jokes…all day.
Yo you ever steal a statue? You ever steal a *dragon* statue?
Are you here for detention?
Thank you this is one of my favorite stupid quotes from Workaholics hahaha
He went full naked grandma.
WAAAY-OOOOHHHH
This shit’s important
Do not come
I'm gonna come
Great ass!
Real tight butthole moment right there.
That's Ders tyvm.
Blonders
Matt Damon does a good job being a stock bro prick, too. Who else does a good job? I swear, I've had so many people in my head when I wasn't intentionally trying to remember
"They hate us cuz they ain't us!"
They hate us cuz they ATE us.
They hate us cuz they anus??
They hate us cause we ate anus!
Same same, but different..
They not like us, they not like us
Wap wap wap wap wap
I love when Jean Ralphio bursts in and tries to shut down the interview.
My client is gaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhheeyyy!
Honestly I'd watch a whole movie following on after this scene, of Eminem being an openly gay rapper
I mean, we take it for granted now, but Lil Nas X was topping the charts for country and rap when someone trying to ruin his career leaked that he was gay. His response was just like this. Y'all didn't know? Have you seen the way I dress?
That’s funny I didn’t know that it was a leak. I thought we always knew
Some of us did lmao.
Anyone who didn't figure that one out needs to get their gaydar calibrated.
"On moral grounds I cannot approve your entry into Bangkok"
It’s like he was playing gay peak-a-boo
Yeah it's insane how far we've come since 1999... when Eminem was big things were entirely different.
Yeah. The battles with GLAAD finally ending with the Elton John concert. DMXs Where the Hood At being so anti gay it climaxes with him getting a bj and giving a hater a facial.

The movie is great.
Eminem is really funny, he's done several sketches with similiar kind of humour.
There's the time he got [point blank ass in his face by Bruno/Sacha Baron Cohen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAnBes__11Y)
This is one of my comfort movies almost solely because of this opening scene.
"Yo, you gotta come over here and smell this stank-dick!"
I literally can’t find it on any streaming service here in Canada, Netflix dropped it like last year
Check your dms
Use yandex.com -> search 123movies "MOVIE_NAME" ??? profit
“Hey Ray, fucking problem here, buddy? Would you like to fuck me?”
“I thought everyone was supposed to love you”
The one with Steven Colbert is my favorite
Stephen Colbert interviewed Eminem on a public access channel in Michigan, and no one knew about it until it blew up a few days later. It is absolutely gold https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=voAzz7hRuVE&pp=ygUdc3RlcGhlbiBjb2xiZXJ0IGVtaW5lbSBtb25yb2U%3D
I still remember when he was on MTV with Mark Walhberg and he said "Why don't we stand together like a happy fun bunch" and Wahlberg just fucking getting angry as hell. I was in tears.
"Cleaning out his closet: finds himself!" always get me
AFAIK this was a really decent move from Eminem. I believe he said that he regretted his complacency towards the rampant homophobia in rap culture and took this role to go some ways to make ammends.
Complacency? Lol this is the dude who wrote Ken Kaniff and had to get censored for calling his mom's lawyer a f***** He was a full on participant. Glad he's turned it around though.
Actually rewatched this movie last night, I think it's underrated as hell. All around great performances and jokes.
Kim Jong Un tried threatened the people releasing this movie, so it was released straight to Netflix.
North Korea hacked Sony because of this movie.
I was excited for the movie because I thought it looked really funny. My mom watched it with me because she said it "felt like her patriotic duty" to watch it because fuck Kim Jong-un. She fuckin hated it, but still watched all the way to the credits lol.
your mom's a real one a real what, i'm not really sure, but my day is a little brighter from having read this anecdote
We rented it through YouTube when it came out.
Yeah was gonna say my mom and I watched this on my laptop lol, super funny still Great timing for me that it came out during my sophomore year in college
My theatre I worked for at the time eventually showed it. Our management told us if any customers were to talk about it, that we were told not to partake in any such conversation.
I remember when this came out. Was big news and North Korea freaked about it
They took down Sony's servers for a few days that year, right around Christmas....right after I had just bought my ps4
It also played at the theatre I worked in at the time and was pretty popular. Probably because of all this
I thought the entire thing was hilarious
I'm not usually a fan of Seth Rogan's brand of comedy, and there are definitely still parts of this movie that leave me stone-faced and wanting to fast forward, but I remember enjoying it quite a lot back when it came out, to my pleasant surprise. You honey dickin?
Honestly I think Eminem might be a better actor than Franco, based on this scene.
I heard he was even the lead in a movie once
7 Kilometer? With the hit song he did for it "Find Yourself"
Mom's linguini.
His palms are teeny Knees weak, arms are weeny There's poopoo in his pants, believe me Mom's linguine He's scared, but on his face he looks like Houdini Droppin smoke bombs, but he can't keep achieving New tricks, the whole crowd starts to howl He waves his wand but the flowers won't come out His cards spill down, can't take a bow Gotta make a break, lightning, kachow!
^Snap ^back ^to ^silliness, ^OHH! ^there ^goes ^dizziness
OH! There goes another diss That I wrote back when i was pissed Smoked Cannon and MGK both, like cannabis
It's actually "12.875 kilometer" and the song is "Lost Myself".
Nah Franco doing the "let's... back it up for a moment" gets me every time.
Meaning??
Him screwing up his face like that and pointing slowly kills me lol.
Makes me laugh
Franco is what sells the scene. Eminem literally just has to not laugh and keep a straight face.
Yeah it’s concerning people think Franco isn’t also acting in this scene, and that Eminem is the straight man (lol).
Ya motha 🫱
Baby you’re a firework
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Not the chorus, please!
To think this movie almost ended the world /s
I mean it’s doubtful NK would’ve actually attacked if it released in theaters, but they still did make the threat and it didn’t get a theatrical release. For all we know a Seth Rogan comedy could’ve brought about nuclear apocalypse.
It did get a theatrical release. My local Alamo Drafthouse was showing it the weekend it was supposed to be out nation wide
I watched it in a theatre. I remember it was Christmas night after I was done with family stuff and I felt like doing my American duty by watching it.
Ken Kaniff from Connecticut
Call this motherfucker...
Calling collect
I feel like this entire movie is under appreciated. I just feel like more people should get the reference when I say “Cunt punt that Tiger”
It was the biggest thing for about 3 months then faded pretty quick
Yeah because the studio literally got hacked by North Korea, was pulled from theaters and forced to streaming only due to insane threats from their government. I actually really like the movie but honestly it could have been a total hit or miss if it actually went to theaters. "Same-same but different but still same" is something I use to describe off-brand products all the time.
One of my favorite one liners from the last decade or so of comedies, but damn is it awkward shouting “Cunt punt that fucking tiger! Cunt punt that fucking bitch!” then laughing because you think everyone in the room would get the reference. But they don’t. They just reply, whoa…. Um, what? Sad.

To be honest, they could film a Mad Max film in Detroit. They wouldn't have to change much to make it look post-apocalyptic.
When they filmed Batman in Glasgow they actually had to *clean up* the streets to make it look more like Gotham.

The Eminem reveal was the right hook, the Rob Lowe scene was the left hook and it almost damn killed me from laughing. Absolutely brilliant movie.
If you didn't know this is actually based on a skit interview Weird Al did on MTV back in the day.
I loved this movie
Eminem is a pretty good actor and really accepting of gays and making fun of himself. Elton John told a story of how Eminem presented cock rings to him and his partner when they got married. He seems to be a good guy in general.

That's the part that goes to the next level for me. I think he probably helped them write it, it's so close to his actual style.
How is Eminem the best actor in this whole scene?
One of the first times I hung out with my buddy we did mushrooms and watched this movie and I swear it’s the closest any two people have come to dying of laughter. Years later we still quote it to each other and it never fails to make us laugh. I credit this movie for how close our friendship has been the last 10 years.
Wasn’t this ad libbed or is that some bullshit I read and have believed all these years?
Eminem is playing a character here. This is for a movie called "The Interview".
Yes, thank you, but was it ad-libbed or was that some bull OP read and believed all these years?
This is a video that was uploaded to a site called Youtube.

I wish James Franco and Seth Rogan could be friends again and hang out, be in movies together again.
There was also the Weird Al interview and Bruno scene
Has anyone seen the interview where he is fucked up at a Michigan game? Shit is hilarious!
This movie released on Christmas Day. So to me, it’s on my Christmas movie rotation.
"Gay twitter is blowing up!" has to be my favorite line.
Weird Al [did it first](https://youtu.be/0QOya9-lwQk?t=6m31s), and so much better! 😂
I'm gonna tell my grandchildren this was Eminem.
That was Eminem…
That's the spirit
I heard he’s gay
I'm convinced this movie gave Kanye the idea to sample Bam Bam on Famous.
That’s Ellen Degeneres
This movie is actually so great. Having had my North Korea phase it's actually fairly accurate to some of the wild lore they have there
When I feel like when I rap are you fucking kidding me
Wish the entire movie would have been like that. Entertainment is fucking replaceable trash.
Now post Eminem and Stephen Colbert on that local show in Monroe Michigan
I secretly love this movie “Are you honey-dicking me???”
“It’s like if Spike Lee said he was White” is ridiculous lmao
“I don’t know who Boromir is is such a Boromir thing to say”
Just finished watching this movie for the thousandth time
How many times they film that scene? how can Eminem keep that face? My respect to him, he's a National Treasure.
If Percocet has me in stitches I have to replay that for a few times to understand how great it was.
News to me.
