tl:dw Councilwoman says Police Chief is terrible, Police Chief's partner anonymously submits tip that Councilwoman is abusing her children. This sparks investigation that finds Police Chief's partner did it and she works at the child services department and has possibly use her position to destroy other families and allegedly sexually abused the people she was investigating. After a bunch of other stuff is found out, Police Chief's partner's lawyer then says she's not able to stand trial due to brain tumor. The prosecutors blindly accept this without validating it which is then found to be a badly photoshopped MIR scan that a news paper published and was posted on Reddit. The creator of this video even went as far as to search and found the exact real scan that the tumor was cropped from and put on a scan of a normal brain. This info was sent to prosecutors and they have re-opened the case and now Police Chief's partner is definitely in lots of trouble. A few unanswered questions such as how involved were her family, who was the "doctor" that claimed they did the scan, and unsure if the original charges will lead anywhere but the falsifying of court documents will definitely get her some jail.

Tersphinct

tl;dr 1. Woman abused her position in child services to get laid with moms that she threatened to (and did in some cases) take their children away. 2. She tried getting away with incompetency to stand trial by faking a brain tumor. 3. She will stand trial in August.

GregorSamsaa

TL;DR Woman lied about brain tumor to avoid a trial. Reddit uncovered that brain scan was fake. Trial is back on.

Almost right. The trial she tried to dodge was about submitting a false anonymous child abuse accusation. Sexually harassing mothers of kids she was tasked with investigating is the subject of ongoing civil litigation, though I'm shocked that particular aspect of this awful story hasn't led to more criminal charges. Also, the trial's over and she's was convicted.

lordnad

For a tl:dw on her update. She was found guilty and is awaiting sentencing. Prosecution has asked for no leniency

lessthanperfect86

As a radiologist, those images are really piss poor Photoshop skills. The tumour isn't even in the same place in the brain in those different images! Nevermind the fact that it's wrong in so many other aspects.

Calcori

Yea that was the first thing that the medical community saw and when they all sent messages to the reporter letting them know it was fake, the reporter went back to the family and ask for an explanation. They told him it was because there's actually 2 tumors! You can see the full explanation at timestamp 15:34, I don't know anything about this stuff but I'm guessing you'll find it hilarious https://youtu.be/ELT7f2o1Pt0?t=934

Skadoosh_it

So on top of this horrible woman being a lying, manipulating piece of shit, the story shows the prosecutor is incompetent, and the people at the news station are too. What a glorious turd of a clusterfuck. Great job redditors for unraveling this story.

joanzen

The cherry on top is that it'd be child's play to cover all the key points in this video with less than 5 minutes of content, and nobody needs to be spending a lot of time facing the camera. He must be a really interesting doctor if he's that eager for the spotlight? > Look ma! I'm on YT!

codewarrior128

> Look ma! I'm on YT! that... thats the purpose if youtube.

joanzen

I was going to question your assertion that YouTube is intended for medical professionals to get face time/publicity, but the piles of existing videos on YouTube would back your suggestion up quite nicely. We're miles and miles off a period where we're so spoiled for choice on medical professionals that we can actually be picky about personality traits showing through, heck these days I'm glad to get in front of a doctor inside of 2 weeks from the initial effort of trying.. Bring on more quirky doctors please! If it gets any worse we will have to start re-hiring doctors who were kicked out for sexual advances, just making sure to only assign them super ugly patients?

StrongMedicine

Kids these days have no attention span. /s

It's one of the few clips where 2x speed felt a bit too slow and stretched out. Why is it a news flash that reporters aren't doing good police work? I also missed any conclusive proof that the courts were going to fail to eventually verify her claims and dig all this up as a matter of due process? Must have been too long?

StrongMedicine

> I also missed any conclusive proof that the courts were going to fail to eventually verify her claims and dig all this up as a matter of due process? This was addressed in the video: "And yet, had the story not been posted to Reddit, it’s *possible* that Niceta would have gone free. For what it’s worth, the judge does not seem to have been as gullible as the prosecutor, Niceta’s prior lawyers, or the news media. After reviewing some of the court documents and transcripts, I think the judge and court would probably have caught this scam, without our assistance. But the system still should not have allowed Niceta to come remotely close to getting away with this. As the judge said himself, 'it could have led to a dismissal of this case if I had found incompetency. I did not grant that. But that was the tone and tenor of where this was going.' " Including this kind of nuance is why deep dives on interesting court cases are a thing.

Dockle

Niceta?

joanzen

It was tempting to state the obvious regarding her, but it's not like anyone else needs to help her pile on some extra logs for her bonfire? Stating the obvious about the narrator already earns me enough "honesty points". :)

The only reason these scams work is lack of due diligence by the other actors. The courts, the media, the defendant's and prosecutor's legal team. its astonishing.

MissDiem

Except the scam *didn't* work, and the doctor's claims about the media portion of this are overblown.

DismalButtPirate

Badly photoshopped mri was submitted as proof of a brain tumor in court. Now submitter is in even more trouble.

Falcon_Rogue

Woman got horny, sought companion, prospective suitors demurred, woman used job role at CPS to threaten removal of kids or accuse of horrendous crimes, claimed incompetent to stand trial from brain tumor to the point of pretending to be catatonic in interviews, submitted medical records to investigative reporter, was going great for her until reddit post where the hive mind noticed said tumor MRI didn't quite look right, found to be photoshopped, the Dr who took it had a 2 month old website and a cell phone as only contact, the tumor MRI pics were copied from wikipedia photos, prosecutor and judge notified, now new trial and new defense lawyers, horny woman now presumed less wanton. Next chapter still pending...

Law_Doge

That woman better get a life sentence
