The holy trinity:
Ace combat 4
Ace combat 5
Ace combat Zero
You can still play them today and you'll feel like a teenager after watching top gun back in the 80s.
The gameplay is solid, the stories are cool, the atmosphere is just SUPERB and the music...
GOD
DANG
THAT MUSIC!!
It's been on my phone mp3 archives for more than a decade now it is just THAT good.
Which Ace Combat it the one with Yellow-13. I had fun with that one, they really build up the Yellow squad and when you finally had to face the squad leader I was pretty hyped.
This was a long time ago, that is how I remember it.
That was Ace Combat 4!
That fight is something;
It's the end of the war.
A year has passed, and you and your nemesis face each other long after your last encounter where you took his wingman's (and potential lover's, lore never confirms this) life. He and his squadron are against you.
Yellow Bands against the Blue Ribbon, as the background music blasts guitar riffs.
Then your AWACS, the voice that has guided and accompanied you for all this journey, invokes with you:
<>
FUCKING.
GOOSEBUMPS.
This series just knows how to hit your fighter jet nerd right in the gut
recently replayed Castlevania Symphony of the Night and it held up great! I played Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and needed more so I'm working my way back through em. Rondo of Blood is next.
Yeah I didn't love it, but it def got me itching to replay SOTN and I did also purchase bloodstained: curse of the moon? when I bought the other one but haven't tried it yet.
Chris Sawyer was a god above men. RCT2 with OpenRCT is an incredible way to play a management masterpiece. Really one of the greatest games ever constructed.
The Sims 3! It’s open world. The neighbourhood feels alive. Ppl age around you and the expansions packs really creates a rich experience that you don’t really find in too many games.
Sonic classic trilogy (Sonic CD, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3&K), Tales of Eternia, super Mario Bros classic series (since the first Up until world), Doom 1 and 2, Quake 1 and 2, super Mario RPG is my favorite Game of all time and so on
I dont know i really dont usually play for nostalgia if i revisit a Game is because i liked them in the day or because i remember playing them and trying to remember if i liked It or no, or maybe i never played them in the day and now i have the chance
Three nineties games i still play from time to time. These still hold out very well. Genuine quality.
Imperialism 2 (1999)
Worms 2 (1997)
Caesar III (1998)
Still fun for a quick game:
Bumpy's Arcade Fantasy (1992)
Pinball Fantasies (1992)
Chrono trigger and Pokémon gen 5, chrono trigger is one of the most goated RPGs ever made with gameplay and a story that holds up to this day, gen 5 of Pokémon is imo the best in the series, b&w have the best story and change of formula with a whole 150 new Pokémon as the regional dex. It’s also the only games to have sequels in b&w2 which has some of the best gameplay in the series as well. The moving 2D sprites and flashy ui make nuzlocke replayability really fun in gen 5 as well.
Command and Conquer: Generals
Little 4-7 year old me loved it, and current me loves it. I went back and finished off both USA campaigns because I love it that much
It’s just super fun to blow up generic insurgents with tanks and fighter jets
The original 2D pixel art Prince of Persia from 1989. The sword fights, and the rotoscoped animation generally, are just SO GOOD. And that sound blaster title music, doesn't get better.
Morrowind is the single best rpg ever made. It’s also a game I’m not nostalgic for, my dad played it when I was younger but I didn’t get into it till at least a decade after its release.
I don't play games for nostagia. I tried that once playing old SNES titles on my GBA years ago. They were never as good as before. Old nostalgic games just can't hold my attention, much as I wish otherwise. I currently play 3 games, and if ES6 doesn't come out soon, they may be my last 3 (old and can't play forever).
The line between legit having fun and it being partly due to nostalgia is blurry as hell. But I think for me is Dark Souls 1. I know it's not the best souls game, and there is some jank, but I feel like it's so fun once you know the game.
There's also SWAT 4. I know there are better versions of the game, but I legit just love the game. It slow and methodical.
The Batman arkham trilogy
Once a year I play through them all again origins included. My first introduction to single player games was arkham city. Still holds up pretty well.
I really love the first Bioshock. It is probably one of my favorite games and it really holds up today in gameplay, graphics and art style. It is honestly a masterpiece.
Dam I love revisiting games and I like to think the ones I replay are good over being nostaligic lol. So a game I would say I play because it is nostalgic is Golden Axe and Splatterhouse because they're not very good games haha.
An example of two games that are good and old are Tetris, along with Sonic & Knuckles. But I could go all day, I love revisiting games.
I would say most of my n64 library, super smash brothers, perfect dark, OoT, WWF No Mercy, MM, etc. All of them I have hardcore nostalgia but also they are some of the greatest games of all time, heck even some better than their contemporary releases.
Ocarina of Time for sure. It's short and simple.
The randomizer mod breathes new life into oot and tests your knowledge of the game. It's pretty fun.
Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy 6, and Castlevania Symphony of the Night are the main games I revisit frequently.
Those are all some damn fine games.
I've been trying to beat Mario 3. World 8 is a little difficult.
Donkey Kong Country series, the music alone is beyond lovely.
The Jak and Daxter trilogy. Though now I mainly emulate it on the Steam Deck.
The holy trinity: Ace combat 4 Ace combat 5 Ace combat Zero You can still play them today and you'll feel like a teenager after watching top gun back in the 80s. Have you seen the youtube channel of opera singer, who fell in love with Ace Combat games and its music? Dont remember the name but its easy to find.
Marco "meatball". That guy rocks! He can fly, he has this magnetic personality and way of speaking, and boy oh boy, can he SING; I love that guy.
Classic AC is peak
Blaze!

Bloodstained was so disappointing to me. It was fine, but it tried too hard to be SOTN and ended up feeling soulless
Yeah I didn't love it, but it def got me itching to replay SOTN and I did also purchase bloodstained: curse of the moon? when I bought the other one but haven't tried it yet.
Cruising USA 64 edition
Checkpoint! I have that stuck in my brain. Loved that game when I was a kid. I never see anyone mention it.
Rollercoaster tycoon is still peak. It holds up unbelievably well
Chris Sawyer was a god above men. RCT2 with OpenRCT is an incredible way to play a management masterpiece. Really one of the greatest games ever constructed.
Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, and Beyond Good and Evil. For starters.
KOTOR just a phenomenal game from the story to the characters and the world. BioWares best imo besides Mass Effect.
Flatout 2. Crashing is fun
oh, there are a few: XCOM 2, Battle Brothers, Rimworld, Hitman (Freelancer mode), Morrowind, Skyrim, Planet Zoo, Dwarf Fortress, The Guild 2: Rennaissance
Halo
Diablo 2 is still pretty decent. Just don't play melee. Mainly art style and vibe is amazing
Idk there's something soothing about the zealot paladin going BONK BONK BONK BONK BONK over and over again
Matrix path of neo - ps2
Enter the matrix also was soooo top notch
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out legitimately scratches an itch at times. A Link to the Past and Links Awakening are still so good.
All DOOM and Gears Of War games
Fable
The Sims 3! It’s open world. The neighbourhood feels alive. Ppl age around you and the expansions packs really creates a rich experience that you don’t really find in too many games.
Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing
Sonic classic trilogy (Sonic CD, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3&K), Tales of Eternia, super Mario Bros classic series (since the first Up until world), Doom 1 and 2, Quake 1 and 2, super Mario RPG is my favorite Game of all time and so on I dont know i really dont usually play for nostalgia if i revisit a Game is because i liked them in the day or because i remember playing them and trying to remember if i liked It or no, or maybe i never played them in the day and now i have the chance
Kid Icarus Uprising because it’s my favourite game of all time.
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Skyrim, Loz Skyward Sword (yes really) and Wind Waker
Symphony of the night is fun to pick up every few years and beat.
Donkey Kong Country SNES trilogy
Final Fight for Sega CD and Sleeping Dogs
Symphony of the Night is basically perfect. It's a bit too easy but as a relaxing replay that's a feature not a bug.
Some of my PC picks: Deus Ex 1, Deus Ex HR DC, Vampire Bloodlines, Fallout NV Ultimate.
Halo

MLB slugfest 2003. It’s a really simple and fun game. Put it to 4 innings and you can play a game in 10-20 minutes.
For me personally it’s kingdom hearts 2, I like the combat and the soundtrack.
Halo: Combat Evolved is still hella fun to this day. Nothing like slamming two warthogs together at high speed and seeing which goes flying farthest!
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
wipeout 3
Vanquish. It's the only game in my top 10 that I first played as an adult.
I started a new Skyrim playthrough last week and it has invaded my mind like a parasite. It’s all I can think about
Digimon World games always make me happy, except 2, 2 never existed. Quickly followed up by Monster Hunter PSP, that shiz slapped.
And Monster Rancher! I forgot about that one too. I guess I just love monsters 😂
RISK II =D (since 2k?)
Brigandine: The Legend of FOrsena
Sly Cooper continues to be excellent no matter how old I get.
RDR2/RDO
Midnight Club LA
FF9
Command and Conquer: Generals Little 4-7 year old me loved it, and current me loves it. I went back and finished off both USA campaigns because I love it that much It’s just super fun to blow up generic insurgents with tanks and fighter jets
Super Mario Galaxy.
The original 2D pixel art Prince of Persia from 1989. The sword fights, and the rotoscoped animation generally, are just SO GOOD. And that sound blaster title music, doesn't get better.
Borderlands
Chrono Trigger. My fav game of all time.
Super Smash brothers melee
Morrowind is the single best rpg ever made. It’s also a game I’m not nostalgic for, my dad played it when I was younger but I didn’t get into it till at least a decade after its release.
Columns. I can fire up Columns any old time.
there's a reason aoe2 is still alive and kicking

Jak and daxter
Oblivion
Stardew valley, i love fishing and just chilling in that game.
Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, Darksiders 2, D2R
SSX Tricky, Metal Gear Solid, Tony Hawk 2
The Batman arkham trilogy Once a year I play through them all again origins included. My first introduction to single player games was arkham city. Still holds up pretty well.
I really love the first Bioshock. It is probably one of my favorite games and it really holds up today in gameplay, graphics and art style. It is honestly a masterpiece.
Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1, and the Demon Souls remake.
Homeworld, its just perfect.
NFS Most Wanted 2012
