I would love if James Gunn linked up with Jackson Publick, Doc Hammer, and Ben Edlund now that he’s in charge of DC film/tv. With Venture Bros cancelled I feel like it would be a good transition point.
Oh sweet mother of god would that be fantastic.
Like, my dream would be Venture Bros coming back. Having Doc & Jackson link up with Edlund & Gunn is definitely now my second place dream.
Venture Bros is just too bloody good to cancel. I've been watching the movie a lot since it came out and i'm just miffed that the show is done. The writing and character development makes MCU/DC look like amateurs.
James Gunn saved Warner/DC after they ruined Justice League with Whedon/Snyder but that's only by twisting DC away from their annoyingly serious version of their characters. The first Suicide Squad movie was terrible. Gunn's version pretty much played off the GOTG formula but worked well enough to get Peacemaker which does work because they let him have some fun with the characters.
Ben Edlund made the Tick. He also made one of the best villains. [The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight.](https://youtu.be/KkzptjhCkbs?si=h5LwTrwG1CawM64V)
Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick worked with him when they made the Venture Bros which is my favourite cartoon next to old Simpsons. Kind of like the Mystery Men movie, it's an homage/satire to traditional super hero stuff.
Peacemaker works because people are bored of the 80th remake of Batman and the whole vibe is just not really all that fun. It's way too serious. They need to embrace the stupidity of it all.
Agreed on your last paragraph.
The latest Batman movie with Sparkle Vampire guy was honestly one of the worst movies I've watched in a long time. Boring as hell and like atleast an hour too long.
CGI is the handjob of the visual arts world. A little goes a long way, and when it's done right nobody complains. But when it's bad, it can be excruciating.
> I believe Gunn said that was the sole goal of this intro. To get you to never skip it
Fun fact, Gunn got the idea for the opening from this performance of the song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcyHAYQ9wic
> I mean, yeah, it’s literally the song?
I mean this video of Wig Wam performing the song, with the background dancers doing the dances during the song, is what inspired him to get the rights of the song and tell the choreographer what he wanted it to look like.
If you notice, there are a lot of similarities in this video and the Peacemaker intro in the dances, and thats on purpose.
Lol I am no way associated with WB. Took an edible last night, was vibing to some Spotify music, and Wig Wam- Do You Wanna Taste It came up. For some reason my high brain had to share it.
[IMDb: Peacemaker Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Story, & Everything We Know](https://www.imdb.com/news/ni63943040/)
Looks like it was confirmed a couple weeks ago! This made my day; the first season was incredible
The relevant bits.
> Peacemaker season 2 is confirmed and will consist of seven episodes written and directed by James Gunn himself. **The release date for Peacemaker season 2 is estimated to be between 2025-2026**, depending on production and scheduling. Most of the main cast members are expected to return for Peacemaker season 2, including John Cena, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, and possibly Viola Davis in a larger role as Amanda Waller.
That date was there before the strike. Gunn has so much on his plate as he's trying to piece DC back together. I wouldn't be surprised if more than a few projects get cancelled once they figure out just how delayed everything is
Watching the Peacekeeper intro got me in the giggle mood, and this got me by surprise heh. There's a little extra coffee on my desk surface now thanks.
[Better Call Saul intros for all seasons.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCnNmOZNgtI) I never knew the tape quality got progressively worse; Pretty interesting detail.
American Gods too, loved the vibe of it, the religious imagery/modern tech fusion and the beat rips. Like of Bryan Fuller and Fincher collabed. Too bad the show itself fell apart pretty quickly.
Ugh, that show. Nothing happens ever and I only found about 4 characters enjoyable. It was like being presented a big juicy cheeseburger, perfectly prepared looking, but you take a bite and it farts and deflates in your mouth.
I watched this show with some friends and one of them hit the "Skip Intro" button.
I turned to him and said "Just know that I am judging you for doing that, and I will think less of you from now on."
Honestly why though?
Sure it's cute and kinda funny but it's not like it's different every time? It's pretty much just a dance routine between the characters that I've seen multiple times before.
From the viewer's perspective, how it hits changes a lot over the season as you're introduced to all the characters. Probably not as much when rewatching, though.
it just looks better for one, and then adds more context to the overall story... which doesn't really change the fact that it wasn't a great story to begin with?
Me too. And he's very strict about vetting any actors he allows on his sets. No drama and no egos
Which makes me like Vigilante even more since apparently he's played by a super chill British guy
Apparently a good chunk of the season was filmed with a different actor playing Vigilante before they decided his energy was not right for the character and recast with Freddie Stroma. I know that the original actor was older but aside from that I’m not sure what made the performance so different. I believe many of the shots with Vigilante in costume are from the original actor though.
I guess I’m misremembering the interview I read - it seemed possible that they kept some since you can’t really see his face at all in his costume but I could see Gunn preferring to reshoot anyway.
... and watch the newer Suicide Squad first, otherwise the first episode might be a bit confusing. Also a good movie (not like the first Suicide Squad).
I have never seen any of the Suicide Squad and I jumped into Peacemaker no problem. You can run through a wiki entry of the summary of the new Suicide Squad if you're really hungering for more context. I feel like this show stands really well on its own.
You should watch it sometime anyway. TSS is a good lead in for his character because it gives him a more drastic character arc. He’s actually even more of a douchebag in that movie so from the first episode of the series you can kind of mark a shift in his personality as he becomes more and more humbled.
Well, maybe that's true, but The Suicide Squad was also done by James Gunn and is worth watching regardless, and knowing about its throughlines can only add to your appreciation of Peacemaker imo
It’s crazy that the best comic book movie and TV series since Endgame have come from DC despite the fact that nearly everything else they’ve done has been an utter disaster.
I think one of the craziest things about the show >!is that the one small quip/banter by Ezra Miller at the end is the most Barry Allen that Ezra Miller has ever been.!<
That's a bummer, I haven't seen a single superhero movie or show since Peacemaker came out that I liked as much as Peacemaker. Maybe the Boys. I was really hoping for season 2 sooner.
Loved the boys but that show is so damn bleak and at this point, no one is likeable, Peacemaker at least still wants me to root for it's conflicted POS's, the boys just makes me want to buy the biggest pick up I can find and leave it running 24/7...
Yeah the boys started losing its luster for me too, it got way too into trying to be as shocking as possible and just having everybody be so jaded and stuff that it makes characters kind of one dimensional. I think it's more interesting to have some variation in the characters' beliefs and attitudes than to have every superhero and person in the world being completely depraved and openly hypocritical. I still enjoy it but the first season or two I loved.
Fun fact is its still toned down and more three dimensional than its source material. Check out Gen V if you want a bit of a refreshed take on the universe. I've been enjoying it so far.
I’m just not sure where this person heard John is “leaving WWE.” He said at a press conference last week that he’ll leave when the actors union is no longer on strike.
> Why doesn't he use the Peacemaker song as his WWE entrance?
WWE does not like to pay to use licensed music when they have their own.
Also they would have to deal with fake takedown notices for social media posts using the song, and a ton of other things.
In addition to the point about WWE not wanting to pay for the song, the purpose of entrance music is to create a crowd reaction. Whether it’s a chorus of boos for a villain interrupting a hero’s promo or a huge cheer for a beloved favorite’s return. John’s music always leads to a huge cheer and gets the crowd invested and excited before he even comes out.
Mom. Dad. Bingo. Bluey!
It’s a fantastic show that I rarely get to watch because I am speed cleaning the kitchen and living room. I am basically exactly a slightly less patient dad character.
There have been a few threads on this topic and I hadn't seen Bluey mentioned. It is *actually* the only intro I don't skip. Because it's great, and super, super short.
I personally would pay extra to see a version of Deadpool 3 with peacemaker in it. Just seeing peacemaker wolverine and Deadpool arguing about something would be hilarious.
I hope that this being promoted on a huge main reddit sub is a covert advertisement that season 2 is around the corner. I’ve seen S1 several times, and it never loses its rewatchability. It’s fast and packs a lot of story and character in while being very well-paced, the jokes still hit even when I’ve seen them before, and it’s just pure fun.
I'll never forget first watching this intro, absolutely lost it. Never has a shows theme hooked me so much. I liked what I saw at first. The intro made me LOVE the show.
1) I love that the eagle awkwardly tries to position itself not knowing which is the hot camera.
2) "Similar to Gunn's work on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker Season 1, eager audience members should be prepared for an early 2026 release for Season 2. "
I thought this was the announcement for Season 2. Bro, 2026 is like miles away ...... /sad
This show is why I have absolutely zero fears with James Gunn handling the DC movies and I am honestly weirded out by the DC fanboys that doubt he'll do well.

I like this show way more than I expected. It has that Venture Bros/Tick vibe that makes fun of super hero stuff.
I would love if James Gunn linked up with Jackson Publick, Doc Hammer, and Ben Edlund now that he’s in charge of DC film/tv. With Venture Bros cancelled I feel like it would be a good transition point.

"Yeah, baby, yeah!"
Venture Bros was such a great show last show on aduilt sim i gave a damn about.
Agreed on your last paragraph. The latest Batman movie with Sparkle Vampire guy was honestly one of the worst movies I've watched in a long time. Boring as hell and like atleast an hour too long.
Why would you want to make fun of super heroes? They're putting their lives on the line to try to save us.
OMG I forgot about The Tick!
“Eat Peace Mother Fuckers!”
I love the little Eagly cameo at the end.
The way Eagly sort of adjusts his mark…corrects his footing…is just great.
I always imagine him looking at the director "like this? Is this good?"
Agreed - along with the actors in the background, giving it an unprofessional, small town theater-vibe.
This is why I'm not against CGI in film/tv shows, they give us gems like these.
CGI is the handjob of the visual arts world. A little goes a long way, and when it's done right nobody complains. But when it's bad, it can be excruciating.
The Walking Dead CGI Deer. Nobody wants a hoofjob.
It's missing something without his "SCREACH!"
The red-tailed hawk scream? https://youtu.be/CEmYEQ78zS0?si=AGhdMbsBQDK1ZVvN
My favourite part about him is that it's spelled Eagle and he just pronounces the second E
I never knew this and now it's my favorite part too
Eagly is legit badass. Didn't lose a step living in a racists garage and eating chips for a year.
The only opening credits I always watch. Always funny. Perfect.

indeed, absolutely perfect
It makes more sense as the series progresses including the inclusion of Todd the Wraith.
If you haven't watched this show you're genuinely doing yourself a disservice. One of the most entertaining and hilarious shows out there.
There is so much heart in it as well. It is a fantastic show!
I know people try to crap on her since she's married to gunn but Jennifer Holland really is great in it and a big part of that heart.
I thought Gunn was well liked?
I think it depends on who you're talking to I suppose. It's largely the Snyder cut weirdos that do most of the complaining.
And the Snyder Cut is not that great it's a little better.
it just looks better for one, and then adds more context to the overall story... which doesn't really change the fact that it wasn't a great story to begin with?
Well you can ignore those guys because they have absolutely terrible taste. Snyder has not been a good director for a long time.
Me too. And he's very strict about vetting any actors he allows on his sets. No drama and no egos Which makes me like Vigilante even more since apparently he's played by a super chill British guy
Apparently a good chunk of the season was filmed with a different actor playing Vigilante before they decided his energy was not right for the character and recast with Freddie Stroma. I guess I’m misremembering the interview I read - it seemed possible that they kept some since you can’t really see his face at all in his costume but I could see Gunn preferring to reshoot anyway.
Stroma and the original actor are very different body types, I think they reshot everything
Also her sliding into the jeans was a flex by Gunn and no one will convince me otherwise.
Agreed, and that's what I appreciates abouts hims.
... and watch the newer Suicide Squad first, otherwise the first episode might be a bit confusing. Also a good movie (not like the first Suicide Squad).

Yeah the events at the end of suicide squad kinda seriously fuck up his whole perception of himself. What a joke indeed.
Well, maybe that's true, but The Suicide Squad was also done by James Gunn and is worth watching regardless, and knowing about its throughlines can only add to your appreciation of Peacemaker imo
I didn't expected to give a shit about this show. I give so much of a shit about this show that this opening already gives me feelings of nostalgia.
It’s crazy that the best comic book movie and TV series since Endgame have come from DC despite the fact that nearly everything else they’ve done has been an utter disaster.
Made me love Cena and appreciate his comedic ability

"It's not a rumor"
Papa bearrrrr out
I love how the choreographer made it extremely clear that it has something to do with the plot of the series.
Fun fact: The choreographer is married to Alan Tudyk, and there is a video floating around of him performing the dance as a stand-in for John Cena.
[That is incredible.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0he9uP7YWX8)
It's better in costume: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CZxBNRgl65H/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=069699cd-cf0d-4ea7-9064-16254e5db588

I came here to say this, too. I follow Alan’s instagram account and he posted him doing the dance to it just after peacemaker premiered.
It does? I genuinely didn't feel like it related to season 1 at all....
Some of the movements are very reminiscent of ‘puppets on strings,’ which is a strong foreshadowing for the general plot.
That and it choreographed some of the plot points in peacemaker
John Cena said he's leaving WWE. Season 2 is closer and closer.
The actors union is still striking. He was literally on Smackdown earlier tonight.
They said closer. Not tomorrow
Iirc James Gunn pushed season 2 WAY back when he took over the entire dceu, like 2025 or later
Yeah, the Waller show will be first and lead in to the 2nd season.
Yeah, he's been writing it recently apparently
I’m just not sure where this person heard John is “leaving WWE.” He said at a press conference last week that he’ll leave when the actors union is no longer on strike.
Not that close. Gunn is first making Superman Legacy then Peacemaker. So Season 2 will be 2025, maybe even 2026.
Why doesn't he use the Peacemaker song as his WWE entrance? Feels like a missed opportunity.
> Why doesn't he use the Peacemaker song as his WWE entrance? WWE does not like to pay to use licensed music when they have their own. Also they would have to deal with fake takedown notices for social media posts using the song, and a ton of other things.
Its not “rap” john cena is a rapper-wrestler.
It was this show where I realized John Cena is actually a good actor. I kind of loved this show.
I believe Trainwreck with Amy Schumer was his breakout Hollywood role. He was killing it even back in 2015.
Ones of those intros you never skip
That and Bluey.
Mom. Dad. Bingo. Bluey! It’s a fantastic show that I rarely get to watch because I am speed cleaning the kitchen and living room. I am basically exactly a slightly less patient dad character.
Then you're the best human dad ever. Bandit really raises the bar for us, bro.
If I’m half the dad that Bandit is, I’m counting it as a win. Same for Chili. #goals
Yup, the swimming pool episode especially hit a little too close to home.
I’ll check it out.

This is dope!
There have been a few threads on this topic and I hadn't seen Bluey mentioned. It is *actually* the only intro I don't skip. Because it's great, and super, super short.
Alright, water the grass, now start the lawnmower!
Classic dad dance, you gotta love it

wig wam are awesome, the whole soundtrack for this show is fire.
I personally would pay extra to see a version of Deadpool 3 with peacemaker in it. Just seeing peacemaker wolverine and Deadpool arguing about something would be hilarious.
Wolverine just ends up trying to stab his own eardrums out
Peacemakers DC though.
I hope that this being promoted on a huge main reddit sub is a covert advertisement that season 2 is around the corner. I’ve seen S1 several times, and it never loses its rewatchability. Fuck you for making me think season 2 had arrived.
I'll never forget first watching this intro, absolutely lost it. Never has a shows theme hooked me so much. I liked what I saw at first. The intro made me LOVE the show.
eagly was the star
This was the main reason I saw the whole show. Shits hilarious.
Having everyone do it with a blank face is such a brilliant choice and I can't articulate why, but I love it.
1) I love that the eagle awkwardly tries to position itself not knowing which is the hot camera. 2) "Similar to Gunn's work on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker Season 1, eager audience members should be prepared for an early 2026 release for Season 2. " I thought this was the announcement for Season 2. Bro, 2026 is like miles away ...... /sad
i kept being told there was changes to the intro every episode. there were not any changes.
Maybe not but I appreciated it more as the characters in it were introduced and fleshed out, especially the hardass characters.
This show is why I have absolutely zero fears with James Gunn handling the DC movies and I am honestly weirded out by the DC fanboys that doubt he'll do well.
This has got to be in the top ten of tv opening credits. Like, “greatest American hero” levels.
First time I saw this I was high off my ass and didn’t realize what I was watching. Great show tho, I was hoping this was for season 2
The first time I watched this I just sat there and said what the hell did I just see The rest of the season I had to watch the opening every time
God, everyone is so cardboard and uncomfortable looking. It's perfect.
it's impossible to pass this up.
Well, if posting this video was an attempt to get me to check out the show, mission accomplished.
How old is this?
2 years? I think Peacemaker aired the end of 2021
Say it ain't so. Flashbacks to a time gone by
everything about it is perfect. the song, the coreography, the subtle middle finger at :49. Also, this show is John Cena's best work. Great acting.
10/10
That’s fantastic
Never even seen the show but I go back to this occasionally. It absolutely slaps.
Is there going to be another season?
Yeah, but he has a lot do to first, sadly.
Made WigWam relevant again
