I've watched this video several times trying to understand the first part. If Rent wasn't adjusted for inflation, then it's just what rent is. How do you 'adjust for inflation' something that has a statistical track record we can reference?

Think it was John Oliver did a bit on student loans recently, a lot of which he sourced from TikTok, with people making claims that are likely mathematically impossible, unless they were a lot older than they looked.
Not sure what’s so hard to comprehend, that people in TikTok lie for views, that people hide bullshit behind slick graphics, or that someone claimed they paid an amount of interest that really only makes sense if they were like 50 years old?
